I like Hawk and DJ a lot.
  2. He isn't really young, I see him as a Carlos Lee type and a good pick-up but nothing breath taking. For Colon he would be the guy to throw in over Rivera from the Yanks to make the deal. The difference is he's an above average fielder and a good baserunner. I'd rather have Jacque Jones, but Nixon is a guy I like.
  3. The thing I want to know is when do players get taught that not running out is ok. Whenever I played if you didn't run out a ball you were benched. I don't know anything but playing at full speed because it makes things happen. In college I never see players, at least not on Fullerton, not run out every play and I'm assuming if they don't they get benched (Unless they are injured or something) yet in the majors it happens. I'd stick to that same philosphy. If your in shape, your not going to injure yourself running hard down the line. Its just something called hustle.

This year he's hitting .300 with a .387 OBP with 9 HR and 42 RBI. He also has 33 walks and 48 strikeouts. He has 3 stolen bases (not been caught yet). 12 Doubles and 4 triples. His ops is .900 with a .514 slugging percentage.
  5. I think the Sox may have to bite the bullet and eat some salary unless Paul really turns it around soon. It's about the only way those guys move anywhere around the league. Frank to 5 hole, Maggs to 3, and then must find a 4 hole hitter...Crede eventually in a few years? Borchard? Well I'm fairly confident the Sox will do the BoSox deal and I can only hope they are smart enough to get Nixon, who I'd be tempted to put in the 3 hole with Maggs in the 4. But having Nixon in the 2 hole and picking up a cleanup guy would be nice too. Heck, if Sox were serious, they'd make some trades this year, and make a run at Tejada. There are other ways to accomplish these things though. All I know is the Sox can't continue to go with a one dimensional team. Lee, and Konerko or one of them and Thomas has to be gone. Thomas is the best of the bunch, so he should stay. Of course I have no problem with Lee on first and somewhere in the back of the lineup. As long as two of them are gone for something, I'm happy. Carlos also probably has the best trade value, although Franks may not be too bad now that he's heated up.
  6. Oh ya, I also drew a ton of walks. I didn't have the talent, but was well educated in all the areas that could make up for it.
  7. We will just call you IFP (Infield Power) from now on.
  8. I seem to be similar to the player you are/were I miss playing baseball so much now. I'd do anything to be 12 again and be able to play some little league and high school ball again. I'm with ya on that. I so want to create a team with my buddies and join a league.
  9. How lazy can a guy be to work back from a broken neck, etc. This guy wasn't supposed to play baseball again and here he is. I know I say this a lot, but it has to mean something. No I am not defending his stupid mistakes. I think he needs a coach that puts a fire under him, etc. I also don't buy into this cancer crap cause I see him laughing with players all the time when they pan into the dugout shots.
  10. I heard Nevin's coming back in August. Ya, theres some talk he'll be sooner. I was at that game where he injured himself and it was brutal. I really like Nevin though, he'd be a great pickup in my opinion. Not saying the Pads would do it, but if they want to get younger it would make sense. Plus he's more marketable for their new park. Still, it would be a tough sell.
  11. Pk is definately the toughest guy on the Sox to move. I think the only way they can do it now is if they take on salary for him or take on an injured type guy (Maybe Nevin). If I'm the Sox I get the one dimensional guys out of the lineup with the exception of Frank. He's more then willing to stay around if he can stay around .285 or so. But in the 5 hole, not the 3 hole.
  12. My baserunning and smarts were probably my best asset. I never had the "5 Tool Talent" so to speak but I was always one of the best cause I never did something stupid. If a pitcher wasn't paying attention, I'd take an extra base. Outfielder held onto the ball to long, you run when you wouldn't. Almost never would I get thrown out. I mean during a game (Less during major league baseball) you get opportunties when you catch a player sleeping and for me I'd always take advantage of them. Was also a good defensive player and a good pitcher. Hitting was never my strong point. I never learned how in the hell you hit opposite field. Going opposite field for me was hitting it over 2nd base. Also was a good bunter. Damn I wish I could still play all the time instead of just playing every once in a while.
  13. Isn't he supposed to be moved eventually cause he's going to get some money. We could pay him similar to Carlos Lee and get such a better all around player. Luckily I think Jeremy Reed will be a similar type of player. I'm really high on that kid.
  14. Hell, it wouldn't be all that bad if the Sox moved Koch for Weaver, moved Lee for Ponson (maybe we throw in a lesser prospect like Jorge Nunez) and then were able to land Nixon and Sanchez. Then move Jose to the Cubs for a reliever. Move Flash to the closers slot, slide Wright into the setup gig with Marte, etc. Rotation is dominant, defense is good and the sox could win. In this deal I don't ask for Fossum and hold onto Flash. The team would be more prone to win. I would love to get Jones, but I don't see it as possible. Sox do that, and I wouldn't be against dealing Jon Rauch and a prospect or Jimenez for a new 2nd baseman and the Sox would have a hell of a team. Although I think under a different style coach, Jimenez will be really good.
  15. The only player on the Twins I dislike is Jacque Jones but having fun out there isn't a crime. Man, I'd love to get Jacque Jones in left for the Sox. Geeze would he be a huge upgrade over Carlos. Just like Trot Nixon would be. LF hell, Jones is a good CF, who just happens to be playing next to one of the best defensive CF's in the game. I know, I'd love having him on the Sox. I've always talked about picking him up. He doesn't draw a lot of attention, but he's a really solid player. He's one of those guys I annoit, Erstad like in a sense.
  16. Good Stuff as always. Thanks

  18. Thats so huge. So many pitchers get runs early and then give blow the early cushion. Worse thing would be a stinking leadoff walk.
  19. To knock off 10 mph those mechanics would have to be really screwed up. Basically it would be him not using his legs or something along those lines and soley pitching with his arm. And if he's doing that its not long before his arm goes. I think the Sox could deal him and I'd do it while they can.
  20. I'm a huge Flash fan so I wouldn't have a problem with it. Hell, right now I think bullpen by committee is how I'd do it.
  21. You could say the same about Konerko.
  22. Well, I don't know why Garland got blasted. Yes he gave up the lead, but those were some weak hits. He made good pitches the ball squeaked through cause it was on turf. Nothing you can do on that, imo. Also, I think quite a few blamed others. I know I blamed everyone. This is a team game and they failed quite a few times. Crede's error, leaving them on in the ninth, etc. If one of the few players mentioned stepped up they probably would of win, but when so many fail every game it leaves the Sox so hopeless. The problem is most games a few players fail. I don't mean fail at having a couple hit night, but I mean fail at making contact in key situations, stupid base running mistakes, errors, etc.
  23. I like Willie. I would of had Willie in center, Rowand in left and Daubach Dh'ing with Thomas at first.
