  1. Here are some other notes: ATO: Sox Release Nachreiner; Josh Hansen to WS By FutureSox.com
  2. Is it only about the steroids fiasco or are there other interesting pieces to it?
  3. He's doing very good as a freshman. Talented player and a smart kid with a good head on his shoulders. Its a shame we couldn't have signed him, but the effort was put in by the org, he just wanted to go to college (I don't blame him either).
  4. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Apr 23, 2006 -> 06:34 AM) Hopefully Felix can out duel Verlander tonight. A Royals win over CLE would be nice, but I'm not hopeful That'll be a nice matchup in terms of studly young pitchers.
  5. I'm not too concerned with Cotts, but I do have some concerns with Politte namely because he's lost some velocity. Cotts still looks like the same pitcher as last year, the results just haven't been there. I expect him to get on a hot streak pretty soon though.
  6. Cotts, Politte Draw Concern By Mike Matha Soxtalk.com Cockiness now seemingly aside (or perhaps, simply a slow start), the White Sox are back atop the Central Division looking to kick it into high gear and run away. They’ve won eleven of their last twelve, Jim Thome is among the league leaders in home runs, and after shaky go-rounds, Buehrle, Garcia, Garland, Contreras and Vazquez all seem to be on track. With an 12-5, start, they’re only one game off their 2005 pace...Click Here For the Rest of the Story
  7. Thanks for the kind wishes everyone. I already feel like I'm going to pass out (played bball this morning, than a round of golf, now some of my other friends want to play some ball). After that I can finally grub it up over at the sports bar with my close buddies and watch the Bulls game. Than they will try to make me throw up (they will fail in that attempt).
  8. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Apr 22, 2006 -> 08:34 AM) Happy Birthday Jason. Without you, none of us would be here, and for that, we owe you tons Can't wait to hang out at a ballgame against this year. This time bring your arm, as well as your mitt Haha, don't worry, I've actually been playing twice a week and I'm finally kind of rehabbing my arm. You just bring your accuracy
  9. QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ Apr 21, 2006 -> 12:54 PM) Per ESPN News. Brace yourself for four years of Joe Montana compairisons. OH BABY
  10. QUOTE(Goldmember @ Apr 21, 2006 -> 01:50 PM) word. most everything else is too annoying or just gay... I don't even know why I still have it. My friends bugged me into signing up on it and I don't use it. I do ocassionally use facebook though. Its a lot quicker to access and less clunky looking. Myspace has so much stupid crap on it that it takes forever to load anything.
  11. We have a tough grouping but damn it I'm going to be pulling for our team. I will be watching every USA world cup game just as I did 4 years ago.
  12. QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Apr 21, 2006 -> 12:05 PM) Im really hoping we find a guy with filthy stuff this year instead of just going after the guys with great control. Even Lumsden has a low 90's fastball... be nice to have a guy who can throw mid-high 90's and have another good pitch to compliment it. Even if he doesnt have great control we can work on that. It would have to be a high schooler or a guy that really slid due to signability issues (Boras as his agent and we know we won't take him). In general you aren't going to find that type of guy at this spotunless he has AWFUL control or no secondary pitches or has outrageous demands. Kenny doesn't seem to be the type of guy that wants to spend big bucks on a prospect since thats money he could use on the major league roster (ie giving a guy like Hochevar huge money at 29 may not be worth it to him). However we do need to invest money into the farm system, but I've long felt your better off getting some guys that slid from the early rounds (and taking them in the 5th-10th rounds) and offering them 2nd or 3rd round money as opposed to taking one guy at 29 who just has ridiculous demands.
  13. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Apr 21, 2006 -> 12:05 PM) Maybe re-stock the farm with the loss of Gio and Hag? I am completely clueless with the draft this year... I'm hoping for a pitching heavy draft by our org. Pitchers are always valuable picks because not only are they an expensive position at the major league level (meaning that you can save a lot of money if you can develop cheap minor leaguers), but they also are a key reason to why teams win (strong pitching is important) and because of both of these factors, good pitching prospects always have more trade value than good hitting prospects. They think that this draft may see a record for collegiate pitchers taken. My hope is that Max Scherzer somehow slides big time. He's a hell of a pitcher (Mizzu) but has had some minor injuries this year. Mix that with him maybe fronting and asking for a lot of money (not ridiculous money) and who knows. But thats probably a total dream. One guy thats on my radar as a early round pick (not 1st rounder) is Wes Roemer. He is not an overpowering pitcher but he has a good arsenal of pitches and pin point control (He went over 40 innings this year without a walk and has like a 77 to 3 strikeout to walk ratio on the season). Roemer is the ace of Fullerton (however he may not even be eligible for the draft cause I think he's a sophmore and very few sophmores are draft eligible). UNC's starter (Miller, IIRC) is a lefty who is pretty much #1 on all draft boards right now. But you also have Ian Kennedy, Max Scherzer and quite a few other guys that are projected to go in the 1st round (Kennedy and Scherzer are both STUDS and Miller has a hell of an arm).
  14. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Apr 21, 2006 -> 11:16 AM) What's the early read on this draft? Deep? Weak? College hitting heavy? High school pitching heavy? Insanely heavy college pitching draft. There are a ton of stud collegiate pitchers out there this year.
  15. QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Apr 21, 2006 -> 10:22 AM) What the heck is Cinci chili? Like Cincinnati? Are they known for chili or something? Ya, they have these places called Skyline chili. They put like cinnamon into the chili to make it a bit sweeter and serve it with pasta. Had it one time and it was pretty good. I'm sure I'll try it again when I'm in Cincy for the Sox series.
  16. Mine is the default one.
  17. QUOTE(Rex Kickass @ Apr 21, 2006 -> 10:24 AM) The Prius has come down in price, from about a 10K differential to a comprable regular auto to 5K. MSRP may be that way, but from what I've gathered most dealers are still charging (and getting) markups on top of MSRP. People are paying as much as 28-30K for them and thats a joke. At that price you could almost get yourself a lot of cars that are much nicer.
  18. I'm now thinking something. During the entire winter I'm going to post a thread of whats so great about CA (ie the weather)
  19. QUOTE(Kid Gleason @ Apr 21, 2006 -> 10:34 AM) I'm going to be in Vegas in the end of May. Are there Sonic's in Vegas? My buddy has been raving about that chain, and it might be my only chance to try one. Look at me, going to Vegas and I'm looking for fast food chains. :rolly I don't think so. I'm going to be in Vegas right around than, although I think its the 1st of June when I'll be there for 2 nights.
  20. QUOTE(Jimbo's Drinker @ Apr 20, 2006 -> 09:57 PM) What should i do, and where should i eat??? Nothing too expensive. I want to also know the best place to watch/bet on the sox and bulls? Is there free drinks when you sports bet? Used to be free drinks but a lot of the sports books are going away from that. Biggest things to do in Vegas would be eat, drink, gamble, and go to clubs. I guess you can also lounge at the pools if the other choices don't interest ya.
  21. Girls that wear short skirts combined with the high fuzzy boots look really hot, yet really ridiculous. My opinions on baseball >>>> most people's opinions on baseball (what can I say, I'm an arrogant bastard).
  22. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Apr 21, 2006 -> 04:43 AM) I know I am no match for the Soxtalk old timers, but I remember seeing 63 cents a gallon right before the first gulf war. My last year of high school (only 5 years ago), gas was still under a buck. By the way, whoever is filling up at that gas station is a moron. Its pretty expensive to fill up in my town, but gas is right at 3 or 3.05 and in cheaper parts 2.85-2.95
  23. QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Apr 20, 2006 -> 08:31 AM) Well, if you Texans take that beanless so called 'chilli' and put it in a tortilla, you get your standard ground beef taco. Seriously...Chili needs beans. More reasons why Texas is just WRONG.
  24. QUOTE(The Critic @ Apr 19, 2006 -> 04:53 PM) I luuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuvs me some beans in my chili. Of course, I'm not making any "authentic" chili, so I don't care. And I also like ketchup on hot dogs. Food Snobs be DAMNED!!!!!!!!
  25. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Apr 21, 2006 -> 05:53 AM) GREAT point, I was actually going to put that last night. Phillips story is very similar to Lopez, and Felipe is a VERY good player now (won the silver slugger and had great numbers last year). Hot damn, if Phillips develops here, they would have quite a middle infield with 2 guys that they stole off the scrap heap basically and are still young. Lopez, Kearns, Dunn, Encarnacion (who's off to a very good start), now Phillips....that's 5 young cornerstones right there among everyday players (and Freel is solid too and still pretty young, 29 I think) as long as Kearns stays healthy. Now they need pitching and depth, and a minor league system. lol. Also, the Freel to CF and Griffey to 1B idea is very interesting. That would give the Reds a lineup of: Freel CF Lopez SS Griffey 1B Dunn LF Kearns RF Encarnacion 3B Phillips 2B LaRue C P That's a hell of a lineup, probably the best in the NL other than the Mets, and a pretty young one at that. There are still a few lineups in the NL I'd take over that (including the Cards) but it is a solid lineup. They still have an awful pitching staff and aren't exactly the strongest defensive squad (although they do have some guys with pretty good range).
