So I haven't really said much on this, but James Shields commented yesterday I guess about Sale and basically said from the time he's been around him, he's been one of the best clubhouse / lockeroom guys he's ever been around. Given Shields overall sterling reputation (from a lockeroom) perspective, I'd take it as a plus. Obviously in the heat of the moment, he did something he shouldn't have done, but Sale had complained multiple times about the jerseys (last year and again in spring training when they had him try it on). He still should have worn them and not did what he did in the end, but it was Hayes who basically mentioned, people think Sale is this lockeroom cancer, when in fact, it is really the opposite.

Would love to know what really happened and what drove this. Can't just be him deciding randomly to cut up the uni's. Clearly more to this, but why the hell are people leaking this crap anyway. Keep it in the clubhouse.

That said, would take a massive offer and even then as Dave Hayes reported, he puts the odds at .01% that the Sox move him. Previous reports from a day ago indicating Sox turned down an absolute haul, but as Sox fans, we know an absurd haul is the starting point (not an absolute haul). Dodgers and Rangers reportedly two teams that have showed interest, however, we could presume that given Dombrowski's ability to land big names, there has to be the possibility that the Red Sox would be discussing Sale as well.

Needs a separate thread (vs. being burried in existing massive catch-all thread). Dodgers clearly have a lot of potential prospects and even some major league pieces they could offer (you'd have to assume that the starting price tag would be Urias plus one of their young, but streaky outfielders, along with at least one frontline prospect.

This needs to be in seperate threads. What do we realistically think the return could potentially be and any other thoughts on teams in contention who might be in the market for a closer?

Are there teams who need catching help? I could see a contender looking at either of our catchers and it making sense for us to move them. Not saying we get much, but we might get a AA relief arm who could be a quality reliever. Avila has a 1 WAR in limited playing time (and a great OBP) so I presume there would be some value there. Navarro is tougher, but you could still maybe take a flyer on a lower level guy with a big arm or something.

Interesting to note that Hahn flat out said they aren't in the market to buy any rental players. That is much different from a year ago where we were all confused whether we would buy or sell. The overall tone seems much different and you wonder if there has been on voice who has been pushing for a different path in these meetings who might be getting more of that voice?

The hard part is, who do you move now vs. who do you move in the off-season.
