  1. Scheppers isn't making it past all of those teams towards the end of the draft. No way.
  2. Gonna be at the Titans game on Saturday, woot woot.
  3. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 1, 2009 -> 10:30 PM) I can't help but think of that recent post. "Gavin's (last) season was not a fluke." Whoever posted that, good post! Tips cap
  4. Unless the club somehow wants to have two specific Dh's that platoon and can't play any other defensive position.
  5. As of now there will not be a trade winds. When trade winds is open, the main forum is an absolute dead zone outside of game threads. Sox trade rumors are exactly that, rumors, so post them all you want in here, whether its speculation or a true rumor. Afterall, this forum is for White Sox talk.
  6. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 2, 2009 -> 08:26 AM) Well, if we're trading for Tejada we clearly need to clear out some of our middle infield. I propose Getz + Beckham for Tejada. That is clearly sarcasm.
  7. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 2, 2009 -> 08:16 AM) What if instead of going after a pitcher, KW is trying to acquire a dynamic young outfielder, and will go after Pence with a package of Poreda, Flowers, etc? Pence is the exact name I was thinking. That said, I don't see the Astros giving him up, but I'd definately send a ton of spects for Pence.
  8. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jun 1, 2009 -> 03:00 PM) Thank you. J confused the hell out of me. I wasn't sure if I was the only one that didn't understand how on earth could we clear enough cap space for two max deals. So I just stayed quiet, as I'm really not up to speed with contracts, ect. Nah, maybe my post was confusing but it made sense in my head, especially in response to Andrew's post.
  9. QUOTE (ZoomSlowik @ Jun 1, 2009 -> 02:18 PM) Huh? They don't have THAT much space at the moment unless I'm reading your post wrong. Deng, Hinrich, Salmons, Gordon and Noah adds up to $34.8 mil. Add in Tyrus' qualifying offer or an extension for Gordon and you're over $40 mil, maybe approaching $45 mil. Even at the current cap of around $59 mil that leaves you at best enough for one max-type deal ($17-$18 mil depending on the exact math). Then factor in that the cap is supposed to go down, the two 1st rounders this year, plus cap holds for 2010 picks, and they probably don't even have enough for one as things currently stand. They can VERY easily get enough space for one max deal if they do some combination of letting Gordon walk, out-righting Tyrus and trading Deng or Hinrich for expiring deals, but to make room for two max deals they basically have to gut the roster of everyone except Salmons and guys still on rookie deals. I said if they wanted to clear payroll, ie trade one of Deng/Hinrich, they could easily be able to afford two guys. Without moving them, they still are in a position where they can easily offer one max deal. Andrew made it look as if it would take a lot of finagling to be able to offer just one max deal, when in fact, all it takes is one trade for an expiring contract and we could make a play at 2 max offers.
  10. Are they even going to play this? I don't like not playing, no when the club has all this good mojo going. I hope we can get this one in, but if not, hopefully we can keep our winning ways rolling!!!
  11. QUOTE (DBAHO @ May 31, 2009 -> 01:19 AM) The Knicks are actually building a decent enough nucleus ATM. They'll prob sign Steve Nash if he hits UFA in 2010 (doubtful now since Gentry is coaching in PHX), and they'll re-sign David Lee and with him, Gallinari, this year's draft pick etc. they've got some pieces to build upon. Just how would the Bulls get enough cap space to sign Lebron anyways? They'd probably have to trade someone like Deng for an expiring contract right? But as for the Cavs, I think this series showed that they need better players down low, and a 3/4 type of forward who can stretch the floor ALA Rashard Lewis (someone better than Wally Szcerbiak). All Igauskas is good for now is hitting long jump shots, Vareajao's an energy guy at best (and the guy I despise most in the NBA besides Lebron), while there's word that Ben Wallace could retire now. Andrew, if the Bulls want they can easily clear CAP room to offer two guys from the 2010 class max deals. Doesn't mean they'd get them, but they are in a great cap position. You move Deng or Hinrich and its an even better one.
  12. And Fullerton doing there thing and making there way to the Super Regionals!!!
  13. Fullerton gets to go for the kill tomorrow. Hopefully they take care of business so I can buy my super regional tickets next week.
  14. Steve, how did you get it for free?
  15. Santos was a pretty big local prospect back in the day. 1st round pick and he is supposed to have a pretty big arm or at least did.
  16. Remember Shipps, Poreda is projected by some to slide into the pen. While I think he has a great trade value and I'm not opposed to moving him I also think he could just as easily come in and be a dominant reliever. Oh and his sinker is really good so he might very well be able to be a very very sucessful starter for a long time too and it shouldn't be a problem having a ton of lefties since the lefties all are a bit different (Poreda being a power lefty, Buehrle being crafty, Danks being crafty with better stuff and Richard having a bit of power himself).
  17. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 30, 2009 -> 12:46 PM) Then we package Shelby, Rutherford, Getz, and whoever else we don't have room for and go out and trade for Lincecum, and we've got a 10 year dynasty. Beautiful idea. Its fun when you have talented guys in the system. THey may all bust but its just fun to see fresh blood developing and at least get ideas of grandeur in your head.
  18. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 30, 2009 -> 12:42 PM) That'd be a hell of an OF if you can put Anderson and D2: the Mighty Danks out there at the same time without hurting yourself offensively. Good speed from 2/3 slots, probably solid power all around, hopefully we can get them all hitting right around .300. Man, even without considering Viciedo...that's an explosive 1-9. And you should be abl to get away with it power wise since Quentin has tons of power, BA (if he's hitting for an averge, will also hit for power, at least 20hr type of power), Viciedo/Allen/Konerko or whomever else is in the other power spots of the lineup have power and than Flowers as well with power. And again, defensively, wow.
  19. With Pods and BA hitting, I really really like that lineup.
  20. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 30, 2009 -> 12:37 PM) If Josh Fields can be a 30+ HR, .250 average, 175 K's guy, 100RBi...and Alexei can keep up what he's currently doing...then your IF is Fields, Alexei, Beckham, 1b. I like Getz, but right now he's struggling worse than Fields...and he has no where near as high of a ceiling. Beckham and Ramirez up the middle will be one of the best offensive 2b/ss pairings in baseball, up there with Utley/Rollins perhaps. If you're worried about that silly "Who will lead off" question...put Beckham there until D2: the Mighty Danks takes over for Anderson. Hopefully Anderson keeps hitting and you can slide D2 into RF with Quentin in LF. That would be a pretty damn solid defensive outfield.
  21. I think Crow would be a great pick for them, especially with them wanting to make the big splash during the international signing period. I'd back that move from the Pirates perspective.
  22. QUOTE (dasox24 @ May 29, 2009 -> 07:13 PM) Glad UVA pulled out the win, though! UVA is gonna go to the world series. They are a freaking good team. Oh and my Titans mauled Utah, using our Saturday starter. Our ace will be out there tonight against the Zags and hopefully he shows up and our offense shows up.
