  1. QUOTE (Heads22 @ Dec 29, 2010 -> 11:40 AM) You can't tell from that picture if he's controlling it or not. Ya, you can. The nose of the football is on the ground and at that angle, there is no way the player could have his hands cradled under the ball. It is phyiscally impossible. And after watching the replays again today, it is very clear that you see the ball shifting and moving when he's on the sideline. The ball was bouncing all over the place.
  2. As of today, according to Rivals, Iowa has the #2 recruiting class in the big ten. 26th in the country. They are in on some other good recruits. Nice to see 4 4 stars 12 3 stars
  3. http://i745.photobucket.com/albums/xx95/th...pg?t=1293609651 Looks to me like the ball is on the ground and his hands aren't completely cradling the ball.
  4. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 29, 2010 -> 09:29 AM) I think you have to add in more of the full picture before you can compare Jenks to Hamilton. Let's hypothetically say that Hamilton had fallen off the wagon fully in 2009 (when he had that first few drinks and was wandering around asking if anyone has some coke, by his own description). Then, the Rangers cover for him. They continue investing money in him, continue giving him shots, don't bench him even while he's struggling, and finally let him go when his contract ends. They never say anything publicly about anything. Then, Hamilton comes out and criticizes the team for not giving him enough playing time. After all the covering for him that the team had done. You really would keep your mouth shut? If you were another player on that team, would you respect the team more if they continued to keep their mouth shut or if they stepped up and defended themselves? I'd find it much more pathetic if the team kept its mouth shut. An organizations job isn't to go out and air dirty laundry. No one looks good if you go back and forth with an organizaiton. I think in general the Sox have a strong reputation for taking care of players and there are plenty of guys that have said good things about there time in Chicago (Big Hurt - even after his tirade with Kenny; Griffey Jr; Uribe; Thome; Dye; Crede; Rowand). Bottom line, we typically agree a lot on baseball ideas and notions but I just don't agree that it is an organizations job to go out and publicly rip a guy because he took a shot at you. I just take the no comment approach and walk away and do our thing. Winning shuts everything up and that is what the org is and should be focused on. Now I think at times a coach might need to call a player out in the media or they need to set an example of a guy and in those specific instances there could be reasons to go to the media, but this wasn't one of them.
  5. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 29, 2010 -> 07:18 AM) That's not the message this sends. The message this sends is that if you don't want your dirty laundry aired...then keep your own mouth shut. Ripping the team that knows all your dirty laundry? That's moronic. Every one in that locker room suffered last year because of Bobby's problems, and every one of them kept their mouths shut. Bobby Jenks left, and immediately decided that he couldn't keep his mouth shut, and blamed the people who were covering for him. I don't think I've ever seen a post from you in which I've disagreed more sternly with than this one. It is absolutely ridiculous and Oney needs to keep his mouth shut. This reflects very poorly on Ozzie and it is to the point that Ozzie needs to keep his mouth shut when he talks about baseball with his family because they have loose lips. I know the organization didn't say these things, but if I'm a player and I see this happen, I think twice about coming to Ozzie with something. I should point out, Jenks problems are far more severe than the typical situation and the Sox stuck by his side through some bad moments. Jenks isn't all that different from Josh Hamilton and people seem to forget that. While Hamilton was into much harder drugs, Bobby Jenks minor league time with the Angels and his childhood are well documented and the Sox did a lot for him and I'm sure they don't like hearing what they did. At the same time, Oney can't go out and run his mouth and someone needs to shut him up. I have no doubt what Oney said is 100% true though, but still, shut your mouth.
  6. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Dec 28, 2010 -> 09:28 PM) Well Gage is kind of right because the Bears are going to get either the Eagles or the Saints, they're just not playing each other. Sorry, that is what I meant to say. My bad guys.
  7. QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Dec 28, 2010 -> 10:16 PM) It's games like that which are why it's so hard to win the confidence pool, and they happen every year. I don't see how any non Iowa fan could have done anything other than put 20 some odd points on Mizzou. Ya, cause Iowa didn't have the lead for the majority of that game? Rolleyes? Because Coker didn't absolutely destroy Mizzu's defense just as Gabbard ripped through Iowa's defense.
  8. QUOTE (Heads22 @ Dec 28, 2010 -> 10:10 PM) That was the definition of inconclusive evidence on that call. I can't believe it was overturned. I was texting Danman at the time and as soon as that catch was made I immediately saw the ball move. But that is in the eyes of a homer and it did seem like the announcers saw it. Either way, I'll take my win. After blowing 5 games this year, its nice to finally win one and I don't give a rats ass how it happened. Nice win and Coker is a f***ing beat. The hell with Adam Robinson. Iowa just beat a very very good Mizzu team with Stanzi playing like ass for the whole 2nd half.
  9. Barring a shocker, Bears will be playing the winner of the New Orleans vs Philly playoff game.
  10. I think we will see a decent amount of Caleb Hanie.
  11. Pretty sweet. I booked my flight earlier today (didnt' want to keep waiting) so I'll just have a weekend to spend in Chicago. Nothing wrong with that
  12. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Dec 28, 2010 -> 02:11 PM) This party might last all night. Beautiful, if it is still going on, I'll be in. I'll grab your cell info in the next week and shoot you a text when I land to see if I should head over or not.
  13. Dang. I just booked my airfare and I'll be getting in on the 7th, but not scheduled to arrive until 10:30PM at O'Hare.
  14. So I need to fly two weekends from now (e.g., playoff weekend). Does anyone know whether the Bears (if a 3 seed) would be playing on Saturday or Sunday? I want to know. If they play on Saturday, than I'd fly out for my meeting on Sunday. If they play on Sunday, than I'd fly out on Saturday. If I don't know, than I'm flying out Friday night.
  15. QUOTE (Heads22 @ Dec 27, 2010 -> 09:52 PM) Because Iowa invokes their mystical voodoo gods at odd times. Mizzou is the better team, by a ways, so I'm not sure either. Bulls***.
  16. QUOTE (knightni @ Dec 27, 2010 -> 06:35 PM) Yes. He was hated in Cleveland and considered to be a locker room cancer in Utah. http://www.sportsviews.com/blog/49991/The_...cers_in_the_NBA That article is pure bulls***.
  17. I don't want Ochocinco.
  18. Happy HOlidays everyone!
  19. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Dec 23, 2010 -> 04:34 PM) Wasn't the victim jaywalking? And it seems like the family just wanted to cash-in anyway. Pretty sad. Not sure how much of an impact it was, but the guy who hit Adenhart had past DUI's and was absolutely blitzed where IIRC, Stallworth was pretty much right at the legal limit. Not condoning what happened but they really were two entirely different situations to an extent.
  20. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Dec 23, 2010 -> 02:22 PM) Thats not something that requires sanctions though. And from what I understand they began a very high regulated educational program right after the incidents occurred. I don't know. USC got hammered because they didn't have a good enough tracking/monitoring program in relation to Reggie Bush. The NCAA really seems to be turning a blind eye on this whole Cam Newton thing in comparison to the hefty sanctions they hit USC with.
  21. I don't get it. I guess the players were more aware. Personally I actually support the suspensions but I also felt that Newton should have been suspended because I don't believe you can set the standard of a player not knowing being ok. He is very involved in the decision and I think it creates this loophole where a lot more parents will ask for money and leave there kid out of the process for their own protection.
  22. J4L, you just made me look like a complete moron. I texted two of my friends who like the Clippers making fun of them for getting shut out. I officially look like a complete and utter retard, haha.
  23. I won't be able to make it, or at least don't think I will. I find out later on this week, but it looks like January 9th or so is when I'll be in town for a 3 day conference.
  24. QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Dec 16, 2010 -> 01:12 PM) Sarcasm? I used to hate the guy too, but actually grew to like him a bit. People sometimes take what he says too personally, for example when he tweeted "the kids can play II".. anyone ever think that at the time it looked like Sox are making no moves and were considering rebuilding? I'm actually being dead serious.
  25. Red Sox fans are complete jagoffs. Probably the most abnoxious sports fans I've ever met in general (and that includes Yankee fans). But they tend to know there sports pretty well and there are plenty of real good ones. Very much like most other teams. But I hate no baseball team quite like the Red Sox because of this holier than holy anti Yankee/evil empire sentiment that they spew which is complete nonsense.
