    QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Aug 7, 2017 -> 02:27 PM) Sure but there are way more guys on the planet that can do what Javy Vazquez can do. Jay Cutler is like one of the 15-20 best QB's in the world. I don't disagree. But I was always a Jay Cutler fan (and still am). Albeit, no matter how good (or bad) he does in Miami, really has no bearing on what Pace should have done. As much as I rooted for Jay, his time in Chicago had come.

    QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Aug 7, 2017 -> 02:23 PM) Blows? That's kind of ridiculous. He's an above average NFL starting QB. Somewhere in that 14-20 range. I think Cutler is better than Tyrod Taylor is but that's definitely debatable. Jay Cutler is Javy Vasquez. Javy Vasquez is Jay Cutler. Tantalizing tools...mediocre results.
  3. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Aug 7, 2017 -> 01:56 PM) What were those hints? At the end of season 6, there was a bit more growth of Brotherhood without Banners, which in the books was lead by Lady Stoneheart and there were some mysterious deaths which potentially referenced back to the books. It could just be the Brotherhood, but it could also differ.
  4. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Aug 7, 2017 -> 01:25 PM) Yea I don't think introducing a new character in Lady Stoneheart is smart. Gendry would be my guess You are probably right (less of a surprise though as Gendry has been confirmed to return this season), but they hinted at Lady Stoneheart a few times, so I could still see it.
  5. QUOTE (TRU @ Aug 7, 2017 -> 12:39 PM) If you're into spoilers go to IMDB and look at the cast list for the next episode I am not going to look...but I must presume it is the return of Catelyn Stark as Lady Stoneheart. They certainly alluded to here last season.
  6. QUOTE (bmags @ Aug 7, 2017 -> 11:53 AM) We actually have no idea the extent to the role LF has played in everything the last many seasons. I do think the TV show is setting up Arya to kill LF when she hears from Bran something bad he did. LF is a great character (not in the sense that I like him) but in the sense that even him behind the scenes, you just have no idea what is going to happen. He is a total wildcard. For all we know, something is going to happen, and we are going to find out that he played everything perfect.
  7. QUOTE (TaylorStSox @ Aug 7, 2017 -> 11:52 AM) He's been behind the death of Ned, Cat and Rickon along with Sansa's rape, but you know, has he really done anything to the Starks? I completely forgot that Osha & Rickon died.
  8. By the way, none of us are in the clubhouse and working with Tim, so what makes the most sense can be very dependent on that. Club could prefer him working through it at the major league level and like the support system he has with the club. The tools and skills are there. Will be key to see how he responds to all of this adversity. His bat speed and pure athleticism is special. He'll never be a truly special player with his plate discipline, but he can be good.
  9. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Aug 6, 2017 -> 06:55 PM) I ❤️ That episode I don't even like Daenerys but man that episode was awesome.
  10. QUOTE (bmags @ Aug 7, 2017 -> 06:47 AM) Pleasant Trubisky evals recently I figure anything other then really pleasant evals would be a bad sign (given the fluff of training camp). Reality is, it is going to take him time to learn how to read a pro defense, etc. The accuracy seems to be there (which is great) but that is a prerequisite to being a good QB, the stuff that differentiates the greats from the good's / hasbeens has so much to do with between the ears. Hopefully Mitch has that gift. I do like the fact that he's made a lot of "wow" throws. Glennon has supposedly been pretty solid too (which shouldn't be a surprise, he's going to be a solid starter).
  11. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 7, 2017 -> 08:41 AM) By essentially telling him he isn't good enough for the majors. It is all in the messaging.
  12. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Aug 7, 2017 -> 08:05 AM) This is correct. Tim is having a bad year, but what are we to expect from him ? Even if he wasn't dealing with the tragedy in his personal life? And not just Tim, but any young player. Do we expect .400 batting average, 60 homers, etc? It's a process and even as highly touted that Moncada is I don't think we can annoint him King after a three or four day series. Tim has had a rough season (both personally and professionally). But it is one full-year and lots of off the field stuff he is going through. I think any premature judgments would be crazy. The off-season can't come quick enough for Tim and it will be important how he recharges and refocuses leading in to next year.
  13. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Aug 4, 2017 -> 07:15 PM) Bump... 2 straight strong starts.
  14. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Aug 4, 2017 -> 04:19 PM) Yes and no. Players can go from high-A to the MLB in about half a season, so in that regard I would agree completely. On the other hand, the difference between high-A and AA seems to be the biggest jump of any within the minors, so you really begin to weed people out. In general, I think it is a pretty ballsy assertion to say that players will go from A high to MLB in half a season. That would be more the exception to the rule vs. the norm. Reality is you are talking more like 1-2 years, for special prospects, possibly on the shorter-end, but that also depends on overall maturity and experience level. If you are a 19 year old-kid, I'd put that gap probably wider then even the 1-2 year mark.
  15. QUOTE (StrykerSox @ Aug 4, 2017 -> 01:46 PM) Just like we have two years (18-19) to see if Anderson is more 2016 or 2017, we have the same timeframe to see where Delmonico fits in. That play last night was atrocious- like one of the worst I've ever seen from an MLBer. So, does his defense improve? If not, but his bat plays out, I don't know who would prevent him from being a DH in our contention window. Exactly, we have a window to give guys like Delmonico at bats. If he gets better defensively and hits up to his talents, we might have something. If he doesn't, he isn't getting in the way of what is currently around / near the major league level, and we know and can try someone else.
  16. He has all the looks of a big league hitter. I don't know if he'll hit enough to make up for his defense or not, but the guy can hit. Hopefully his defense has improved with time in the outfield (and his bat is as good as I think it can be (as I really like his offensive upside...more so than most). The boy is strong.
  17. QUOTE (joejoedairy @ Aug 4, 2017 -> 01:29 PM) Godaddy was trying to sell me the domain name soxtalk.com I refused. It's funny how those ads do that, since the actual domain was not for sale (and was not expired, etc). The domain that the server/host site sits on had some issues, which caused DNS issues that took a lot longer than we anticipated to be resolved. At some point in the near future, we will likely be upgrading servers/softare, which will cause a "planned" near-term outage (most likely during the long-offseason). During that time, the goal would be to have a temporary site-up while the main site undergoes maintenance.
  18. Thanks for the patience while site was down. Thankfully it happened after the trade deadline!!!
  19. DNS changes are funky. Might work on your phone, but not computer (or vice versa). Takes about 24 hours for everything to be totally cleaned up. So could be some clunkiness until tomorrow.
  20. Please note that the site encountered a DNS issue earlier today. Site is back online, albeit, for some, it might take a few more hours until everything is clear. If you know someone running into issues, if you have them clear their cache, that could help. Apologies for the inconvenience. Thank you for your patience while the outage was restored!
  21. QUOTE (WhiteSoxfan1986 @ Jul 31, 2017 -> 04:56 PM) http://baseballhall.org/discover/caught-in-the-draft This is a list of every hall of famer drafted with their position. Remember, the draft didn't begin until 1965. No. 1: Ken Griffey Jr. No. 2: Reggie Jackson No. 3: Robin Yount, Paul Molitor, Kirby Puckett No. 4: Carlton Fisk, Dave Winfield, Barry Larkin No. 7: Frank Thomas No. 15: Jim Rice No. 22: Craig Biggio No. 29: George Brett No. 30: Mike Schmidt No. 31: Greg Maddux Interesting. Only 14 hall of famers drafted in 1st round since 1965. By the way, thanks for adding that key point about draft not beginning until 1965. How many hall of famers in total since 1965? Just curious as to % of hall of famers.
  22. Only one player selected #1 overall is a member of the hall of fame (Griffey Jr). Chipper Jones will join that club and Arod should be in that club (whether he actually gets voted in or not is to be determined).
  23. Chargers notoriously get stuff like this wrong.
