I'm going to guess Bears go with status quo but new president/football guy in charge....give him a year to get lay of the land and start to lay out LT strategy (with or without Pace and/or Nagy). In reality - it is probably best any Bear fan could expect knowing how expensive it would be to entirely clean house. You just have to hope whomever they identify for that job is really really good and he can go find really good people. I would hope if that was there plan - they have already a really good framework in place, but you do wonder if last week against Packers and this game against Saints potentially drove increased conversation to maybe shift that plan a bit more. I'm not in a huge hurry with Nagy - because I don't think he is a Trestman like coach. Meaning, I do think Nagy can win with talent. Is he the best coach in the league, no, but I don't think he's a clown car of a coach like Trestman either. With Pace - there are a lot of good - but man he has had some really big misses.

I want Smith as president and the Steelers guy as GM. I can live with Nagy if those two are good with him. I also am okay with Riddick as one of the guys as well. Haven’t paid a lot of attention to the coaching candidates, but I would be open to Todd Bowles getting another shot. I’d have to do a bit more research. I also like the KC OC (yes I actually would not be afraid to try another KC OC). Probably not interested in a college coach. Shaw went out of favor a few years back but I always liked his style for an NFC North team. I think unlikely bears spend that much money though so probably most realistic is another year of Nagy with new front office (including president) to make decisions. I should note - Nagy frustrates me a lot - but I also like how team has bounced back from adversity at times through him. Just hate how bad our offense has been under him.

Yeah - I wish I watched the Bulls game instead but with nfl ending so glad it looks like the bulls will be entertaining to watch.

Thank you Steelers for reminding me it could always be worse. Man - from undefeated deep into season to total collapse.

I don’t - I do what the Titans did a few years ago and blow this up.

Honestly - if I am the bears ownership - this might have done everyone in. This was a bad showing. I expected to lose and badly but I expected the team to score. The good news is the last 2 weeks should be a good reminder of how far removed this team is from the better teams and Mitch is clearly going to head elsewhere. I assume Bears will look at Wentz, Winston or D’Arnold and also look at potentially using a 1st or 2nd on a qb as well.

I tend to agree - but in Miller's case - it has been since he stepped onto the field. All bark.

And for a guy who can't tackle. Such a bad contract. He is really really bad.

Still a punch. Miller knows better - NO Excuses. Pathetic in a history of pathetic. No discipline.

Please Eddie Jackson - Redeem yourself with a TD here. Could really use a channeling of 2018 Ejax right about now.

He is. I don't know what Miller did that Gardner didn't get the exact same issue. He's known to be that way - but that is why you are coached to turn it into an advantage. I.e., let the Saints guy get the penalties. You know he's going to be loud and annoying, etc - but you have to know that and ignore it.

Bears only chance is 2 or 3 turnovers from Saints in 2nd half. If they get a pass rush and pressure Brees - it is possible. But I don't bet against Payton making major 2nd half adjustments.

NFL Thread 2020-2021
yes please. In the athletic piece, there was a quote from a scout, which basically said he can't be trusted. Not in his route running, not in his ability to make decent decisions. He can get open - but it doesn't matter when no one trusts you. And just like that - no pass rush and Brees finds Michael Thomas.

I don't know that Mitch had anything to do with the offense. He isn't good - but with the play calling we saw in the 1st half, you could have asked a high school QB to make the same throws Mitch did (and same reads). In 2nd half - Mitch threw some nice balls to Robinson - about time. But penalties and negative plays. Anthony Miller is one of the worst Bears wideouts I can remember. He does so much bad and was such a horrific miss by the Bears. I think he has played his last game. I didn't even have to look to know who probably had the unsportsmanlike conduct. I already assumed it was going to be Miller. And with Mooney out that is a huge blow. Is Ridley active? This is where we will see Ridley have a good 2nd half and further indict Nagy's inability to identify and maximize his talent.

Very evident that with this regime in charge, Mitch will not be there first choice. I feel for Mitch - he hasn't even had a chance in this game. No one would with this game plan. I wanted him to go balls to the walls - 4 picks or 4 TDS today. The only blessing is the pass rush has been okay and defense has looked solid. They will need a few more turnovers in 2nd half to do this - but offense needs to come out and play a great half. Bill Cowher - yes please; Maybe this is Cowher interviewing for a gig with the Bears.

So you run straight into the middle of a very good defense with RYAN NALL? NO. Playing to win involves throwing a ball downfield and giving different looks. Right now the Saints haven't had to cover much anything. No intermediate throws, no outside zone runs mixed in, etc. Way too vanilla and way too easy to defend (with exception of the trick play).

NFL Thread 2020-2021
YOU PLAY TO WIN. Do a bootleg, do something. They attempted 2 downfield throws and both were effective (one nice catch and one drop). Outside of that they have been all within like 5 yard distance. SO EASY FOR SAINTS TO DEFEND. SO EASY. You can not win doing that. One throw to Robinson (and that isn't on Mitch - the play calling is literally 2 second and a quick throw to a covered guy who is 3 yards down the field - they aren't even letting Mitch play). If that is the case, just go to Foles Nagy. But the way the Bears have called plays last week and this week should tell everyone what they think of Mitch. There will be a new QB in Chicago next year (assuming Nagy is the head coach). I don't get it - they finally did something decent when their backs were against the wall and they finally had to play; now they have just reverted back to the same offense I saw for weeks with Foles at the helm (predictable, vanilla, and putrid).

Nagy might be costing himself that job with this play calling. This is atrocious. This is the playoffs - you PLAY TO WIN. Take some shots. Mitch got you into this position - either let him try to win the game (or lose the game) but let them play. This is AWFUL, especially with the defense actually playing well. Pathetic.

It looks like every other game Nagy called before Lazor took over. Completely terrible.

Those were two straight well thrown deep balls.

He is one of the biggest reasons the d is what it is. I think I saw a stat that said opposing qb have completed over 70 percent of their passes when he is on coverage. That is putrid.

All I know is they are screwed - no Mooney and no roquan and likely no Skrine and who knows on Johnson....really don’t like those odds.

Say what you want - but I fully believe the Bears are better than the Seahawks and Rams at this point in the season. I recognize Bears lost to Rams earlier - but this team would beat the Rams (IMO) and Seattle is just meh. Pretty clear to me that the Packers, Saints, and Bucs are the 3 NFC teams with real super bowl aspirations.
