  1. Alex changed it. It is messed up in IE.
  2. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 7, 2009 -> 12:46 PM) If not for 2005, I'd say 2008 was the luckiest season I had ever seen for a Sox team in the last 20 years. There's nothing wrong with luck, but I think it gave us a lot of false hope with certain players. I can't say 2005 was the luckiest season. We saw numerous offensive players play below there career numbers and our pitchers were good. We had a great staff.
  3. The team lacks pure hitters, was bound to have two of its three best pitchers go through growing pains (Danks/Floyd), and than has a rookie (or an old man depending on whether its Richard or Contrers), and a guy that is falling apart (Colon) in the rotation. So bottom line, we are going to see inconsistent play all season long.
  4. What have you done for me lately and thus far the past 10 years have been an epic disaster. Even last year where the Sox struck what might be gold on a few guys (Danks/Hudson/Beckham/Carter), you still have to realize how f***ing bad there 3rd round pick was (he would have been there 5 rounds later probably) and than the Kenny Jr pick were. Those two picks alone were utter f***ing disgraces. I also know that when the Sox last had a ton of picks, everyone raved about there draft but again ignores the fact that we reached on numerous players in that draft as well. The Sox history is to be cheap. Look at what they pay compared to what the other guys in the round get and you'll be incredibly dissapointed and well, it makes sense given the lack of minor league talent we've seen make it to the majors the past 10 or so years. I'm hoping things are getting better though, but we shall see.
  5. I wanted Edwin Jackson bad too. Such a good f***ing arm.
  6. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jun 7, 2009 -> 11:31 PM) Congrats@Jason. Your crew is firing on all cylinders right now. And I for one can't wait for ASU/UNC next week. ASU is the team that scares me the most. Our west coast style of baseball with the offense we have will be tough to beat. Louisville didn't know what to do with our base-running, small ball, etc philosphy. We made em look like little leaguers.
  7. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 6, 2009 -> 07:41 PM) Jason, how did Chris Dominguez look? f***ing amazing. Hammered two bombs. Guy is a physical specimen. I don't understand how he's not a 1st round pick and I keep saying on FutureSox that he'd an excellent pick by the Sox. And one of the HR's was absolutely crushed.
  8. QUOTE (zenryan @ Jun 6, 2009 -> 05:04 PM) Fullerton might have had the easiest road to Omaha in the history of college baseball. I didn't know Louisville shouldn't have been a one seed? You can say what you want about our regional, but when you play the teams our school has played, both in conference, out of conference and have the nations #1 RPI, you've earned it. Oh and they did have to play the games to.
  9. I freaking love Trout and Evan, Trout was projected to go in the 20-30 range, possibly just outside of the first round as well. He does seem to be climbing up draft boards. I've been a big fan of his though. Great tools, great attitude, whats not to like.
  10. QUOTE (danman31 @ Jun 6, 2009 -> 04:28 PM) Absolutely. I'm still praying Crow drops, but that won't happen. I think Aaron is a much better pro prospect. I always used to tell you how much I liked Gibson, but not as the 4th best prospect in the draft. BA is f***ing nuts. However, with the Sox pick, it would be a great pick up assuming all his medical checks out okay. He might drop down to us though and I'd take a shot.
  11. Wow, we have some serious idiots around here. I don't like saying things, but wow.
  12. Bahahaa....Florida State choked big time...gave up 5 runs on 2 hits and are no losing, fater having a 5-1 lead. Since I hate all things FSU, lets go Arkansas
  13. Good thread but I'm closing this s***. Beckham is going to get his first hit in his 3rd game (Sunday).
  14. QUOTE (Brian @ Jun 5, 2009 -> 05:24 PM) Not sure who Nicole is. I like Kimberely. She was on RW: Hollywood. Rachel used to be a super hot lesbo but now she is all butch. Kimberly is who I meant.
  15. Titans go for the kill tonight at 2. I'll be in attendance. Can't wait.
  16. We might see Jordan Danks sooner than people think. ALl depends on what happens this month.
  17. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Jun 5, 2009 -> 10:17 PM) If we go into fire sale mode then ya, I'm sure we see Danks this season. I can't wait to see Danks play personally, combine his outstanding numbers so far with the talent that I've read he has(still never seen him play) and that's just an exciting prospect. Trust me when I say, we as Sox fans will be really excited about him. He's a phenomenal athlete and it'll be good to have those type of guys on the Southside after seeing some of these slower plodding teams. At least for the big time baseball fan in me, the guy that prefers, pitching, defense, speed, hitting for average, and stolen bases as opposed to sitting back and waiting for a 3 run hr. The beauty is these guys also have solid power potential. Oh and Viciedo is adjusting incredibly quickly. The guy is the real deal.
  18. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Jun 5, 2009 -> 10:07 PM) Danks is just absolutely raking right now. It'll be interesting to see how quickly the Sox move him along. If he keeps hitting at this pace, he has to be the cf next season, no? Granted, I'm sure people wouldn't be happy with another non proven player manning cf but it'd be hard to keep him out of that role imo. Apparently Buddy Bell commented yesterday that he's ready for the majors. So I think we see him this year, but that of course is because I see some massive changes going on in Chicago this season. I also think we might end up seeing all of the Bham guys shortly (Flowers/Allen/Viciedo).
  19. QUOTE (danman31 @ Jun 5, 2009 -> 08:58 PM) Why? Poreda is throwing a scary amount of walks. Viciedo is 20 and adjusting to moving to a new country and entirely different culture while playing at an advanced level. I'm not going to say I'm thrilled with what he's done, but we are seeing improvement and I think he has a bigger upside than the other guys you named. I can't disagree with you too much, I rank Danks ahead of him but thats it.
  20. I was all about Crawford last year and really wanted the Sox to get him. Still pissed we didn't nab him and instead made a serious overdraft with our 3rd round selection.
  21. QUOTE (Brian @ Jun 5, 2009 -> 02:23 PM) Jas, is it me or does Diem look hotter than ever? In previous seasons, she was kind of attractive. Maybe her association with CT, who rules, hindered her. But a couple of weeks ago when she was mad in the duel, she was smokin. I always thought Nicole was the hottest one (I think that was her name). Brad's girl is the perfect girl next door and I'm not a fan of Diem, but because she really reminds me of an ex of mine, who turned into like an insane stalkerish type (not really that insane, just annoying since we ended up working together randomly). My girlfriend absolutely hates the two lezbos though (and I use that term to describe them, not that she hates that they are gay, jsut cause I don't know there names).
  22. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 5, 2009 -> 02:50 PM) At hitting major league pitching? No. I realize Anderson's numbers are improved but I still look at him and just come away wondering. Crede never had the prettied swing either though so who knows.
  23. QUOTE (tommy @ Jun 5, 2009 -> 02:40 PM) Would you say as of right now Jordan Danks is better than Brian Anderson? I might, but thats not really a compliment to Danks, rather just a comment on how bad I think BA the hitter is. Danks probably isn't ready yet, but maybe they feel that what he needs to do to improve can be done at the big league level. I don't expect Danks to put up good numbers if he's promoted, but I think he has a good swing that doesn't have the massive holes that ANderson's has which means he should be able to figure things out. The question is, will the Sox have the mentality that they will be extra patient since they did in fact rush him.
  24. QUOTE (High Mileage @ Jun 5, 2009 -> 01:49 PM) I hope he does well. Last year, I wanted him or Buster Posey. We took Hosmer instead... Hosmer was a good pick. He's a very talented prep and he's doing a nice job in the minors, showing very good gap to gap power and I believe he'll project to hit for a ton of power. That said, Posey and Beckham are much more polished and ready to make a more immediate impact. I really liked Posey coming out as well.
