  1. QUOTE (danman31 @ Jun 10, 2009 -> 10:43 AM) MLB says his last name is Ciolli. Which is it? How I come up with the names I do, well, who the hell knows. We got a better shot at figuring out how many licks it takes to get to the center of a tootsie pop.
  2. QUOTE (He_Gawn @ Jun 10, 2009 -> 10:42 AM) Its Nick Cioli. I played with him at ISU before I decided I wanted to drink my scholarship away haha. Would you be interested in doing an interview for the site? Also, what can you tell us about him.
  3. Another article on Pioli, who was the 2008 Alaskan Summer League player of the year. Sounds like we got ourselves a good baseball player here. Who knows if he makes it or not, but he should be able to rake short season ball. http://www.tribstar.com/ISU/local_story_214232837.html
  4. http://goldpanners.com/blog/?p=307 Article on our 10th round selection. More about him playing in the Alaskan league than his baseball skills. Sounds like a pretty good pure average hitter.
  5. f***....why isn't there any good tracker. BA is off by like 3 rounds and than I go to mlb's non flash version and its apparently off too.
  6. So Dyson is the only one still available. Please find a way to take him Sox.
  7. Actually maybe not...the feed I'm using isn't necessarily up to date.
  8. Volz and Dyson are still on the board, correct? So is my boy Kris Davis.
  9. Welcome aboard. Have a blast at the game!!!
  10. QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Jun 10, 2009 -> 10:05 AM) Either were reaching on alot of these California kids (big possibility), or we are scouting it deeper and have better info on alot of the more unknown kids (not so likely). I'll say this, California is a good place to be scouting. We tend to draft a lot of guys out of here as well. And it is a breeding grounds for good baseball players. Texas and Florida as well.
  11. QUOTE (jenks45monster @ Jun 10, 2009 -> 10:02 AM) Personally, I would have went with Tyler Skaggs or Everett Williams in the Comp A round. We probably could have gotten Phegley in the 3rd (maybe even the 4th). Phegley would have been long gone by the 3rd, most likely. Albeit a lot of catchers stayed on the boards for a while, at the same time, Phelgey wasn't a prep catcher so I think he'd have been gone sometime in the 2nd.
  12. Hopps is older, but he wasn't converted to the mound until he was a sophmore in college and than missed most of the 2007 season due to injuries. Was healthy in 08 and 09 and pitched good. Huge build, a lot of raw potential and a big arm. Looks like a potential reliever. Awesome build, good raw stuff. Not overly excited, but nothing wrong with this pick.
  13. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 10, 2009 -> 09:55 AM) Maybe KW has a good relationship with the Thompson family? The only negative I heard about our first day picks was that some think Mitchell was going to be there at 38, and Phegley there for our 3rd pick. Oh well, I'm sure someone we think will be good will suck, and vice versa. Our first day was good. I'd compare Phegley to a Kurk Suzuki. Great hitter, great leader, not sure whether he'll be able to stick behind the plate in the pro's or not but well worth taking a shot on. I'm going to have to guess Kenny knows Michael Thompson and feels a deal will get done.
  14. They say his strikeouts went up because he tended to go down looking a lot. It was the first season where he had an extended time to practice baseball as he was granted a break by the football coach and he improved tremendously. Everything that has been written about him (and I'll have to go off of that cause I haven't seen the guy play more than once or twice (on tv) and watched some video) talks about how much he's improved each and every season. To me thats a great thing, especially when this will be the first time he's ever focused solely on baseball.
  15. Jones also featurs a 12-6 curve and a changeup. Jones velocity has increased by 2-3 MPH over the past season so he might be a real projectable kid. He pitches in the upper 80's but has topped out at 93. Buch looks like another real nice pickup. I am glad to see the Sox stockpiling arms and as I've mentioned, I hope those three picks were guys that they think have potential and were easy signs because they have a plan to take a guy late and give him big bucks or at least make sure they give Thompson the money.
  16. I hope the Sox first three selections, which were atrocious, are a sign that they plan on giving Thompson the big bucks it'll take to sign.
  17. I like the Jones pick. Has shown low 90's velocity, but doesn't currently sit there. Nice frame, good command for a youngster, good attitude. Sounds like he's signable for the right price.
  18. QUOTE (Palehosefan @ Jun 10, 2009 -> 09:40 AM) Hudson and Carter both gave up less hits than IP, and both had better strikeout numbers. Hitters have no problem with Collops stuff apparently. Both also had very good pitchers bodies. Collop is very lean and not super tall so we better hope he has a pretty electric arm. I have major doubts, but again, I still say its a terrible pick. Again, not knocking the individual, rather the timing of the move.
  19. QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Jun 10, 2009 -> 09:37 AM) I really dont care about the stats. I mean, look at Hudson and Carter, if we can get guys with live arms and have a good chance at fixing their mechanics or whatever to improve them, then Im fine with the pick. Just dont give me a crap pitcher who also doesnt have the stuff just because you want to go cheap. I can't find anything other than he has a 2-seamer fastball. This is just flat out embarassing by the White Sox.
  20. Bahaha fathom, the first big international signing (non cuban) they make will be well, there first. They are international virgins when it comes to the big international free agency front.
  21. Collop 9th best starter in the Valley (Summer League). Small stature guy. Not sure on his stuff.
  22. QUOTE (wsgdf_2 @ Jun 10, 2009 -> 09:26 AM) I read somewhere he's 6'5" but already lost the link. Here are his numbers from 2009: http://www.maxpreps.com/california/basebal...yer&group=2 3.14 ERA in 58 IP with 56 K and 14 BB Ya, he's 6-5 with upside is about the best thing I could find. He was his teams #1 as a junior.
  23. QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Jun 10, 2009 -> 09:18 AM) Not very exciting from that. Not at all. The last two picks we made were flat out f***ing reaches. Awful selections. I'm not saying they can't be good baseball players, but these were cheapo picks and I guarantee it will show when you see the bonuses they kid compared to other guys in the round. I like the 4th rounders body, know nothing else about him.
  24. Apparently our 4th round pick is committed to UCR, who has a decent program, but nothing special out in the Big West. Had a 2.06 ERA in 74 innings of work with 72K's. No clue on what his stuff is. On second note, here's what I found: I'm wondering if he is a guy that was hurt in 09?
  25. QUOTE (Ozzie Ball @ Jun 10, 2009 -> 09:13 AM) I can't find anything on Heidenreich, anyone else having any luck? http://mlb.mlb.com/media/video.jsp?content_id=4674627 Wrong high school down, here is some video.
