    Dane Cook Alert!

Alright, I'll bring my old school Sox hat.
  2. Mario's a righty according to the official site... Thats right, its Alex Fernandez thats a lefty. I'm always confusing things.
  3. I'm looking forward to the World Series...Thats Right, they will be there this year and they will win it all!!!!!!!!!!!
  4. Sorry about that 5 minute outage. I'm working on some upgrades and was transferring some new files over.
  5. Thats why I won't make any type of a bet this year. They are going to go all the way.
  6. I saw that, it was pretty cool, but I don't like the ability for people to become invisible.
  7. No one is saying you have to kill everyone who hates America. Thats like saying kill everyone who hates the White Sox. The key is kill those with the intent to damage America or any other country. I'm not thinking all should die, but if someone is a terrorist, then they get no sympathy from me. People can have there opinions, thats whats great about this country and you may disagree with policy or whats going on or simply say you hate the president. THere isn't a thing wrong with that. Its becomes wrong when those people that hate the country fly planes into Civilian buildings or blowup tunnells or simply walk into a place with explosives strapped to you. Those people get no sympathy. If they are trying to change something by killing innocent people, then they have it all wrong. Many can counter that comment by saying how are we any better, we will be killing people too and in war innocent people will die, its why war sucks, and one of the reasons I hope in my lifetime I will see a peaceful world. What the US is wanting to do isn't killing innocent people it is killing or going to war with those that are making devices, harboring terrorist or doing both. Iraq definately has the weapons and a vendetta against the US. Their people are starving and Saddam can care less. He must go, whether war is the best way, I don't know, but no way can you let him continue running things the way he has been for such a long time. It would be an attrocity to do so. Heck, a war, and a new regime, would mean that the people there could finally get food, as trade embargoes would cease if Sadam was out (I'm assuming they would).
  8. cwsox..not that alex fernandez..the 21 year old CF we gave away for jimenez...he hit 299 at AAA last year chisoxfan..mario shattered his shoulder crashing into a wall..had to have surgery ..im not sure if its his throwing shoulder or not...i hope it wasnt because he had an arm that was 2nd only to borchard as far as chisox outfielders Thanks for that info Baggs. Fernandez and Valenzula both had real good arms. Cw, let me find that report I wrote on Fernandez a while back.
  9. I disagree with you on Harris, but Harris has yet to show me anything either. I'm with you on the idea of a veteran catcher. Considering Olivo has no experience with any of these players and the fact that Paul isn't too hot at calling a game, there was a definate need to bring in someone familiar with this staff and good at calling a game. Alomar was the perfect choice. He was cheap and the staff raves about his abilities to call a game. He is also thought to be a future coach and is very willing to teach Olivo. By the way, welcome aboard. The only team that may claim Paul would be the Padres. They are weak when it comes to catching. maybe we could trade josh to san deigo and get alex fernandez back I'm all for that. I liked Fernandez a whole lot. I remember when I wrote my report about him, I was really excited about his chances in a year or two. I still want to know why we Mario Valenzula didn't play last year. It was supposedly an injury, but I could never find anything saying what. That kid can flat hit. I think of him as a left handed hitting Magglio Ordonez. Fernandez was a great tools player. I like Jimenez a ton, but man it would be sweet getting him back for someone as sorry as Paul.
  10. Best baseball movie EVER! I also like Eight Men Out and of course Major leagues. But Field of Dreams is right there.
  11. Right now I heard that they no longer think it is the tiles, but something else.

    Dane Cook Alert!

I'll try to make it to the Saturday show. Thanks for the info Cali. Also, I got some bad news on the tickets. Gary's dad said that he doesn't get any prechoice at tickets. He can only get ones that aren't selected by customers. So Gary and I are going to have to get tickets the same time you do. We need to plan it so were sitting in the same section or something. Then if we do in fact get the really good seats, then we can simply scalp ours. He put in a request for each game though.
  13. I am feeling really good about this season. I'm not going to make any bets though, I don't want to jinx my feelings of the Sox winning it all.
  14. I disagree with you on Harris, but Harris has yet to show me anything either. I'm with you on the idea of a veteran catcher. 15. Daubach is ten times the player Paul is. I don't care that Josh is a catcher, it isn't like he's good behind the plate. The Sox signed a couple catchers that same day, one of which Burke, could come up if needed. I'm with The Critic, it would be stupid to leave Daubach off the roster for a 3rd catcher that can't catch and isn't too effective with the bat. Daubach can play left, first, or 3rd in a crunch and has tons of power and was a very productive starter just last season for a pretty good team (Boston).
  16. How many did Nomar have though? I'm sure it wasn't anywhere near the 40 manos would put up over a full season at short. manos never made 40 errors in a season...he has had 2 seasons wehre he made 30 plus...out of how many in the league now....ill go on record and say if manos plays the entire year at SS..22 errors this year..we can live with that.. guess you wouldnt have been a fan of luis aparicio either..he was very similiar to manos...great range, great arm...prone to make errors...luis high for errors was 35..one less than manos...he also had another season where he made 30..his lowest total was 12..he averaged about 22 errors a season...very jose valentin-esque...his lifetime fldg pct was 972, jose 's is 956...thats only like 3 errors a season...yet aparicio is considered the best fldg SS in the game not named ozzie or honus.... Well, I'd like to of seen Aparicio play. From what I've heard he was amazing to watch. As far as the error totals, I'd assume he'd hit 40 if he played every game. Of course thats me assuming. I do think you coul be onto something that if he plays one position all season that he will have fewer errors, soley because he isn't always moving around, having to do so many other things. Shortstop is a very tough position and Jose makes plenty of amazing plays. For the first time ever, you people have actually convinced me of Jose's value and the fact that I am happy with him starting this season and maybe even next (IF he cuts down on the errors and K's) I also agree with some that have said he could hit 30 hr's. This would be the year, but he may lose out on some at bats because he'll be asked to move runners over more often, now that he's in the 2 hole. Of course, I think the entire Sox team should be willing to move guys over, like they did in 2000.
  17. Chisoxfn, these are exactly the type of mistakes Jose rarely makes, the mental errors. In fact, his baseball savy more than makes up for the occasional booted ball. I'll say this about his physical errors, someone mentioned focus and I'm sure that is the deal. His errors generally occur in non-crucial situations or when there is no one on base. It's like his focus picks up in tight games, runners on base, needing that next out type of situation. Oh I know Jose doesn't make many mental mistakes. I was just bringing up what I don't like. He does chase too many horrible pitches and makes too many errors. I think he can solve one of them, and cut back on the other (ie, Errors). If he does those two things I'll be very happy cause I know his other numbers will be better then most shortstops.
  18. Thanks for the kind words Brando. As far as what you proposed on Jose's numbers. If he had 25 errors or less, I'd call him an above average shortstop. I think offensively he's better then most shortstops, even though I wish he'd stop forcing the issue and chase all those bad pitches. I think your right when you talk about Jose and his age. He may just be one of those guys that gets better with age, ala Luis Gonzalez or Rich Gannon in the NFL. Not many even knew of Manos before 2000 with the Sox, and he's put up numbers that very few shortstops have. All he has to do is stay healthy and get the error totals down and I'll actually say that I'd like to have him back next season playing shortstop. Well, unless the Sox want to go get Tejada.
  19. I'm telling you all, the one by Sega is going to be sweet. You can have 4 man rotations, you hire and fire coaches. You set up a percentage of when your bench players come in. Its going to be sweet. That and the EA one are the two that look best to me. All Star Baseball seems like its falling behind when it comes to the Franchise mode.
  20. I think he's going to have a really good year, but I'm going to have to wait till spring training and see how he looks before I make my predictions.
  21. Jason, that was a great article. I really enjoyed reading it and I think you were right on the money with every statement you made. One question I think you missed was the Centerfield questions. Is rowand capable of handling the duties full time or should it be Borchard. Either way, the Sox don't really know what they have in center, but they definately have options in Rowand, Borchard and Harris.
