  1. Also Roquan has shown up. Too bad Pace kept Danny T over Kwit. Danny is the weak link on this defense. Johnson is legit. He had a tough game today. A few bad plays and some costly borderline penalties but kept grinding at same time. Really a big fan of him. He did miss what should have been a Teddy Bridgewatsr pick in the red zone with a horrible play on the ball that actually gave what should have been an easy TD to Panthers (Moore dropped it though). Nice to see Kmet with some plays. Robinson had an off game. And Nagy had some straight up trash play calls today. He had some good ones but he gets cute way too often. Build up a real offense and than add some cute vs just being cute. Non Bears note: Adam Gase had to coach his final game for the Jets right?
  2. By the way - another no show for Anthony Miller. Forgot Trubisky miss - Miller was a bigger miss. Mitch was a qb and while they missed you take that shot all day long. Miller is a bust and essentially was a whiff of 2 2nd round picks. He had another dumb play today where he cost them a 1st down. Mooney is real deal. Bought time Bears had a wideout with speed!
  3. Not a review where they watched film. Just the refs huddling together to confirm on the call. Technically this flag I think was for hitting a defenseless player but was a tough call.
  4. That penalty, the pass interference that lead to the TD on Johnson. Just real bad. I also thought the Foles roughing the passer was bad too. No idea how this team is 5-1 but Nagy is a decent head coach and a horrible play caller. They need to figure out how to run the ball under center with Foles at QB like they were doing with Mitch or something.
  5. I read the same thing and thought it was interesting. I found it just as interesting that they had a quote from a 23 year old Hinch (after it happened) who took the high road and literally said maybe one day he'd be back in the organization.
  6. Look at the Bulls; He wanted Doug Collins but ultimately let his basketball people make a decision and if anything his friendship with Collins actually got in the way of him hiring Collins again (he didn't want to have to fire him and he knew that). JR has his flaws, but he is very trusting of his people and I really believe he'd largely be a pretty darn good owner to work for (in the sense he gives you autonomy and trust).
  7. Great post & welcome aboard. I agree with everything you state.
  8. I think Paulie has the temperment to be a good manager and I would be very intrigued with this. If TLR is coming - there is no doubt in my mind he's being paired with a younger coach who we think has mgr upside (maybe a heavy analytics guy - but one who TLR obviously aligns with cause I don't see TLR taking a job and not having his say on staff, etc).
  9. LaRussa spent a few seasons for the Red Sox, who I believe are an analytically driven organization and Angels had moved that way, especially post Scioscia where he had been. This all goes back to my original point - people are assuming things based upon one or two quotes or the fact that he is old. Now I have no idea how involved or not involved he has been in the game of baseball, but if Tony has been plugged in and kept up with things, I don't see how this is as terrible of a decision as most here think it is.
  10. 100% true - if Larussa is in, and they take the approach to groom his heir apparent, it won't be someone who is an experienced manager.
  11. He also did that odd thing where he switched where his pitcher hit from time to time (IIRC).
  12. I think if you are hiring Larussa you are doing it for a few years while he grooms a more junior individual for the final role. Whether that is Jirechelle or however you spell it, I don't know, but it is certainly an option.
  13. All of the above are valid points - like I said - i have no idea how much he has been following the game and the energy he has. Pete Carrol is 69 and has more energy than most 45 year olds (for example). My broader assumption is this is JR having a sanctioned and approved conversation with a trusted advisor. I just think there could be far worse people the organization chats with as part of this process than a guy with 3 world series rings whose known as one of very best managers of all time. A lot of people want Bruce Bochy - but I don't know if Bochy is a huge data guy either (maybe he is and I just don't know it).
  14. But it seems like age bias to just ignore LaRussa and everything he did. The guy was elite at his craft through 3 decades - you don't do that by not adapting to change. I'm not saying Larussa is my guy, but I don't know that I'd go as far as saying he's an awful candidate. He's won 3 world series and was part of leading one of the winningest organizations in baseball since he got there in the mid 90's (Cardinals). Now if he's completely removed from the game of baseball - that is a whole nother thing. I have no idea - but I don't see why you wouldn't have a conversation with him about the job and what he sees, thinks, etc.
  15. Can I ask - why do people not want Larussa? Because he is old or is there something out? He is one of the greatest managers of all time.
  16. What if the Dodgers decide to move on from Dave Roberts? Not saying they would and their current series isn’t over (down 2-0) but I wonder at what point Dodgers look for a fresh voice in dugout regardless of how good Roberts is.
  17. Is he going to end up back with the Steelers or someone else going to grab him? I know Bears could use a RB - but I don't imagine they will look at him.
  18. When he used to respond - what was his response? I'm curious whether Jerry truly responded or if one of his handlers did.
  19. Billy Donovan is reportedly calling assistant coaches and letting him know that he's starting his bench from scratch. Sounds like at least Rogers, Loenser, and Cooper are out.
  20. ....who knows when the season will actually start
  21. Lots of great childhood memories watching Morgan do Sunday Night Baseball. RIP
