  1. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 5, 2008 -> 07:32 AM) I will probably be alone when I say this, but I thought John McCain made the speech of a lifetime last night. He did exactly what he had to do last night. It was a very positive speech, unlike Obama's who spent most of the night attacking Bush and McCain, and unlike Palin, who spent most of her speech taking pot-shots at Obama. McCain actually sounded like the guy I wanted to vote for in 2000, by moving back to the middle of the road, instead of the right wing conservative crap he has spewed to try to lock down the right wing. I also really liked that unlike Obama, he was willing to stand up and critisize his own party, and their failures economically and in Washington. He also did a very good job of leaving all of the religious overtones to a very small minimum, and largely out of the speech. He actually won my vote yesterday instead of being the guy who was the guy I could hold my nose for. The stand up and fight charge at the end was the best inspiration since Bush on the rubble pile. Bravo. I thought the same as well and hadn't had a chance to post this, I thought his speech last night was VERY well done.
  2. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Sep 5, 2008 -> 07:30 AM) You do know that a majority of the speech was written before she was selected the VP, right? I think they pretty much drafted that speech after they got an advance of RSO's. It was all done with an intent to mock his. I don't care who was going to give the speech, Sarah Palin, Tim Pawlenty, whoever.
  3. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Sep 5, 2008 -> 07:27 AM) And it seemed like she was reading a wikipedia page about Iran and other countries. The Daily Show ripped her on that one last night. She wasn't up there to gain the votes of the educated, she was up there to get the votes of the emotional, non educated people, and her speech was taylored and literally dumbed down to that. And, again, I think it was written in a way to mock RSO's speech from last week, on purpose.
  4. QUOTE (kyyle23 @ Sep 5, 2008 -> 06:21 AM) Is that why if i came to the site I saw an index of files? Not exactly. We had to take the index file down that runs the board and because I didn't have another index file (until later in the day) you saw the folders.
  5. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Sep 5, 2008 -> 06:20 AM) OK so, I recorded Palin's speech (I hope). Haven't seen it yet. ANy impressions, thoughts? The MSM and their left-wing bias is doing nothing but slobbering all over her speech. I can't recall any VP candidate ever getting such positive coverage. Personally, I think that her speech was written to mock RSO's speech. Southsider and I were talking about that last night. I think it's true. Then, I kept thinking to myself, if something were to happen to McCain, this lady would be running the country and trying to deal with dignitaries around the world? Nah, it doesn't fit. At least RSO looks and acts the part, I don't see Sarah Palin as a Margaret Thatcher or anything.
  6. It amazes me that people sit there and pick this s*** apart just purely to say, HA, GOTCHA! It means NOTHING.
  7. No one in particular broke it, the post table crashed and it had to be repaired. The indexing took something like 10 hours.
  8. QUOTE (jackie hayes @ Sep 4, 2008 -> 01:47 AM) "This election is not about issues." It wasn't a slip, it's an organizing idea behind this convention and the McCain campaign. And that is the reason McCain loses. And big. If they can't win on issues, RSO's going to clean their clock in a popularity contest.
  9. QUOTE (lostfan @ Sep 3, 2008 -> 11:39 PM) I predict that by approximately 8:30 am the sky will be lighter than it is now. At 8:31 I will pat myself on the back for being right. I know, I know... too easy. In all honesty, it cracks me up because all these libs want to talk about the GOP spin machine. s***, these libs can rip apart anything faster then the GOP machine can even start up.
  10. QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Sep 3, 2008 -> 10:33 PM) AP Fact Checks Palin and rips her apart I said that the left winger bloggers would be like moths to a flame on this speech, and gee, I Was right.
  11. QUOTE (bmags @ Sep 3, 2008 -> 08:00 PM) so why'd they feel the need to republicize it? Because they are big liberals? Because it's news on page A13 or whatever the hell back page it was. Republican? A1, top and center, baby!
  12. QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Sep 3, 2008 -> 10:25 PM) I cringed when the crowd lauged. Making fun of a community organizer, especially one from an area where it's important, is just not good. At best, it looks ignorant and it worst, it looks almost racist. I really didn't like her doing that, but I've already make that pretty clear. The dems will jump all over that if they know what's good for them. They will. Frankly, her speech had a hell of a lot of places that they could flat out BURY McCain's whole damn election chances. It's turned into a bunch of who can dodge the s***balls the best.
  13. QUOTE (Steff @ Sep 3, 2008 -> 10:24 PM) MSNBC and CNN are harping on it and all the chicks appear to be "greatly offended" rolleyes, puke, etc, etc... so you might want to have a chit chat with that s***. I respect anyone's opinion over that two bit jackass. Including some reporters on MSLSD, sadly enough. My comment was more the reflection that Harry Reid is a freaking dolt, not that she isn't shrill. To be honest, I agree. I just hate Harry Reid, probably about as bad as any Democrat this side of Nancy Pelosi. I can actually somewhat respect RSO. I disagree with him and his policy, but I at least somewhat respect him.
  14. QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Sep 3, 2008 -> 10:10 PM) wow. Harry Reed called Palin "shrill". Not good. not good. Harry Dirtbag Reid? Please. His opinion matters about as much as my dog's pile of s*** he just left on the ground outside.
  15. QUOTE (bmags @ Sep 3, 2008 -> 07:08 PM) Just wanna say HECK YEAH!!! I miss Nuke Wus. GIVE ME A f***ING HELL YEA!!!!!!! b****ES!!!!!!!! EAT s*** INJUNS!!!!!!!!!!!!!! YEAAAA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! There. That's better.
  16. QUOTE (bmags @ Sep 3, 2008 -> 06:07 PM) You know, at least give credit to the NYT then who started with the most definitive articles on Hunter Biden and his lobbying controversies. No, because that was pretty common knowledge from way back.
  17. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 3, 2008 -> 05:40 PM) Senator Obama will make an appearance on the O'Reilly Factor tomorrow night, opposite Senator McCain's speech. Wow.
  18. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Sep 3, 2008 -> 05:43 PM) "tiny" does not necessarily mean physical size. You sound like you have some personal experience in this matter. d'oh!
  19. Yep, about the same value, I think. That's why I do like the WSJ - GENERALLY - they report the news and you just decide (Fox cliche aside), although their board tends to lean to the right a bit.
  20. QUOTE (Alpha Dog @ Sep 3, 2008 -> 03:36 PM) Anyone recall when Bush selected Chaney as his VP, the grief he got for having received 5 draft deferments? Biden had the same amount of deferments. And, despite being a college football player and all around athelete, after the deferments ran out he received a Selective Service classification of 1-Y, (in 1968, middle of the war) meaning he was available for service only in the event of national emergency. due to a previously undiagnosed case of asthma. Maybe Democrats who gleefully questioned Cheney’s manhood and patriotism over this issue should now explain why they support a candidate for the same office with the same record of deferments. I heard this on a news clip this morning. Now if it were, say, Pawlenty (assuming he got picked), this would be spalshed all over the NYT front and center. THAT's media bias for you.
  21. QUOTE (DBAHO @ Sep 3, 2008 -> 03:13 PM) Does anyone good of a good site on the net to do personalised invitations to send via e-mail that is free (e.g for a b-day party), otherwise I will just use Powerpoint. I think evite.com? Or e-vite.com (I forget what the "official" domain is)... google it.
  22. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Sep 3, 2008 -> 04:04 PM) Maybe more Republicans should start publishing trashy magazines too. QUOTE (DrunkBomber @ Sep 3, 2008 -> 04:07 PM) Maybe we will! Yea, it's called the Limbaugh Letter.
  23. QUOTE (WCSox @ Sep 3, 2008 -> 04:20 PM) If you turn over to Fox, you'll see either Geraldine Ferraro or Susan Esterich (both Hillary surrogates) accusing the liberal media of sexism and predicting that a full 1/3 of Hillary's female supporters will vote for McCain... ON CAMERA, every day. I think it's obvious that there is some serious media-sniping going on in both parties, because one or more key players was pissed off about the VP picks. The Clintons are obviously working against Obama so that Hillary can run again in 2012 and it's perfectly reasonable to assume that some of the GOP base want to undermine McCain (for obvious reasons). I said to someone the other day that I swear Hillary knew what was coming re: Palin.
  24. QUOTE (jackie hayes @ Sep 3, 2008 -> 04:15 PM) And both are, relative to the USSR, tiny in both population and economic size. Again, unless you think he was saying that Canada is a major superpower, more powerful than the US, then your argument is just a red herring. Agreed. Yes, he said "tiny" and in the same sentance (or thought) said in comparision to Russia (or the USSR, I can't remember which in context). Look, I'm NOT an RSO supporter in any way, but this is a jackass argument and it's stupid every time I hear it (read it) brought up.
  25. QUOTE (Rex Kicka** @ Sep 3, 2008 -> 04:02 PM) It's no worse than the cartoons or attempts at humor that get posted on the GOP thread. Sarcasm is one thing, these "blogs" trying to pass this off as "fact" is another. Again, this comment is not directed at BS at all, except that it gets passed on again and again. If I think something's bulls*** over there, I'll post the same damn thing.
