  1. Well I don't mind keeping Everett or Daubach in all honesty. I like the way both of them play. I'm more then happy with Daubbie and Everett splitting time at DH/LF and Daubach occassionally play 1st with Frank. Everett is a pretty good defensive left fielder.
  2. Please call them up and ask them to add players that pitch, defend and run. Please inform them having 5 or 6 DH's is not the way to win championships. Thanks. I completely agree with you. I'd probably move Carlos and Konerko next year. Magglio isn't whats wrong with this team, even though he is swinging for the fence more this season.
  3. Remember fans don't vote the pitchers in, so thats up to the managers. I don't think this is Rockets last year so they wouldn't give him any special treatment.
  4. I agree with you. This trade would be much better at the end of the winter meetings. I think this offseason will bea busy one for the Sox as they find ways to make room to sign some of their better players. I think realistically you could see as many as four or five decent size trades as the Sox move payroll and add payroll in certain areas.
  5. Well I've gotten every game on Sat but one, which was against the Cubs cause it was a game on Fox.
  6. How bout this. I would like your reasons of why Varitek deserves to be in the game over Frank Thomas or Bengie Molina?
  7. Agreed. The one thing is if the Sox move Magglio I'd see them adding a major league outfielder in the deal (Maybe Brian Giles) and some other things. Maggs is really valuable. Lets say its the Pads that are interested and that may be the case. You'd definately ask for Jake Peavy (The kid is damn good) and then Klesko and Burroughs. I'd really hold out for Burroughs. While you could get someone like Kotsay Burroughs is way good. Still, don't even think I'd make that deal. The Reds or Marlins could be interested. Marlins if they want to get a dominican guy that has a ton of ability and are willing to pay the money (Not likely)
  8. I think their may be some truth to this. When you think about it the Sox have all the outfielders they need. While we never would think of Maggs as the guy to go, if the right offer came up the Sox could move Maggs to fill some big time needs. Not sure what the Sox would get though, but It would have to be an all star player and great young player thats already having sucess at the major league level.
  9. Why isn't it televised? Does this mean if you get MLB Xtra Innings you just get one game?
  10. Brian Giles in the past said he wouldn't waive his no trade clause, but at that point I don't think Chicago looked near as interesting as it does now. The Pirates are still struggling even with the new stadium and the Sox really do have a pretty good nucleus and should win now and in the future. With the latest acquisitions it really shows the Sox are trying to win and that type of statement really makes a difference when it comes to a player waiving a "no trade clause".
  11. Well, I will say this. Varitek isn't the best catcher in the voting. How is he ahead of Bengie Molina who is hitting .290 and is the best defensive catcher in the American League arguably. Molina also has 49 RBI's. If Thomas is going to lose to anyone I'd want him to lose to Molina whose a damn good catcher and should be in the all star game. Also how the heck did Troy Glaus make the all star game. Geeze, Blalock and Mueller are way more deserving then him. Glaus shouldn't be on the team while Molina should be on it.
  12. In Moneyball it mentioned how Gammons is the one guy Beane will talk to because he really knows whats going on and that Gammons will tell Beane things that he won't even know about during the deadline. He basically tells Gammon I'll give you inside info if you tell me what you here. The reason Beane is so good during the deadline is he knows who is interested in what more then anyone else so he knows exactly what the market is for a player and whose shopping who. If he knows there is a guy he wants and another team has a better offer for that player. He may just offer a guy similar to what that team is looking for (Say a lefty reliever) for a cheap price. That team will then say hey if I can get him for that and then drop the offer on the guy Beane wants and he'll then jump all over it.
  13. I think KW may of made a few calls inquiring if guys were available and that was about it. Giles would be a great pickup. He really has an affordable deal and its long term. The thing I Fear is he'd be kind of a improvement the next two years and then I think he'd kind of replace Magglio who will go elsewhere if he demands 14 mill a year. Like I say 10 or 11 is about as high as I'd ever go and I'd hate to do that. Giles is like 8 mill a year longterm I think. Reports say the Pirates are looking for a team to take the salary and give them two to three good prospects. IF thats what they are asking for I'd be on the horn right now trying to get something done and then package Lee for a starter or reliever. Giles can play center better then Everett and that would be enough. As long as they get a reliever I'm happy with adding Giles. I'd probably go Thomas, Giles, Ordonez and I'd have Everett in the 2 hole with Daubach in the 6 hole. To make it easier Alomar (S) Everett (S) Thomas ® Giles (L) Maggs ® Daubach (L) Crede ® Jose (S) Olivo/Alomar ® Konerko, Rowand, Harris, Graffy and one of the catchers on the bench. Damn you don't get much more balanced then that.
  14. welcome aboard. Not to be offensive, but are you open to a name change. I can just shorten things up so it doesn't squeeze the board and you can keep the same password and your posts and stuff won't change.
  15. Rauch wasn't ready simply because his shoulder was hurt. If healthy there was no reason not to bring him up.
  16. That's it. Screw the kid up and bring him to the Bigs too early like John Rauch. Its just a spot start so in this case its no big deal. There isn't really any risk in bringing him up because its not a permanent thing. I think they would probably be best off with Josh Stewart if his stamina is back by then, but it coudl be rushing it. Ginter wouldn't be a bad option either but he's been pitching relief all season. If they don't go with any of those options then I'd say Brian Cooper or Felix Diaz would get the nod. I'd love to see Diaz.

Oh man you really don't know HSC well enough. Just wait
  18. I really have grown to enjoy DJ. I actually agree with a ton of things he says and I think he'd make a pretty damn good manager.
  19. Well I mean in a slump and I mean offensively right now. I do have confidence in the kid and think he'll continue to grow every year.
  20. Dang Olivo is bad. I would of been bunting with him soley because he's been so bad at the plate.
  21. soxfan1 I think he wants you to email it to the rest of us?
