4/6 Games
QUOTE(Rex Hudler @ Apr 7, 2006 -> 05:37 PM) Rauch's attitude issues were far more deep than the leaving early incident. I'm glad its coming from you, cause the stuff I was told when I was in the press box a few times was insane. I couldn't believe we kept him around as long as we did. The guy was a cancer.

Dye Update?
On the Royals telecast the announcers said JD took part in the stretches and the pre game warmups. I assume this is one of those things where when JD says he's ready, Ozzie will give him an extra day or two just as a precautionary measure.

QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Apr 7, 2006 -> 12:45 PM) Yeah I saw Rauch too he does look pretty good. Even though he didnt work out 2 great here im glad both him and who was it Majewski both panned out pretty well in Washington. I'm happy for Majewski but I could care less what Rauch does. Rauch could have been a good thing here if he didn't have such an attitude problem. Interesting to see he's gotten things figured out though.

Army WBB Coach Maggie Dixon Dies
I saw that segment as well. Didn't have a clue who she was aside from a coach who had made the tourney (as did her brother). Sad sad story. Thoughts go out to the family.

QUOTE(ZoomSlowik @ Apr 7, 2006 -> 12:18 PM) I fully endorse the use of peanut butter on any grain-based food. I prefer using it on french toast though. I just had PB and some jelly for lunch. If I ever get stuck on an island its PB and J, and Tuna for me (that way I have a variety of two damn good tasting sandwiches). But I'd need plenty of miracle whip, I hate dry tuna.

QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Apr 7, 2006 -> 12:22 PM) Keep the peanut butter where it belongs. . . In the bedroom with the whipped cream and the giant rubber squid Rubber squid...come on, fresh squid is the only way to go. And you thought whip marks were bad

Wage Talk
QUOTE(Iwritecode @ Apr 7, 2006 -> 11:23 AM) I thought it was Cold Stone = over-priced. People making 10K a year definitely won't be stopping there. Hell, I make a bit more than that and I never go there (and its not like I have any expenses aside from car and my own personal fun expenses, since I welch off my parents fridge food and still live at home). However, if I go by a McDonalds I am more than willing to pick up a sundae. Those damn things are good for 99 cents. Desert is the only thing worth buying at McDonalds. On a sidenote, why doesn't McDonalds super size sundae's, now that would turn me into a fatty

Wage Talk
QUOTE(Chisoxrd5 @ Apr 7, 2006 -> 10:44 AM) I'm pretty much on all personal returns right now. This is actually my third tax season so I might look around a little this summer. I have to take the last two parts of the CPA this spring, ideally I'll be done with that then I can venture out into the vast unknown. South Dakota? Nice... Not sure how much real work experience you have but you will quickly see how little college prepares you for this stuff. :banghead Ya, I quickly learned that during my internship with Grant over the previous summer. I think all college was supposed to do was basically help you learn how to learn on your own. I just know if they do send me out, I'm looking forward to getting that free round trip ticket every other weekend cause that will give me at least a few flights into Chicago to see some Sox games.

QUOTE(Felix @ Apr 7, 2006 -> 12:02 PM) Well, I don't eat the polish, but on the dogs, yea, I do put ketchup. And I'm not trying to sound like an ass, I'm just trying to understand how people can tell other people what they can or cannot have on their dogs to be a "true" Sox fan. Hell if people want to complain...I like putting peanut butter on eggo waffles. Its freaking delicious with a little syrup.

QUOTE(RockRaines @ Apr 7, 2006 -> 11:18 AM) You guys really put ketchup on the grilled dogs and polish at the Cell? Never bought one. The few times a year I'm at the Cell I look forward to getting a Brat and I live off them at the park for that weekend

QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Apr 7, 2006 -> 10:06 AM) It's OK, nobody expects the Californian to get it. Is this kind of like putting Wiz on a real cheesesteak sandwich. Cause I happen to love Philly's and those you gotta get with Wiz (although they are damn tasty with provo too). So is it a sin I put Ketchup and Mustard on my brought (to go with the Peppers and Onions)?

Friday funny..
QUOTE(Steff @ Apr 7, 2006 -> 06:36 AM) A diehard White Sox fan amuses himself by scaring every Cubs fan he sees strutting down the street in their obnoxious Cubs shirts. He swerves his van as if to hit them, and then swerves back just missing them. One day, while driving along, he saw a priest. He thought he would do a good deed, so he pulled over and asked the priest "Where are you going Father?" "I'm going to give mass at St. Francis Church, about 2 miles down the road," replied the priest. "Climb in Father! I'll give you a lift!" said the man. The priest climbed into the rear passenger seat, and they continued down the road. Suddenly, the driver saw a Cubs fan walking down the road, and he instinctively swerved as if to hit him. But, as usual, he swerved back into the road just in time. Even though he was certain that he had missed he guy, he still heard a loud "THUD." Not understanding where the noise came from, he glanced back in his mirrors but still didn't see anything. He then remembered the priest and he turned to the priest and said "Sorry Father, I almost hit that Cubs fan." "That's okay," replied the priest, "I got him with the door." Great joke steff

QUOTE(Spiff @ Apr 7, 2006 -> 08:30 AM) Truer words have never been spoken. Seriously...a dog without ketchup is just not very good to me. I could care less what others do, but I've had ketchup and mustard on my dog since I was a kid and thats the way it tastes good. Chili can be a nice treat though. I'm more of a brat guy though.

Holy crap!
QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Apr 7, 2006 -> 09:18 AM) Agreed on Shelton, he's going to be a star. Way to go Pitt. Seriously, you could see him not being protected on a good team, but how in the hell did the Pirates (a team thats used Daryl Ward, Randal Simon and tons of other lousy first baseman) not have room to protect a guy like Shelton. Than again a lot of times it is the bad teams that can get a bit hurt in the Rule V since they typically have so many prospects (of course most of them end up failing and thats why they remain bad).

Eric Gagne
QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Apr 7, 2006 -> 09:24 AM) Gagne has always, always thrown hard. I'm not exactly sure where you got that the only threw 92. With the Dodgers Gagne was a 92-95 guy as a starter. When he moved to the pen he went to 95-98. However, that type of increase in velocity isn't unheard of. Lots of starters hold things in reserve since they have to throw 6 or 7 innings and 100 or so pitches. As a reliever you can go 100% every pitch and because of that converted starters tend to see a jump in velocity. And as far as Gagne being a small guy, he was never small. I can see the speculation over steroids, but as you say Rowand, it can't possibly be a clear cut case.

Ready for $3 gas again?
QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Apr 7, 2006 -> 09:21 AM) I'm afraid to go to another game with Brian and Steve. Everything was going well, we're 1 and 0 and then they show up for the next two games. You feel bad...I fly into Chicago and end up seeing teams swept. I know one thing though...I did my job, 3-0 in the playoffs last year and well over .500 in the regular season. I say if we see a losing series, they get stuck with the bill

Ready for $3 gas again?
QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Apr 7, 2006 -> 08:32 AM) The problem is...in a few years, the oil market may very well leave him no choice. Demand for oil is not going to stop increasing. India, China and the U.S. all keep wanting more, and there simply isn't any more cheap oil to be found. Not in the amounts needed. The one good piece of news I think we can give him is that oil is unlikely to really go past about $125-$150 or so a barrel even when Saudi Arabia really starts to decline, simply because there are other oil sources that become profitable at roughly that level; heavier oils that cost more and take more energy to refine, oil/tar sands, etc. (Of course, the problem with all of those is that they're vastly more polluting that normal Light Sweet Crude, so even though that should put a max on the price, it's still time to really find something to replace the stuff.) I personally have been very surprised that the U.S. economy has managed to survive the first step upwards, from $20-$30 a barrel oil to $60-$70 a barrel. I'm not sure it can do that again. I think we are getting closer to the time when Hybrid technology becomes a financial savings to consumers. By that I mean where the price of buying a hybrid car becomes worth it in terms of the gas you save. As that happens (and they continue to make strides and they continue to release new hybrid cars) we will see people still driving the same all while using vastly more efficient cars, meaning we may actually be able to decrease our demand on Petro. But thats just the short-mid range solution as we still need to figure out a new source, but its not going to be super easy as once it is developed and considered safe and backed by all the auto manufacters and everyone else, you then need to completely overhaul gas stations. Its going to be a process I'm sure.
