If Rowand hits .280/15/70, I'll piss myself with joy. But I don't see it happening. Hell, I'd be happy with .250/15/50. My fear is he'll hit .235 with an OBP of .292, or something horrid like that. It was bad enough when Singleton was putting up those kind of numbers (albeit with less power) but he was much better defensively than Rowand. Then again, I don't think the numbers you suggested are entirely out of reach. I just doubt he'll be that good. I don't think there are more than a handful of CFs in the AL that put up numbers that good last year. I don't see him doing that bad. I think at worse he'll put up the numbers you suggested with the .250 avg. I think Rowand has a pretty live bat and now is about the time for him to break onto the scene. I'm not saying he'll be great, but to me a .280 avg with 20 hr's is possible for him in the future, most likely not this year. Still, in September he hit like .299 with some power. The key for him is to draw walks and move guys over, if he's doing that, I'm confident that he'll be hitting just fine.

When is the all star game anyway? Its in July right?

Be Sweet, Smile, and give her a corny saying, maybe one of those candies, but you got to hand pick it or something.

Bell is a bum. He's done. Jason Dellaeoro could hit as good as him at the major league level.

I hope that is a weekend. Either way, I'll find a way to see that game on TV. Nothing I enjoy more then the first game of the season, well other then the Sox winning the last game of the postseason

This was a really good signing for the Orioles. Call me nuts, but they could shock everyone and finish 2nd in the division, but it would take a lot. It would of been more likely had they signed Pudge.

So why can't people understand this about Carlos, the stupidass? great point. Very good point. I do think Carlos has put up solid numbers though. Plus, look at his obp and how much it increased. Their is no way to reach your potential if you don't have a good eye. Carlos showed a lot the 2nd half of last season that said he was figuring things out offensively. Look at how good his numbers are, considering he's been off.

I remember the first time I saw Caruso. I didn't have a clue who he was, but he stuck out as the most talented player I saw at Spring Training that year. The guy had amazing speed, hustled and was a really good hitter. Then he came up and started with the big club and I was a big fan of his. Of course he ended up being rushed, but he also didn't get along with Manuel, supposedly because he didn't work hard.
-
I think your right. I think Jimenez is scrappy cause he hustles his ass of and everything, but he also has loads of talent, so do Crede and Konerko. Then again, so does Erstad but he's definately scrappy and hard nosed.

He didn't bid against anyone else. I think the next closets offer was 18 or 19 million from the Braves and it was for like 5 or 6 years. Then the idiot in Texas says, hey, we'll give you 10 years 250 million. I know it was over 100 million more then any other offer. What the hell was the guy thinking. Lets not outbid everyone by a mill or two, but by 100 million. Great thinking...now your stuck with the best shortstop ever and no ring to show for it. I know JR made an offer for Arod, but I think his was like 16 mill a year.

The thing I keep reading everwhere is that Loiza is the front runner for the 5th slot as of right now, not Rauch. With that being said, we better get Rogers. I keep thinking and assuming we'd go with Rauch, but according to both the trib and sun times, the Loiza is the frontrunner. I think Rogers signs, I got a good feeling he announces it between tomorrow and Friday. I needed a nice cushion on my prediction.

He's far from being one of the worse defensive centerfielders in the majors. Right now, I'd say he's middle of the pack. He doesn't have that blazing speed or an amazing arm, but he has good speed, gets pretty good jumps, and has a good arm for a centerfielder. Heart wise he reminds me a lot of Erstad, although I can't say he will ever become the defensive player that Darin is. I could see him putting up similar numbers. Both are really scrappy players.
-
I think Crede, PK and Jimenez are pretty scrappy as well.

I think most of the xrays/mris and whatever else you can call them do a pretty good job showing tissue and ligament damage. I'm not a doctor though, so if there is someone out there more familiar on the issue, please fill us in. Great point though LDF. I've always assumed, its pretty cut and dry looking at that stuff. Then again, they always have so many experts opinions, so it can't be that easy.

I'm just glad to see everyone is here having a blast. I could never of imagined this site turning into what its turned into. Everyone is so great here. The group of posters here is very knowledgeable and I learn so many new things each day. Thanks for the kind words

sad thing is he is better than miller or chandler...really i dont think stewart would work here because the bears never think outside the box and always try and force QB's into a set sytem....with a guy like stewart you have to totally redo your offense...he has to be on the perimeter..alot of roll out passes with run /pass option..qb draws and sweeps...alot of single wing type stuff...the bears would take stewart and force him into a drop back pocket passing offense..and he'd suck we would turn mike vick into a bust Remember, Shoop used the rollout on the two lowasses, Miller and Chandler. I like the idea of getting Stewart and have been for it for a while. Then you don't even worry about a qb in the draft. You grab Suggs or Newman in the 1st. Then maybe take Mcgahee in the 2nd, I used to say 3rd, but I think he's moved up since they say he will be ready for the first game of the season. Not saying I think he will be ready, cause you'd be nuts to put him out there full time that soon. If not Mcgahee, then I'd either deal up for Doss or hope he stays there. I know some people think he could be one of those guys that slides and having him at the safety position would be a huge upgrade. Of course, I also like Bobby Gray whose coming back from injury. Then in the 3rd, I'd go wide reciever or corner, but best available athlete wouldn't be bad either. Oh ya, if Simms is here, I'd take him. Latest rumors have the Bears talking to the Browns for Couch or at least considering it. It is expected to cost the Bears a mid round draft choice, nothing in the 1st round, unlikely in the 2nd.

I've learned to forget. Every gm makes his mistakes, but gradually KW keeps getting better, imo. He screwed up badly with Ritchie. Redeems himself with Marte and Jimenez. Then screws up again with Ray, but because he believed there would be no compensation. The jury is out on the Koch deal, but at least we know we have a closer for more then just this year. Then he really kicks ass with the Colon deal, the Flash signing and the White signing. Last but not least, he'll have another good move if he gets Rogers locked up. Oh ya, he sucked up the Clayton deal, even though Myette never turned into anything. I'm not convinced what a deuche Clayton was.

I like Rowand a lot. The only guy I'd get thats out there is Beltran. Otherwise stick with Rowand and if all else goes wrong, get Borchard out there. Sure its a whole on paper, but I like the ability of Rowand and Borchard. Not many talk about Rowand and ability, but the guy is a good player that does the little things very well. The big reason I have some doubt, is that I've yet to see him prove anything over a full season.
-
Thats interesting. We definately have an excess of relievers, if you can really say that. I guess moving him to starter works cause it strengthens his arm and it isn't like he can't go back to closing. I think its a great way to get more innings and adjust quicker. Koch is about the only other closer out there that I can think of that was drafted strictly as a closer. I do like Ring though. Its a tough thing though, considering he was a closer throughout college as well.

I know, I was talking to Mario about it yesterday. I have 2 more people to talk about and have needed to finish it for like a month now, lol. Got to forget about school for a day and just finish it. I'll try to get my reading done today, then spend another half hour on it so your beautiful work can go up.

welcome aboard but there is no way mags is the second best "of'er". try vlad, bonds, dunn to name a few who are up there in what they bring. i would even say grif may be. but i like mags attitude. I'd put Vlad and Bonds ahead of him. Then Sammy and him are very close. I really think Magglio is truly one of the best players in the majors and given a few more, hopefully 10-15 ( ) and he will go down as one of the greatest players ever. Dunn is good, but potential means nothing until its realized, but he will realize it. I wouldn't mind seeing Caballo gone, but not until we know Thomas is back and is going to be back. Its obvious one of the two will be gone next year, but we need to wait till we know for sure. Then Borchard will be playing everyday and we still may need a centerfielder/leftfielder, depending on where Joe plays. I still love the idea of getting Beltran.

i will agree with that. i agree too....thinking back on all of KW's blunders...that one could very well top the list...how can he say that about a guy thats had 4 operations???...is it any wonder we lead the league in torn labrums?? We can thank Nardi for that. No way can you thank a Gm for something like that. Oh ya, Barcelo was afraid to throw the ball. I know he had injuries but all the mri's that came back said he was healthy, but he refused to throw it. He was simply afraid. I can't blame him, but I also can't blame KW for being upset. I think he knows how good Lorenzo could be. Some guys arms just can't handle it though.
-
Didn't he beat his women or something? I'm asking you cause I am not sure, but I remember hearing something a while ago about it.
-
I'd trade him, but I don't think anyone would take on that contract. They were nuts. If it were say 17 million, I'd hope the Sox would pick him up, but that ain't going to happen. I think Texas would have to eat about 10 mill of his contract each year. Then they could get some pretty damn good prospects and concern themselves with pitching. Plus, they will have a good offense with or without him.

I think your right. I guess Paco Martin, but I remember when we had Gil. I never was a Bengie Gil fan though. I know one thing, Caruso sure had an impressive rookie year.
