  1. Ya, I think each team has played one game, two games max. Schnurstein had I think a 3 hit game with a homer in his debut.
  2. How about Carlos Quentin (?) playing RF for Stanford while he can barely throw. The guy needs Tommy John surgery and is playing through it. On top of that, he was still a first round pick even though they new ahead of time he was headed for surgery. Plus, he can hit a little too. ;-) Whoops for some reason I had Rob Quinlan in my mind instead of Carlos Quentin. Thats the guy I meant to talk about, lol. Did you notice that he didn't cut a ball off last night in the gap because he couldn't throw? He left it to the CF who couldn't get there and the hitter ended up on third instead of second. They were showing him in warmups and he was throwing underhanded. Ya, it turned out becoming a triple because of it. What a gamer. Two games ago he caught a ball in the outfield and flipped it to the centerfielder to throw it in.

    Fashion question

Capris are the ones that go like half calf.
  4. Just my outside opinion, but i'd think the rain would be good. A few rainouts now and you can get the pitching staff healthy again. Of course the makeup double headers aren't great on the arms either.

  6. Damn, those are some impressive numbers. I'm assuming he throws pretty hard? Vandy would have had a pretty decent staff if Prior stuck with them. I'm still shocked that Wes Littleton of Fullerton slid into the 4th round. That guy will be a good major league pitcher. I think with Veal he wants an education and so does Moviel. They are going to stick to their guns and once they get enough of a bonus, then they will say hey, this is enough to get me to skip college and I can go back once I fail. I mean give each of them 600K and they will be like hey, thats a damn good amount of money to save. BOth sound like really smart kids to, so I doubt they piss it away.
  7. Very interesting. Pretty fair trade, imo.
  8. Good point, but then again, other teams know that Loaiza might not have another season like this and I doubt you're going to get a whole lot for him. Sure, you may get a pretty damn good prospect, but I'd like to have about 2 major league ready players for him at the rate he is going this season. Well I think if he was a free agent at the end of the year you could only get two. The great thing about him is he's dirt cheap this year and you have a dirt cheap option (3.5 mill) on him next year. In all honesty for a team in the race its a no brainer.
  9. The guy I want the Sox to draft next year is Stanford's catcher Ryan Garko. That guy is an absolute stud. Way better then anyone in this years draft, imo. Stanford played a hell of a game yesterday. It sucked Fullerton lost, but damn Stanford has some big bats. Quinlan is going to be real good too. I think Quinlan and Anderson will both turn out to be very good players.
  10. I think their should be a minimum and maximum cap. Set the min around 45 mill and the max at 90 to 100 mill. The overall total salary scheme in baseball would stay the same, but it at this price range, I think more teams could stay competitive. It will never happen, but its my theory. Of course there are some ways around the min cap, like if your rebuilding you have a few years where the salaries can stay under, etc.
  11. Of course thats the smart thing to do in a sense. Thats why I'd like to move Loaiza now if the Sox are out of contention. At this rate I don't know if he'll ever have a season or stretch like this again. While I like Esteban a whole lot, I realize that if this team starts crumbling, then it will be real tough to get them ready to contend again next year. Without Colon, Carlos and Jose and if the Sox don't bring in replacements, it could be ugly. Don't know why I mentioned Jose, lol. Colon or Carlos. This is just me thinking from JR's perspective. He spent money on this team this year and they haven't done crap, I think he's going to want to pull the plug on this and in all honesty for once I'd agree with him because I think that you could really rebuild this team quick, by keeping a few of the pieces around and getting a ton of major league ready guys.
  12. We have a better shot at Moviel, but the Sox have an offer of 500 K on the table from what I've heard in regards to Veal. Not sure about Moviel. His brother is signed and is actually pretty decent. I think the Sox will land one of them, Brooks and Sweeney. If Sweeney doesn't sign, then the Sox are going to sign them all.
  13. I hope the Scrubs get Beltre instead of Lowell, because Beltre is an overhyped, average player at best. If I were the cubs and could get Beltre cheap, I'd rather do that simply because a change of scenery will do him good. Plus, I think the Marlins are asking for way too much. Last I heard they were talking about getting three of the Cubs top top prospects and in their system thats like 3 #1 ranked prospects.
  14. Its intriguing. If this team wasn't a small budget team I'd say go for it and I think you may be onto something cause I'd like the Yanks wouldn't mind unloading him and his huge contract. The thing is, imo, Jeter is a waste of space at 20 mill. If you had him at 10 mill, fine, but he doesn't deserve more then that. If the Sox were going to spend that kind of money, I'd rather try and sign Tejada and I think Tejada's price has really fallen. One guy I really like is Renteria in St. Louis. Great defensive player and he's finally developing into a heck of an offensive player.
  15. Lol, I remember that commercial.
  16. Sounds like its getting close. The question is, will the Cubs or Dodgers get him. It could even be a 3 way with the Dodgers giving up the most and getting Lowell while the cubs give up much less and pull Beltre.
  17. Farnsworth because i really think Frank is a peaceful man, kind of like Shaq. While both are huge, both seem very calm in all honesty and I don't think they get in that situation. Farnsworth is quick, but if Farnsworth tried laying a bunch, I think Frank would win.
  18. If we deal with the Yanks then Jeff Weaver is a must. Plus some damn good players. I'd probably say Nick Johnson, but there are huge ???'s about his wrist.

teamonebaseball looks really cool, but there is no way I'm going to pay 100 plus bucks for that. Now Its time for me to do some shameless promotion as I think FutureSox is pretty damn good
  20. Wilson really had no right to give crap. Farnie wanted to make it tough for him to bunt and thats what you do. I'd love to pick up Farnsworth in the pen. Heck, in all honesty, I'd love to make a move where the Sox would deal Maggs to the Cubs, simply because of what the Sox could get in return. Were talking Juan Cruz, Kyle Farnsworth, Francis Beltran, etc. Cubs may have interest in Jose, but no way will we get anyone good for him.
  21. i was just thinking out loud jas... if we did pick him up that someone would need to be moved.. and i just figured with the way the s***ty season has progressed closer to the toliet that a salary dumping is coming up...........if we pick him up im thinking that lee or worse yet maggs would be one to go...... not that i am for that mind you but i feel the white flag on the rise here......picking up cheaper in replacement for the more expensive is gonna be happening if we gain anyone.... I think if the Sox are to give up, Gapler would be a good guy to have, cause he can play all outfield positions and is still relatively young. I'd be willing to move Carlos Lee and Rios and find out how to get Encarnacion and Kapler into Chicago with Harris and Magglio around him as well as Borchard eventually. Oh ya, for everyone that talks about how quick Dunn figured it out, remember he's hitting .200 (give or take a few points; thats what it was yesterday before he struck out in the 8th or 9th to Kerry Wood). If the Sox aren't going to keep Maggs, move him now and really get this rebuilding process going. Basically if we dump Maggs, then dump anyone else that won't be here after next year as well as Paul Konerko. I'd also be tempted to move Thomas if thats the case as well, cause two years down the road you don't know. Remember, this is if the Sox want to go on a year and a half rebuilding process. I would probably hang onto Buehrle because at 23 or 24 he is still going to be a part of the future of the team even after that year and a half.
  22. You here that KW...Peanuts. You don't even have to give up your 50 cents.
  23. Well Jimenez doesn't make much, so who are you thinking of? I know no one would claim Konerko. I'm intrigued, do tell Michelle.
