Game Thread (9-9): Hostess Twinkies vs. White Sox
Chisoxfn replied to BridgeportHeather's topic in Pale Hose Talk
0-1 to Mienkevitz 1-1 1-2 89 MPH Fastball 2-2 91 MPH Fastball (Just misses down and away) WHIFF Mientkevitz swings and misses and stands there thinking he fouled it off. Sandy runs back and picks up the ball and throws him out at first. Great slider by Sully And that was a stupid play by Doug...run like hell and let the ump decide. -
Yep...beat up the pen not only for the Sox sake, but to make them weaker for the other teams they play.

It whould be alot harder for me to root for Guzman than Jones, but i think he whould defenitly fit in the 2 or 6 hole. Right? Jones would be a perfect 2 hole guy behind Alomar. But your right you could also insert him in the 6 hole or even the 5 hole. He's a good offensive player. The only reason he doesn't play center is that Torri Hunter is there. Your right with Jones, but i was talking bout Guzman, where you stick him in the lineup? Back of the order. He isn't an offensive force right now. Teach him and get him to grow and he could turn into a leadoff hitter. Otherwise, if he improves enough you could definately stick him in the two hole. I'd stick him in the back though at least in the beginning. You get Jones and Guzman and you'd be taking something away from the Twins and adding to the Sox. Jones is a better all around player than Carl Everett and Guzman along with Jose is a nice thing to have at short.

This is a huge inning for Sully to get out there and get a groove back. Just made a nice 0-2 pitch to Stewart but the ump didn't call it a strike. -

Pulido did alright. Through a lot of balls but kept the Twins in the game. Sox have got to get a few more runs and BUehrle needs to put it on cruise control and go seven strong. LETS GO SOX Royals losing 6-0 right now.

He's one of those guys I've raved about for a few years on the Twins. Him or Hunter would be two guys I'd take in my outfield any day of the week. Both are unbelievable defensive centerfielders and Jones is a pretty damn good offensive player while Hunter can be at times and has all the potential in the world. If Guzman is out there, look for the Sox to pick him up. Just a guess but he'd be a guy they could bring in without much pressure and mix him in with Jose and groom him. Guzman is amazingly fast and is good defensively and would be a nice 9 hole hitter, imo.

I have had the Sox game on the entire way thus far. Been watching it from exactly 7 central time.
-
If he is I'd pick him up in a heartbeat and insert him in center.
-
Dang what a turnout. I'm in 6th with 10 points. Kind of saved myself from a really crappy week.

They don't have a football team. Baseball is their true sport. They also have a very good soccer team (just found that out). Not sure how they are in the other sports and I know they suck at basketball, but they have a guy thats supposed to go Top 20 in the draft so they may be decent this year. If they had a football team, I'd be playing.

Bringing Jose back as a platoon guy is a must. I just don't think starting him is necessarily the best thing, but he may be doing that if his option vests. I have no problem with Jose as his defense has greatly improved, but he isn't very good at the plate although he is a good guy. I think the Sox plan on using Rowand/Reed/Borchard in center next year so I doubt Everett would be back, unless Thomas signs a multi year deal somewhere else.
-
He is going to be a free agent so no team will have to purchase rights to negotiate with him like the mariners had to do with Ichiro.
-
I'd put Carlos Lee, Frank and Elo somewhere on a top 10 list. Since pitchers rarely get it, I'd say Frank and Lee as well as Boone, Nomar and Ichiro. I don't buy giving it to players not on contending teams. If Jeter wasn't hurt for a while he'd be on their.

All I want to know is If I can order them online?

The Cubs got a Twin like schedule down the stretch, with the exception that they don't play any of the top flight divisional foes, like the Twins will have to (Thats right; Sox WILL HAVE TO PLAY GREAT BALL THE REST OF THE WAY). I'd call it a pretty good shot that the Cubs get there.
-
If the Sox don't get Jose's contract I got a feeling we'll see them make a serious push at someone. Everett won't be back (Not that we were paying him much) and Alomar will likely stay. If the Sox don't keep Alomar then they could add Tejada and go with a younger player at 2nd (I'd guess it would be Wee Willie). Right now I have great faith that the Sox will make hte playoffs. I am confident in this team and I'm confident that most of hte players will be back and the Sox will do even more this offseason to make the team better. I'd probably take the cheaper of Matsui/Tejada. Both would be very valuable depending on their price, considering the hole they'd fill.
-
Yep and it was on Matsui bobblehead day too. As far as the Sox and attendance I agree wholeheartedly with ya. By the way, I've only been to 5 Sox games (3 vs Angels; 2 vs Dodgers) this year plus two spring training games. If I could make more I would. And I plan on doing so if things go as I hope they will and the Sox play in October
-
Exactly. On a sidenote...gonna move this to the off topic board. And No Juggernaut shouldn't be banned. He's a good poster and he knows a ton about the Sox. He brings up a valid point and wanted to see other peoples thoughts.
-
Buehrle is my favorite. Right now I just like thinking that the Sox have 3 aces and one damn good pitcher (Garland). I hope they all stay healthy and all get better and better.

All I know is that the Big Blue will go down this weekend

Urlacher isn't perfect. Both Raw Lewis and Derrick Brooks are better then him, but he is very good at the linebacking slot and that is a more important position then the safety slot, imo. I do think that his biggest flaw is shedding blocks, but I see him improving at it and he will get good at it. He has the tools and work ethic which means it will happen. I'd say when this team gets a real coaching staff, Urlacher will be ready to make his assault on being the BEST linebacker in the NFL. He's now had one year where he really had to shed a lot of blocks, this will be the 2nd, after that he'll be ready.

Sssshhhh...and how the hell would they know, when I looked like this
