AND THAT'S A WHITE SOX WINNER!!!
It all is fresh again. 3 more games. Its going to be big for this series. Beckham looked much better that last AB and I think Getz is getting closer.

Alex, you need to make the right columns wider and the left smaller and than of course we need to fix up the whole header area. Otherwise its nice.

2009 MLB Pre-Draft Discussion
Donovan Tate might not go in the 1st round. At least that is the latest talk. If he is there at 23, I personally wish the Sox would sign him and just make a fatty offer. He's a top 4 talent in this draft with a ton of upside. Sure there is bust potential, but we have a ton of veterans making big time money that we could move for something and use that money on Tate or our draft.

Who will the Sox pick this year?

Who will the Sox pick this year?
The above is a scouting report he gave of himself. I like his attitude, you got to like his stuff, and given where we are picking he might be a really good guy to take a chance on, see if you can turn him into a starter, and if not, in this day and age, it never hurts to have a power arm in your pen. Put me down for being perfectly happy with Storen.

Who will the Sox pick this year?
QUOTE (Flash Tizzle @ Jun 8, 2009 -> 10:52 AM) You mentioned Pollack earlier, doesn't he seem like a reach as well? Do you really see a small outfielder with limited power (the MLB.com video projected him as a potential 10HR a year player), albeit with an ability to make consistent, hard contact, as a first round selection? I don't see a lot of potential here. And I know, yes, he can always be converted to another position later, but this would be my 38th selection more than my 23rd. Pollack is a stud. Can hit for average, plays plus plus Defense, great baserunner. Looks like a guy that could hit .300 with a .380+ OBP, 15HR's, 20 SB's, and near gold glove defense. Combine that with Quentin and Danks and that would be pretty nice, imo. Really does everything pretty well. He mind end up being Jeremy Reed but he really does have a nice-skillset. He can also play 2B. And Pollack, like Trout, is a 20-36 or so selection.

Who will the Sox pick this year?
Agreed. He has great stuff. On a sidenote, I read where Storen might go as high as 10 to the Nationals. He has really good stuff. I didn't look much into him because I tend to hate drafting relievers, but he's got the goods. Plus I think we already have one in Poreda. I wouldn't be opposed to Storen, especially since I think we can compete soon and he should be a quick riser if he stays as a closer and if we move him to the rotation he still might jump through the system. He has three good pitches too. Click the link for a pretty cool article, with some quotes from Storen http://blogs.indystar.com/preps/archives/2...from_likel.html Scouting Report: - Low to mid 90's fastball with good movement - Hard Curve, almost sliderish - Good changeup, although he doesn't use it a ton out of the pen but worked hard on it with Stanfords pitching coach - So So Command (the reason he's in the pen)

TCQ update: If Sox Out of Contention, Shut-Down...Maybe
Wasn't he going to go on a rehab assignment this time around?

Who will the Sox pick this year?
Fathom, is there an inside thing you have there? Or are you going more the Stanford connection? I think the Sox like Storen but taking him at 23 would be a mega reach and if they do that they better f***ing take a shot one on one of there other early picks and not cheap out on everything else.

Who will the Sox pick this year?
If Arnetts there we take him, otherwise Pollack or Trout.

Giving up the long ball
QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 7, 2009 -> 12:46 PM) If not for 2005, I'd say 2008 was the luckiest season I had ever seen for a Sox team in the last 20 years. There's nothing wrong with luck, but I think it gave us a lot of false hope with certain players. I can't say 2005 was the luckiest season. We saw numerous offensive players play below there career numbers and our pitchers were good. We had a great staff.

Present Your Theories Here
The team lacks pure hitters, was bound to have two of its three best pitchers go through growing pains (Danks/Floyd), and than has a rookie (or an old man depending on whether its Richard or Contrers), and a guy that is falling apart (Colon) in the rotation. So bottom line, we are going to see inconsistent play all season long.

Sox had best returns on draft picks from 1989-1993
What have you done for me lately and thus far the past 10 years have been an epic disaster. Even last year where the Sox struck what might be gold on a few guys (Danks/Hudson/Beckham/Carter), you still have to realize how f***ing bad there 3rd round pick was (he would have been there 5 rounds later probably) and than the Kenny Jr pick were. Those two picks alone were utter f***ing disgraces. I also know that when the Sox last had a ton of picks, everyone raved about there draft but again ignores the fact that we reached on numerous players in that draft as well. The Sox history is to be cheap. Look at what they pay compared to what the other guys in the round get and you'll be incredibly dissapointed and well, it makes sense given the lack of minor league talent we've seen make it to the majors the past 10 or so years. I'm hoping things are getting better though, but we shall see.

2009 College Baseball
QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jun 7, 2009 -> 11:31 PM) Congrats@Jason. Your crew is firing on all cylinders right now. And I for one can't wait for ASU/UNC next week. ASU is the team that scares me the most. Our west coast style of baseball with the offense we have will be tough to beat. Louisville didn't know what to do with our base-running, small ball, etc philosphy. We made em look like little leaguers.

2009 College Baseball
QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 6, 2009 -> 07:41 PM) Jason, how did Chris Dominguez look? f***ing amazing. Hammered two bombs. Guy is a physical specimen. I don't understand how he's not a 1st round pick and I keep saying on FutureSox that he'd an excellent pick by the Sox. And one of the HR's was absolutely crushed.

2009 College Baseball
QUOTE (zenryan @ Jun 6, 2009 -> 05:04 PM) Fullerton might have had the easiest road to Omaha in the history of college baseball. I didn't know Louisville shouldn't have been a one seed? You can say what you want about our regional, but when you play the teams our school has played, both in conference, out of conference and have the nations #1 RPI, you've earned it. Oh and they did have to play the games to.

Draft Profile: Mike Trout
I freaking love Trout and Evan, Trout was projected to go in the 20-30 range, possibly just outside of the first round as well. He does seem to be climbing up draft boards. I've been a big fan of his though. Great tools, great attitude, whats not to like.

Draft Profile - Kyle Gibson, RHP, Missouri
QUOTE (danman31 @ Jun 6, 2009 -> 04:28 PM) Absolutely. I'm still praying Crow drops, but that won't happen. I think Aaron is a much better pro prospect. I always used to tell you how much I liked Gibson, but not as the 4th best prospect in the draft. BA is f***ing nuts. However, with the Sox pick, it would be a great pick up assuming all his medical checks out okay. He might drop down to us though and I'd take a shot.

Is Gordon Beckham a Bust?
Good thread but I'm closing this s***. Beckham is going to get his first hit in his 3rd game (Sunday).
