Buehrle doesn't deserve 7-8 mil a season. He deserves Barry Zito money or less, which is not 7-8 mil a season. He is about the same as a Pujols or Zito to me and neither is commanding that money yet. He needs to get 4 mil or so a season max to keep him happy now and then we offer him a big deal after his 5th full season. No way he commands 7-8 yet and if that's what he wants now, he can take a hike. No one with his tenure is being paid 7-8 million, case closed. I'm with you on that. Give him a 3 yr deal worth something like 12-15 million and then during his free agent year renegotiate and lock him up longer.

The good thing about George is that he will spend money. The bad thing is he makes it difficult on his fans. They can't see the Yanks unless you live out of the New York area or if you have sattellite or at least this is how it used to be, because of his Yes network. He also gets way too involved and makes many stupid moves like the Mondesi thing where he just blows and pisses money away. If the Sox could have that money that George pisses away, we'd be great.

Rowand is decent, but he's nothing special. He's an avg to below avg centerfielder in this league. He does play his butt off and will give you everything he's got. I'd say that right now it appears as if Borchard will eventually play in left or right with the Sox using Reed or Anthony Webster in center and Lee at DH or on another teams roster. Of course its great to have this type of depth, because a lot of players don't develop so basically the Sox need to just sit back and see what plays out. If someone struggles and can't do it the good news is the organization is so strong in these areas that they can replace within. Now at center the only other guy major league ready to play center is 2nd baseman Willie Harris and thats a big ? Borchard isn't ready and probably would be best suited for right field with Maggs in left. Webster and Reed are farther off. Reed could make a push for it next season, but he needs at least another year. I figure he's on the fast track considering he was a college grad so he's a bit older and more mature.

and may they be blessed with 80 years of losing!!!!!!!!!!

The other thing I love about reupping with Frank is the simple reason that if he does go out and hit like I think he can, then the Sox can hold a ransom for him and get a whole lot in return if they decide to go that way.
-
It hasn't been said anywhere, mainly hinted. I think the Sox payroll is 50-55 million max, but thats just an opinion I have.
-
The Yanks should take the time and keep dumping payroll cause they can dump it and still stay a very talented team.

Working on a Calendar section for the Board. Ignore the deadlink thats their please.

Its good to see Frank working his butt off. I don't like the idea of him holing himself in a place cause it just adds to my theories that he has a lot of problems mentally that he needs to solve. Still, he seems to be figuring things out and he's an amazing hitter. Of course what the heck do I know, for all I know he has a girlfriend their or family or friends.

I know this much, Nick Johnson is over-rated. Just cause they are willing to give up Nick Johnson doesn't mean the deal is going to happen. The Sox and plenty other teams have more to offer. In all honesty the Yanks don't have a damn thing left in their farm system so they are going to have to start rebuilding to a point.

I do agree that Manos should be at short if Harris or Humell struggles and proves they can't hit, but if either of them do things, then I don't want to see JM stall in making the switch.

Well first off, let me say I have no sympathy for anyone who beats a kid...I don't care what the excuse. Anyway, secondly, I disagree with the kid getting probation, but hey I guess what the Royals coach says has a lot of say and he felt he only deserved probation so if he's happy about it, I won't complain. Afterall it was him who was beaten. Still, sorry life or not their is no excuse for beating the crap out of a person who didn't do anything to instigate it.

I'm just saying, while settle for a mediocre shortstop instead of trying to do something about it. I know you don't think KW or JR will ever do that, but hey, I'd at least like to think its a possibility.

If 40 plus errors a season is acceptable to you, then fine, but it ain't acceptable to me. I'd accept it if he could hit .290-300 with power and not strike out a whole ton. Of course he'll hit .250-260 with power and will strike out 120 times if he's playing everyday. Sorry, it don't do it for me.

Bob Dylan and the Beatles, they are great. No....not great, but exceptional.

Sometimes you just have to get on your teammates. You can't just sit their and be quiet and think everything is hunky dorey. Sometimes someone needs to step up and wake everyone up. In Franks case he was whining like a baby...PK told him simply put to grow up and play for the team. I don't see anything wrong with that. THats about the only time Konerko has went out and said something. Valentin, now he whines and points fingers, thats I will agree cause he does it all the time while he's not producing. Valentin is lousy in my book and always will be lousy.

One thing Paulie is, is a leader and a guy that gets better every season out their that plays his butt off without complaining. He never makes excuses and is a big part of this white sox team.

Families from their and somehow when I was a kid I just grew up liking them. My dad roots for all the LA teams, well Angels, Dodgers, and Lakers but he's been a fan of the Dodgers and Lakers since he lived back in the midwest. He always wanted me to become a fan of their teams I think and well, I thought it would be funner to like a different team I guess. Also, always getting to watch them on WGN made it easy.

Yep, feedback only makes us better.

Rose and Marshall had huge games while Curry and Chandler played real good too. Both of those guys are really developing as is JWill who had 12 assists and 12 points. I think Crawford and Fizer are out of here within 2 weeks and Erob may be joining him, although I really like Erob and would love keeping him. Look for the Bulls to bring in a starting guard with Hassell coming off the bench.

Thats a cool idea. Whatever happens, we don't have to worry about trolls on this board, and I think everyone here will get respect no matter how many stars they have or how few they have. If you make good posts, people respect ya. Their aren't trolls to start trash and all those types of things.

Well, talk to Doublem about that. He wrote the column so he'd be the one to best explain to you his work. He's a good writer and a real knowledgeable Sox fan. Actually...while looking through the article, if you are couting players like Edwin Almonte, Joe Valentine, Mike Porzio, Matt Ginter then the numbers you have are off a bit. None of them will be on the active roster, but they have outside shots of making it. Those players therefor, wouldn't be playing and he's only basing the stats if they actually played. So maybe that helps you a bit. According to my math that would take off 50 decisions, which would make it pretty accurate.

Lows...The Whooping the Angels gave the Sox. I think it was 19-1 and I happened to be at that game at Edison Field. Highs...Starting the season as well as the Sox did Bright Spots...Devlopment of the youngsters near the end of the year as well as Garland, Wright, Buerhle, Marte, and others.

We won't be trading MJ to Oak-town for Lidle anymore...

Thats definately a possibility. Its really hard to go by rumors. For all we know the A's wouldn't do the deal unless they got a solid arm and KW said no. We don't know what goes on in the negotiations, so it really makes it hard to tell. -
Well, thats a great point. Whose to say the Jays won't just swing around another deal and try to get something they need, which definately could be relief. Of course they have said they wanted a veteran starter to go along with Holliday so I'd assume he would stay their. Only problem is, the Jays don't really want salary. Could they do what the Marlins did, take on salary really quick only to flip it?
