QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jul 8, 2010 -> 08:58 AM) I'll argue he was on said roll when he went down. In fact his last pitch this season was a great pitch with movement and velocity. He was cruising. I'd agree. It looked like we were seeing Peavy go on one of his vaunted runs. He was what, 4-1 with a sub 2.5 ERA in his last 5 games or something like that?

QUOTE (Vance Law @ Jul 8, 2010 -> 12:51 AM) Peavy has made 16 starts (I'll exclude this 17th one from Tues). The White Sox are 8-8 in those starts. I'd say Peavy is even a bit lucky that the Sox are playing .500 ball in his starts as he's put up a 4.63 ERA. You can decide to look at this a million different ways. The Sox have won 37 games in which Peavy did not play, and all of 8 games in which he did. In two of those games, the Sox won when he gave up 7 and 5 runs. Peavy has the worst ERA of our 5 starters. He trails the team with 8 quality starts. All of these things point to the Sox should be able to continue to contend just fine with Hudson (it wouldn't shock me if he bested Peavy's 4.63 ERA). No doubt, a dominant Peavy (as he's been in some, but not most of his starts) is a huge boost, but I'm definitely in the camp that says pick up a good lefty bat and let Hudson pitch. The team is rolling right now. 23 of 29. Peavy pitched far better than the numbers, had been coming on strong, and was expected to have a slow start due to the fact that he hadn't pitched much over the past year and a half. This injury was a big loss. We built our team around pitching and who knows if our pitching will hold up. Do we have the ponies and do we have depth, certainly, but this was a huge loss. Especially when you can state that we hadn't even seen the best of Peavy yet (when he goes on a roll, he's fun to watch).

QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Jul 8, 2010 -> 08:47 AM) Anyone who says the "Miami Thrice" and crap players would win titles need only look at the 2003-2004 Lakers. 4 hall of famers on that team and they couldn't win. I think Miami will be a really good team with all three, obviously, but it's not guarantee that they'll win a bunch of rings. Dude, huge difference. 3 of those guys were passed there primes (Payton/Malone/Shaq).

Earthquake just happened here in SoCal.

That extra 2M should ensure the Bulls are able to bring over Asik.

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jul 7, 2010 -> 04:41 PM) New NBA salary cap just announced, $58.04 million. Small increase from last season, but way above projections from a year ago. Now we have even more cash to work with! They were projecting in the 56M range, correct?

QUOTE (iamshack @ Jul 7, 2010 -> 03:59 PM) Melo getting married in NY is supposedly the reason LeBron is holding the thing near NY tomorrow, according to ESPN. LBJ had dinner with Houston and Amare tonight.

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jul 7, 2010 -> 03:55 PM) Carlos Boozer has Ben Wallace written all over it. He WILL NOT be a 20/10 guy in Chicago away from Sloan/DWill. At yrs 4/5, Boozer will be the same age as Ben Wall was at the beginning of his deal with the Bulls and Boozer relies a whole lot less on his athletism. My theory is that by the end of the deal, Boozers expiring contract will be an asset, even though his productivity has declined a bit. Barring injuries, we should get 3 pretty damn solid years out of Boozer, imo.

QUOTE (SoxFan562004 @ Jul 7, 2010 -> 03:49 PM) Bucher has been all over the place! I would imagine the 6% is based only on speculation, the government would and has nailed people if there's insider stuff going on. He gained legitimacy with me for landing the Boozer news.

QUOTE (SoxFan562004 @ Jul 7, 2010 -> 03:39 PM) Boozer has accomplished a lot in the Western Conference which has been much tougher than the East on a night in and night out basis. Especially for bigs. He will now come to the east where he won't have to try and defend much bigger guys.

QUOTE (SoxFan562004 @ Jul 7, 2010 -> 03:37 PM) Strongly disagree with you on this, if not just because having LBJ, Wade and Bosh will make it easier to get a few ring hunter vets to come in for a little cheaper. I could see someone giving Lee a full boat, but no S & T at this point, it would be an all time historically bad contract A S&T doesn't have to be a max deal though. I can't see why a team wouldn't be potentially interested in a S&T. The Bulls will have some trade flexibility as well due to the potential S&T with Hakeem Warrick which will get us back a trade exception as well as our deal with the Wizards for Hinrich. These exceptions can't be combined, however, it could be used to do S&T's with other teams (maybe a Mike Miller or a JJ Reddick, etc). We could get LBJ signed and than use our trade exception and a draft pick to land Reddick in a S&T (if Orlando doesn't want him).

I'd say it is pretty legit. Now lets hope Boozer is able to set up another meeting with LBJ and convince him to join Chicago!!!

QUOTE (SoxFan562004 @ Jul 7, 2010 -> 03:28 PM) irrelevant is a strong word I used, but I couldn't see them contending for a championship, even with those two, not even mentioning health questions with Amar'e Amare and Lebron is good enough to make the playoffs. Add in the fact that they have a couple other pieces and would probably have some left-over money to add in another guy or two and well, you never know. A year from now they'll be much better too. They are in as good of shape as the Heat, if not better, imo. Plsu they technically still have a huge asset in David Lee. They could sign and trade him somewhere else using his bird rights, or at least I believe they could.

QUOTE (thxfrthmmrs @ Jul 7, 2010 -> 03:22 PM) if you are delonte west, would you really want to sleep with her? http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2010/05/17/g...o_n_578750.html looks like the depression issue is really getting to his head. I don't know, but Colin thinks its true as do a few NBA reporters/commentators.

QUOTE (iamshack @ Jul 7, 2010 -> 03:20 PM) I agree, but where else would he do it? Cbs? I think somewhere along the lines, ESPN made an agreement wtih LBJ that they'd keep there mouth shut if he'd do a public announcing. Just my 2 cents and it is a complete conspiracy theory.

QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Jul 7, 2010 -> 03:17 PM) It does give me hope that Boozer is allegedly calling Lebron and trying to sell him on the Bulls. As for the paperwork, I couldnt really read it so Im not sure what the relevance is. Now if it was Lebron's friends agency and it was moving locations to Chicago, Im pretty sure that tells you all you need to know. I think it is good that Boozer and LBJ have been teammates on the olympic team. That should help.
-
I think the bigger story is why is ESPN getting this? You want to know why (and this is my pure speculation) because ESPN agreed to cover up the whole Delonte West sleeping with his mom story. Lebron begged and pleaded to keep it hush hush. If anyone listens to Colin Cowherd you'd know that he's been harping on the fact that he has been told by ESPN that he can't report it, but he just tells his audience to google it and that he's confirmed its legit.

QUOTE (EvilJester99 @ Jul 7, 2010 -> 03:15 PM) I find it amusing that Broussard says the Bulls aren't out of it but certainly not the favorite for LeBron.. yet the f***in Knicks are?? The Knicks have noone and they will suck for years to come even with LeBron. But for 2 years Lebron told everyone that he wanted to play in New York. That is where all the New York talk came from. Clearly they can't offer the ability to win right away, but if Lebron joins Amare, with another contract rolling off the books they will be fine. They will spend money and they will do everything to win. He can build/create his own legacy there. I'd understand. I think if he dares to be truly amazing, Chicago could be an amazing place for him to play.

QUOTE (WHarris1 @ Jul 7, 2010 -> 03:12 PM) For anyone who knows s*** about taxes, finances, moves, etc...would that reported tax story even make any sense for something Lebron would do if he was moving to Chicago? It could be something. I mean, you don't just change your paperwork. What all it truly means, I'm not so sure because I really don't know what he did. I assume he is changing his mailing address to a new location, but it claims it is an agency anyway so maybe he just changed agency that manage something for him? No idea.

QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Jul 7, 2010 -> 03:07 PM) Broussard is a f***ing tool. This morning he said Miami, all Miami. Then he said maybe Miami and Cleveland. Then he said Miami Cleveland and NY. In other words, his sources are full of s***, or being the "expert" of NBA FA over at s***ty ESPN, he's just gaining viewers. Broussard was all over the Bosh to Miami stuff. He was all over the James to report on ESPN stuff. He's been pretty legit. He knows a lot, but he just is very loose with it. He said from what he was hearing his gut told him Miami was the favorite but that could change in an hour. He never said anything was a done deal.

QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Jul 7, 2010 -> 03:05 PM) adande didn't say they bombed, he said from what he heard it wasn't what lebron wanted to hear, i.e., their whole pitch was come be the next michael jordan and he wasn't about being the NEXT MJ, but the FIRST LBJ. So, they didn't stroke his ego like everyone else. Still, I dunno how a "bomb" of a presentation lasted 3 hours... I wouldn't read too much into it. Ok, that I could buy.
-
QUOTE (WHarris1 @ Jul 7, 2010 -> 02:59 PM) JA Adande said on ESPN 1000 that the Bulls bombed their presentation to Lebron Interesting. That isn't good. I was wondering why we hadn't heard anything and that could be a legitimate reason of why we hadn't heard it. Why would they ever admit that they just flat stunk. It would be interesting though, given how good they were when they tried to sell Kobe a couple years ago. And Jerry has to be a good seller, unless of course he wasn't all that interested or somehow was turned off.

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jul 7, 2010 -> 02:55 PM) David Aldridge's article says 5/80... who knows. It's all good. Excuse me, I thought it was DA, but it is from Sam Smith. http://www.nba.com/bulls/news/smith_boozer_100707.html
