  1. QUOTE (Brian @ Jun 5, 2009 -> 09:49 AM) All the drama with Brad and Tori had me rolling my eyes. Don't do that in front of cameras unless producers orchestrated it. Than I sit through all that, finally get to the Duel, and I gotta wait to see who wins. Bogus....but I'll watch. Me and my girlfriend were so pissed that they didn't say who wins. It better be Torri, I hate that other chick. And despite how much of an idiot Brad is, he actually comes off as being pretty calm and anti drama so I'm guessing a lot of that was just made up and they never really fought. Either way it was entertaining TV.
  2. I'd do Poreda/Richard/Shelby and let the Cubs throw in another guy to the Pads.
  3. That was a good read. Thanks for posting it. I liked the guys interviewing style.
  4. I go with Coors Light with the domestics and he picked my two favorite beers in Fat Tire and Sierra. No wonder I'm one of Paulies biggest fans. Literally dating back to when I was like 13 years old and I saw him hit 2HR's when he was the Dodgers top prospect in the preseason game between the Angels and Dodgers.
  5. Viciedo is a lock to be in the top 100. He's young and getting better and better with more experience and I expect to see a significant increase in power the 2nd half of the season. Viciedo will be a White Sox next year and I'd rank him as the #2 prospect behind Jordan Danks with Poreda sliding in at 3 just ahead of Tyler Flowers. The main reason is the pure upside of Danks/Viciedo. Viciedo has a shot to be a Miguel Cabrera type. Not saying he will, but he has massive power potential and an ability to hit for a very high average. I f***ing love his swing. I don't know if he'll learn to draw the walks or not, but if he develops that he has the ability to be a HIGH HIGH HIGH impact player and I expect him to rank in the top 25 to 30 prospect by the time this season is done. If Jordan Danks keeps playing like he's playing, he'll be in the top 25 to 30 as well at seasons end. Cfers with his tools, mixed with the minor league prodution, aren't a common occurance. Poreda I have where he his because of that nice sinking fastball but I also love Flowers. I'd say all four guys, if they play well, have a shot at being top 50 guys. I don't know if anyone else in the system has a shot at getting into the top 100 though. Hudson/Carter have a chance if they pitch really strong at higher levels. I wouldn't anticipate any of our top picks making the list unless we draft Scheppers or something or whomever we draft signs immediately and just puts up ridiculous numbers.
  6. Sweet, I'm going to try and catch some of these game. Hopefully Cleveland will have the HD feed so I can see it in high def. I've quickly decided DirectTV is the s*** for the out of market sports fan.
  7. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jun 5, 2009 -> 10:42 AM) A blogger had the idea of a 3 way trade between the Sox, Padres and Cubs. Since Peavy would go to the Cubs, if you were KW, would you trade the same package, although if Broadway was involved, it would have to be tweaked, and get Zambrano instead? I would. I would I would. But the Sox would have to give up less than they had originally offered cause Peavy is better than Carlos. Big Z woudl fit in nicely with Ozzie and while I know people say he'd get rocked in the AL I think he has the stuff to be very good in the AL.
  8. QUOTE (Brian @ Jun 5, 2009 -> 09:19 AM) The Duel on MTV is the greatest bad TV ever. Please tell me someone else watched this past week when they couldn't spell. Of course, it was great. I watch every episode of the show too....hillariously entertaining. Oh and they made me look like the greatest speller of all time.
  9. QUOTE (Heads22 @ Jun 4, 2009 -> 04:16 PM) Hopefully it's slightly less crazy than last year. Got a little too out there for me last season. Also, in news for people that look kinda like me when I let my hair grow out, Zac Efron will be on Entourage. Bhahahahahaaaa........bahahahahhahahaha.........bahahhahahahahahaaa......bhahahahahaaha
  10. QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Jun 5, 2009 -> 08:01 AM) I guess I'm in the minority then, because on June 5th, 2009, Sammy Sosa is a Hall of Famer. Asdie from being at the steroid hearings on Capitol Hill, he was never linked to the juice. Was he on it? Probably, but untill it has an actual link to him, there really isn't anything to go off of. The numbers he put up during his peak were simply incredible. Oh, and before anyone brings up the cork as a reason to keep him out of the hall, I don't see how that is any different than Gaylord Perry being in the HOF after doctoring the baseball every start with his spitball... I'm with you Tony.
  11. I love him. Absolutely love him. He's right there with Trout for me in terms of prep OFers.
  12. Like his teammate, good arm, two good pitches and one developing pitch (Jenkins has 3 good pitches). Great build though and a really nice arm. Injuries and command are a concern though. But given his upside and the fact that we have multiple early picks, I have zero problem taking him at 23. I do think he might project better eventually in the pen though, but that could be what makes him not a complete boon/bust type of pick.
  13. I like Jenkins. He's got a live arm and three good pitches. Would have zero problem with him at 23.
  14. Poreda is better than anything offered, so is danks. So no, that statement isn't true felix.
  15. QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Jun 4, 2009 -> 08:21 AM) Their #4 and #7 prospect with Charlie Morton as an add-in is a nothing package? Huh... #4 and #7 prospect plus a guy like Morton, who I'd probably put in a similar mold of Broadway/Marquez/Egbert isn't that big of a haul for one of the better offensive Cfers in the game. One whose in his prime and signed to an affordable deal. I do agree with whomever posted it that the Sox are holding onto Poreda as bait to get a front line starter, not a position player. I figure they'll draft an outfielder early and than focus on more pitching as the club seems to have quite a few middle of the order impact bats in the system.
  16. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 4, 2009 -> 11:12 AM) After the top 4 in the order you really can start playing around with it, if you do it the way I'm thinking and we don't have a major bust. Flowers and Allen can both fit in there, Allen may well wind up hitting 5th long-term just because we want to get a LH batter in there to break up the righties. That'd slot Flowers/Viciedo/Fields down to 5 or 6. Lets just take Fields out of that equation currently, but if all goes well you'd have to peg in Allen/Flowers/Viciedo or something along those lines, cause your right, we would need to get a lefty in there. Again, all iffs, but you at least have to think there is some serious offensive potential there.
  17. QUOTE (TitoMB345 @ Jun 4, 2009 -> 11:12 AM) Is the draft on Saturday? I thought Tuesday.
  18. QUOTE (kwolf68 @ Jun 4, 2009 -> 11:10 AM) So if the Sox win today and the Tigers lose today (down 3 to Bawston now) the Sox are merely 2.5 games out of first. God Bless the AL Central. And its going to happen. Here's to being 2.5 back after today!!!! Now go get it done Sox!!!
  19. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 4, 2009 -> 09:43 AM) Kinda like the Legend of Wilson Betemit? Much more like the legend of whomever was the worse defensive player to ever play the game...times a bagillion.
  20. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 4, 2009 -> 10:52 AM) Long term...let's say Beckham winds up a .300+, 25 HR ish type guy. In that case, an ideal top of the order in my eyes is: D2: the mighty Danks, Alexei, Beckham, Quentin. Q's power puts him as an ideal cleanup hitter, D2: the mighty Danks looks like our best shot at a legit leadoff hitter in some time, Alexei is a wonderful #2 hitter on paper (good speed, makes contract with everything, very low k's), and #3 is typically where you want your best hitter, and that should be Beckham. Flowers would be a very prolific 5 hole hitter. He won't hit .300, but he might very well be a .275 hitter all while playing a premium defensive spot (note, I didn't say premium defense) with massive power and a very high OBP. I'd say Flowers has a shot to be Thome light offensively (ie, from Cleveland days) from the catching position.
  21. I'll get a shot to see one of the top 3b prospects in the draft this Saturday. Louisville's 3rd baseman can flat rake.
  22. He fits what the Sox like and I think he's the perfect fit if they want to go outfielder. He's a prep though so it'll take time to develop him. I don't know if the Sox are okay with that or not, but if they are, he'd be a great get, imo. Solid value, above average tools, heady player. I like him a hell of a lot. Another name I really like, Kris Davis, CSUF. Guy is a f***ing masher. Massive power and he played little his first two years, really came into his own this year and has a lot more power potential. The guy f***ing rakes in BP and is a very good athlete. Could be a nice pickup in the top 12 rounds.
  23. If he ends up being a nice sign I could totally see the Sox targeting him. If he thinks he's still going to get top round money, they'll pass. But if were going to reach in the 2nd round, I am cool with it cause i love his arm.
  24. It is going to take a six figure bonus to sign him. I f***ing wish the Sox drafted like that, but they won't. Even when they signed Danks, you have to remember they went cheap on some other early picks last year. And I mean CHEAP.
