Who says Sheffield is a gang banger. From what I have heard he's mainly a reclose. Thats comment would be like calling Bonds a gang banger, he just don't like the media. That deal was good cause he got Perez, but Sheffield is a damn good player and they have a bum in Brian Jordan that is due a whole lot of money too.

But if he stinks, then he's really in a bind, especially considering he's guaranteed the money if he stuck with the Sox. I may just be greedy, but I wouldn't turn down all that money, I'd be back with the Sox if no one else was offering me anything good.

Damaso will be a great set up man. Welcome Aboard.

from baseball prospectus on the foulke trade

The Sox are looking to give him a contract extension. I'm guessing it will be 3 or 4 years avg something like 5 mill a year. -

I think Mario meant to say that Koch is happy closing, something Foulke is not happy. -
Don't let this trade fool you. This was more of a deal to unload Foulke's salary than it was a deal for Koch. Anybody else recognize the deja vu here? Everybody's in love with this Koch guy the same way everyone was in love with Toad Ritchie. Any deal KW makes now, I'm taking the wait and see approach. I hated the Ritchie deal. The only deal I've really liked so far were the Wells deal, Jimenez deal and now this deal(I'm talking right off the bat) I laid into KW when he got us Marte, because i was pissed since the guy was going to be on waivers.

Who knows, if Schu becomes the gm, I'd be skeptical, I don't want him hosing us, but if we could get a good deal I'd do it. I also read something, probably not true, but that we would deal Willie Harris and a lower level prospect for Ryan Dempster. This was from a Reds board and I don't buy into it.

Commentary: Sox Acquire Closer of the Present and Future

I know one thing, the Dodger fans don't seem too excited by this move, but hey, they do save a bit of money, and if they get someone like Floyd to play first then its not terrible, but if they sit out their and don't get anyone they will be in sorry shape. Especially since they are losing Omaar Daal. -
Cool, so I can at least listen to ESPN Radio 1000 on ocassions.

Great to hear from ya Judy. I'm so excited about having Koch here. I only heard great things about Foulke as a person and so far I've only heard the same about Koch. Man, I'm excited for the start of the season.

Hey, it got us Billy Koch.

Reports are they are interested in bringing in Cliff Floyd(As Brian Jordan's replacement, unless Jordan stays, I guess they'd move Floyd to first then?) Or they are thinking about bringing in Jeff Kent. Another name that I thought of was Ray Durham, but so far I haven't heard anyone hint his name. -

He had a bit of a control problem judging by the walks, but tomorrow we'll have a longer scouting report up on him. He's a solid prospect though, nothing special as of yet. -

I'm going to take a good look at their minor leagues and see if theirs anyone out their that really makes sense that would fill a glaring hole either at the majors or the minor league level.
-
Remember, Today, he didn't make himself an ass, or at least not in my opinion.
-
Well if they don't get Thomas, then I don't see anything great happening. They got a crappy offense, especially since they lost Karros.
-
Here's one big thing for everyone to think of. Billy Koch closed in the toughest division in baseball. He went up against other top teams like the Angels and Mariners and even a good offensive, although crappy Ranger team. Foulke, he pitched most of his games against the pathetic teams in the AL Central, most of which aren't known for having a good offense and that really includes the Twins too. Just throwing it out their for ya.

Who knows, we only have to wait till Saturday to find out. Heck, we may know sooner than then too. Plus, theirs nothing that says we can't trade him after he comes back anyway. Frank would have to approve it though.

Just heard this on ESPNews...Cub/Dodger trade
Chisoxfn replied to witesoxfan's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Lol, I do think he'll do a lot better in LA. Lets face it, he hated playing day games and he hated hearing crap for the fans. It wasn't like the guy wasn't trying, you could tell he wa trying by all the wind he was sending up to the stands. He wasn't sitting their looking at all those strikeouts. :metal -
If you ask me thats the A's responsibility. The Sox were being careful and shut him down as he was getting hammered. It could of simply been his arm was tired(He threw a lot of innings), maybe he complained of mild pain. I know KW would of at least told them that, if it was the case. Other then that its fair game, if he ends up getting hurt afterwards, than it happens.

Fox has told the Dodgers not to add salary. Also, Brian Jordan wants out and he's requested to be dealt, which is a right he has. Plus, its not like they really freed a ton of money up. They got a good amount in return, just like the Cubs did. -
It could simply be that Evans is an idiot.
