QUOTE(Steff @ Apr 5, 2006 -> 06:00 AM) I would have prefered plat also. 56: I have a habit of being in the right place at the right time. LMB: It does look "eggy" now that you mentioned it, but in the flesh there's nothing "chicky" about it . It's actually more flat on the finger then it looks, and it is way heavy. I was wondering how the hell you got that. I was in class when you text me and I was so jealous. But I did turn over my cell to one of my buddies that was rooting against the Sox to spite me and showed him the pic and said thats what a world series ring look like.

Now they can't intentionally walk Thome which is nice.

QUOTE(fathom @ Apr 5, 2006 -> 01:12 PM) Would Iguchi have had a double or triple on it? Also, did Pods chase ball 4? Pods has been swinging at poor pitches all season thus far, especially when he's ahead in the count. Iguchi with a nice base hit. Short and right back up the middle.
-
That ball hit his mitt and went into fair territory. Bad call. That said from where Blake was he kind of shielded it to where the ump didn't have a good angle.

QUOTE(Heads22 @ Apr 5, 2006 -> 01:09 PM) Well, we'll just ignore the fact that you're from here, Gage. Sko Pods. Correction...my family is from there. Therefor I can make fun of it. But I like going back there, I can be the trendy one for once

QUOTE(fathom @ Apr 5, 2006 -> 01:07 PM) Great job by our glue guys (Cliff and Cotts) against the top/heart of Cleveland's order. Cliff looked pretty good. Didn't like the walk but he looked good in his stint.
-
QUOTE(Heads22 @ Apr 5, 2006 -> 01:06 PM) I love being a Cotts backer since day one. On a side note, it appears WGN has caught up to 1998 in computer graphics. So basically they are where Iowa is to things that are cool. You guys should be excited, I hear 98 is a great year for baseball. McGwire and Sosa bring the game back to the prestrike levels.

PK will knock in the game winning run this inning. DO IT

Job well done Cottsy.

QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Apr 5, 2006 -> 01:00 PM) Hey, to be honest, it might make some of these game threads better compared to what they are at times. Exactly, I prefer that to the constant b****ing that goes on half the time. Cheer and get excited or give some analysis but constant whining is something that gets old. Were just 2 games into the season (this being our 3rd game). Its a long season and if people want to have hear attacks every game thats fine, but I'd just as well personally discuss baseball in this threads and more of strategy than anything else. As I say this Cottsy is in facing a tough tough hitter in Haffner.

QUOTE(daa84 @ Apr 5, 2006 -> 12:57 PM) what? i didnt go to his website at all maybe I'm thinking of someone else, but regardless, treat other posters with respect and if you dont' think you can do that, just don't say anything at all.
-
Politte tends to struggle in this longer outings. I'm definately concerned with the top of the order due up. Plus I fear Thornton is going to be the guy on the mound when the lefty part of this lineup comes up.
-
QUOTE(daa84 @ Apr 5, 2006 -> 12:55 PM) yeah i said teh same thing about him yesterday, but i was told to shut up about it...but i agree its extremely annoying Instead you went and trolled his website. Its called being mature, if a post bothers you ignore it and move on.

QUOTE(SSH2005 @ Apr 5, 2006 -> 12:53 PM) That Coco Crisp trade is going to be WAY better than anyone thought. Mota is nasty, Michaels can hit, AND they get a stud 3B prospect all for one above average player. First Mota will have to prove he can throw strikes consistently and that his arm won't fall apart. Plus Michaels needs to prove he can play every day and hit someone other than lefties.

QUOTE(jphat007 @ Apr 5, 2006 -> 12:52 PM) Seriously dude. Analyzing is okay, but why the hell are you sitting there cheerleading on our board. He's done nothing wrong, so leave him be. This place is for Sox fans, but we always welcome other teams fans as long as they are amicable. He's been nothing but class.
-
You guys realize that Cintron led the NL in pinch hit Hr's last year. He's a damn good PH and should be our first guy off the bench in these type of situations.
-
QUOTE(SSH2005 @ Apr 5, 2006 -> 12:51 PM) LOL, Hawk praying for a wild pitch. I don't blame him, Anderson has looked awful all game and didn't have one good cut that AB. Its going to happen though, thats part of him still having to develop.
-
If Mota can have this control all season, look out cause he'll be a big help to that pen if he throws strikes. Anderson can't beat out an infield hit and the Sox blow a GOLDEN opportunity.
-
Not saying that was a bad take, but how the hell does BA take a pitch that close again. He could have went down looking for his 3rd straight AB with runners on.
-
QUOTE(rventura23 @ Apr 5, 2006 -> 12:48 PM) did the tribe loose anyone from the bullpen besides bobby Wickman got a year older and is even more out of shape. I think he (the closer position) will be the achilles heal of the Tribe pen, but that may very well be true of the Sox pen (which could definately struggle). We'll find out a lot these next few weeks.
-
Mota got the job done. Cintron had a good AB but failed in the end. I don't like the idea of Anderson here, but maybe he'll surprise me. This is the type of guy where being agressive could be a good thing.
-
QUOTE(GoTribe @ Apr 5, 2006 -> 12:42 PM) Very good game so far. Lee had it going but nearly made this thing a blowout in the Sox's favor. Kudos to the tribe pen for keeping it close. Sox offense is so clutch, thats why they are so tough IMHO... This MOTA-CINTRON matchup should be a good one. Both from the National League... I'm sure they faced eachother before. Casey Blake is your true hero. He doesn't get those jumps on a few of those balls (balls there were knocked down by the wind) and this is a 3 run lead for the Sox. However thats part of the game.

QUOTE(sox-r-us @ Apr 5, 2006 -> 12:43 PM) You make good points Chisoxfn and I would be lying if I said I did not think of it too. I wish though that he would use it in his "throw away" game 3s (you know where we are up 2-0 and we really do not need to win game 3?). I would prefer that when we are against probably our #1 rival at home for an early division lead, we send our freaking aces to take those guys out. Confidence is a HUGE part of this game. I do not want to see the Indians taking 2 of 3 here ....too early in the season but still. None the less, good points still 2 out of 3 would be great, but I'd rather find out what we got now so Kenny and company know what to do (in terms of finding guys) than not figuring it out and being in big trouble. If Ozzie doesn't have faith in guys like Jenks and Cotts last year and throw them in pressure situations, we aren't world series champs. Sure that could have blown up in our faces, but worse case those guys blow a few games and Ozzie goes to someone else. Best case they become studs. I say give players chances to succeed or fail.
-
QUOTE(sox-r-us @ Apr 5, 2006 -> 12:38 PM) No he will not. Ozzie will do whatever Ozzie wants to do....which is fine, since he has earned the right to do it with the ring. No issues there. But it is fair that he get called out if it seems like a dumb move and then it turns out to be a dumb move. Just because Boone is lefty does NOT mean he is good at pitching against the best lefty hitters out there (aka Hafner) on the opponent's team I swear sometimes Ozzie reminds me of Jim Riggleman with his match up theory. Which is strange because Ozzie is pretty vocal about how he does not care for matchups, theories etc and goes by gut most of the time Lets not forget just yesterday he got Hafner to induce into a DP. Bringing out McCarthy against a few lefties/switch hitters didn't seem like a good managerial move. Ozzie wants to see what Logan will do. For christ sakes this is a learning period for both player and coach as the player needs to learn and understand what his role will be and the coach needs to learn and understand how his player will perform in varying situations.

QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Apr 5, 2006 -> 12:41 PM) I really cant imagine it can be, he didnt do anything today. I think he caugth a lazy fly in the 1st, thats about it... Ya I couldn't figure it out. I didn't even remember him catching that fly. I was surprised when he came out. My guess is its just super precautionary. NO reason to risk losing him for an extended period of time.
