  1. I didn’t bother watching the first half of the game. But after seeing Fields stat line I thought the second half was going to not be worth the watch either. Fields actually was very impressive. Tons of penalties negated solid plays and he threw a lot of balls to right spot…suffered through some drops from his wideouts on nice plays and was lethal with his legs. He had a mistake or two, but overall he sure looks smooth back there.
  2. Or give the 1 and 2 seeds byes to next round and than have more 3 game series etc.
  3. Very very sorry for your loss. Such a senseless tragedy.
  4. He had two straight weak practices (plus a practice in between he missed with a groin injury). In general - I don't think anyone is going to be hurt by sitting for a bit. I do think you can hurt people by putting in too soon, when they aren't ready, that they develop bad habits and regress. While I think Fields could probably handle things right away and be fine - I don't believe the Bears are a superbowl contender this year and if they wait half a season or a whole season to let Fields lose I don't think it matters (as I do believe QB's can get better by learning from a vet like Andy Dalton - like Mahomes did learning from Smith, who was at the time a better player than Dalton is today, but similar in the sense of their overall savyiness.
  5. Helpful - sounds like one of those things where everyone was hopeful it would naturally resolve itself, but unfortunately it didn't and thus they had to make this pivot. The hard part is obviously fact that it is hard to get in the necessary reps during the season to make an impression - but if in the long run he is okay and can develop into the player they think he is, that is what is most important. It turns out dropping Leno so quickly (and they haven't really reused the cap space) was probably not the right move (even though the team clearly wanted to move on). Leno is better than Peters at this point (and far more durable).
  6. It is too bad they couldn’t have made this move a month ago.
  7. Did they announce it? That sucks - hopefully this gets him right. Hicks evidently left camp yesterday too, I presume over a contract situation.
  8. Jose gets credit. I think he was doing a good job all season, especially given how all the added pressure fell on him, Tim and Goan with the rest of the crew down. Probably more so Jose because he was really the only slugger not named yas left. Jose is so nails.
  9. And I might be wrong but he is hitting a ton better since he got Eloy back in lineup.
  10. He is going back into the pen - they aren't sending him down the way he is pitching right now. Wright is first one going down and Lopez is on the roster before Foster at this point too.
  11. Yeah - that was the least excited I have been almost ever for a homer.
  12. Wow - really hope everything ends up as good as can be with Bassit. That was awful...as bad as I've seen.
  13. AYO with another real solid game. You can never project greatness out of summer league, but you can sometimes see guys who just don't fit via it and at least first impression is AYO can definitely be the kind of guy who develops into a quality rotational player.
  14. I will caveat - Kleber's basketball fit might be better (in sense that the Bulls really need defense - which Kleber is supposedly pretty good at).
  15. He is a major step down from Lauri. Not saying he's a bad player but Lauri is significantly better. I would much prefer playing it tough and forcing Lauri to play for Bulls for one more year (and assume that he'll eventually get on board) or a path that gets an eventual FRP back while the team using more TPE's for any finishing touch moves.
  16. Ayo having a stellar game today. Really playing well on both sides of the ball.
  17. This - I figure they aren’t going to waste his knees catching a bunch of minor league games. When he is ready to catch - he will do it at the big league level and this is more just a stint to get his timing back. My guess is we see him during the next series.
  18. Fields has it. Bears signed jason peters so they finally made a move to add some much needed depth at tackle given all the injury issues they have had. He is old and way past his prime, but should be a good vet move for whenever Jenkins can start practicing etc.
  19. Or you do exactly that to make sure you give the right impression. I don't know - but one thing i wondered is after what is going on with the Bulls (and Ball tampering) would the Sox just make sure to not rub anything in here with Rodon. That was always my hope (that they just wanted to make everything look right) but he did have those games where his velocity was down and he had thrown a ton of innings. Either way - good that the MRI was clean.
  20. Great post and I agree with everything you said.
  21. It was a great trade for Cubs. Heuer has great arm and is going to put up quite a few low cost above average seasons out of the pen. Sox need Kimbrel to hit and they clearly paid a premium for limited innings. In terms of war traded - could see Sox getting 2-4 war from Kimbrel vs Cubs getting 15-20 war during periods of control. That is a great deal for a team in accumulation phase and both guys can help next year so if you want a quick retool it plays well.
  22. This - get in and get in healthy with your rotation set. This is part of the challenge in a long season…I am so happy club built this lead up. It is so critical…much more so than home field IMO. End of the day once playoffs start the reality is they need to play well period.
  23. Given the sizeable lead the club has - I don’t like their approach but I suppose I understand it.
