  1. QUOTE (TheBigHurt @ Jun 20, 2008 -> 02:58 PM) Why isn't it? If he's cruising and fairly low in pitch count, WHAT reason can you have for taking him out, and especially for Uribe, who's a terrible hitter? The fact he got a hit doesn't even matter. It was a terrible decision. It was also pretty bad to not put in Linebrink instead of Dotel in a situation like this. There can be all kinds of reasons for what happens in a game - Danks could have been told before he ever went out there he was only going 6 today - you all don't know that. But it's obviously more "fun" to sit here and rip every decision that's made and b**** about it after the fact when it doesn't work out. It's a GAME. Oh well, I'm wasting my typing skillz here.
  2. You know, why is it a bad decision to take out your pitcher, who's 23 (or whatever Danksy is) and turn it over to your bullpen? They've been pretty damn good this year. And besides that, let's leave Danksy in for 100+ pitches, every game, and then start listening to you all b**** about how Guillen has become Dusty Baker and blows out all his pitcher's arms by overusing them. WTF. No one can ever win with some of you people.
  3. QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Jun 20, 2008 -> 10:03 AM) Because it is news directly related to the flood and I'd have posted it if it were Obama or Clinton or anyone else. It's NEWS. ok. Somehow, I doubt that. But, I'll just leave it alone.
  4. QUOTE (The Critic @ Jun 20, 2008 -> 10:39 AM) Thrashers are denying the report: http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/chi-20-...0,7957900.story What the f*** does Anderson need to do to get a chance? All he's done at the IHL and AHL level is win. Maybe they're just denying it until after the draft. Wow, that's sad. He deserves a shot. Although, Brad McCrimmon was supposed to have Atlanta wrapped up. I know Brad... he's a good hockey guy. But so's Anderson.
  5. QUOTE (lostfan @ Jun 20, 2008 -> 09:26 AM) Every once in a while you should try rational thinking, and it will help prevent you from making posts like this. Seriously, this is a horrible, horrible post on many levels. I'm going to have to assume you're talking about 2004/2005 since the war actually started in 2003, and that's when the country was still basically a big black hole that was headed nowhere. Nice.
  6. QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Jun 20, 2008 -> 09:43 AM) I DONT want to make this political, btu this isnt very good press in a key swing state... McCain opposed flood control money for Des Moines in 2007 Then why the f*** did you post it? *sigh* You do know that ALL politicians are scum, right? I bet Barack has voted against some things that he shouldn't have from time to time, surely, right? It gets old.
  7. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 20, 2008 -> 08:45 AM) Or the "Finish f***ing High School and Go to f***ing College or I will kick your ass" pact my dad made with me... Yep.
  8. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jun 19, 2008 -> 09:29 AM) There would be few people on here that could walk up to the first tee with an injury like that, let alone go out and win a major tournament including a playoff. Its amazing. Vicodin is an amazing thing. Just sayin'. Still, though, it is pretty crazy to think what he just accomplished.
  9. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 20, 2008 -> 06:38 AM) He has proven everything he can at that level. Hopefully he does well. John Anderson has absolutely paid his dues - and I'm glad it's Atlanta giving him his shot - as he's very familiar with their roster since he's coached almost all of them coming through the system over the years.
  10. QUOTE (Steff @ Jun 19, 2008 -> 03:56 PM) IMO, It's easy to teach them... it's reinforcing it that's the hard part. "Sex ed" isn't a one time "the birds and the bees" talk as I know a lot of parents who think it is. These days most teens grow up in 2 parent working households and a lot of parents just don't have time to keep track of what their kids are doing. And when you have kids learning about sex from eachother, tv, the internet, or the movies this is what happens. As for making girls watch an unedited (I do believe an edited version is shown in elective sex ed classes), undrugged birth.. that wont do anything. They are smart enough to know that all they have to do is ask for drugs. Besides, the birth is the easy part of the big picture. Forcing them to take care of a newborn for 48 hours with no help would be a better, IMO. It's certainly a wake up call (literally) to have teenagers have to watch a baby for a week. That certainly hits the point home.
  11. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 19, 2008 -> 10:15 AM) Twin bits of good news on the crude oil front.... China annoucned they are raising the gas prices in their country and Saudi Arabia announced they are increasing production 200k barrells a day. Crude is down over $4 as we speak, and still falling. It needs to go down about $40 per barrel.
  12. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 19, 2008 -> 10:17 AM) That's the short definition of the disaster that this administration has perpetrated on our laws. You know, half of me hopes that President Obama flip flops and decides to be ridiculously corrupt. Because with the power that the Bush administration has grabbed for the President (with the willing help of the Congress), he could decide to become a corrupt near dictator and the law wouldn't be able to stop him.
  13. QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ Jun 19, 2008 -> 11:12 AM) I wonder how you are going to stop the Cubans who are slant drilling 60 miles off the coast of Florida. The Bad American companies are shutdown by the gov, however the Cubans and their friends can drill the same waters and in some cases, drill on a slant to get our oil. I guess the Hurricanes only wipe out the American Oil Rigs, and the Cuban oil rigs are the picture of safety I am sure. But according to the libs, they're not doing that.
  14. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 19, 2008 -> 09:09 AM) But McCain is worserz!!!! That post was exactly what I wanted and expected to see. No one cares that Obama is lying right to their faces, and doing it repeatedly, AND getting defending for doing it. It is just amazing. The guy (Obama) walks on water, and turns water into wine, you know. Not only does he bald face lie, he gets praised for doing it. How does this guy's s*** not stink? I just don't get it.
  15. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 18, 2008 -> 01:30 PM) I added this to the first post of the thread for the rolling list of people who are in and maybes, and the last category of others for the event. We have 11 yes's so far. We could use double that, just in case people have to cancel at the last minute for whatever reason. Trust me, the time is worth it. Everyone who did it last year is trying to do it again this year. At this point, it will be pretty hard for me to make it. But I certainly want to try, we'll see. (looks at Pratt) I still have to back up my MVP award from last year.
  16. QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Jun 18, 2008 -> 12:36 PM) ohhh.... good point! Yea... 'cause, it's going to happen - there WILL be an NFL team in Toronto, it's just how it gets there that might be up for debate, and the Bills are a pretty likely candidate at this point, for many reasons. Not THE candidate, but a likely candidate. Sorry for the threadjack.
  17. QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Jun 18, 2008 -> 11:08 AM) Timothy J. Russert Highway So what happens when the Bills move to Toronto? (BTW, no disrespect meant to Tim Russert, just bringing up conversation, is all... ).
  18. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 17, 2008 -> 04:27 PM) I was ready to say the same thing a half hour beforehand but figured y'all wouldn't give it much credit if it came from one of the socialists. Good call, you socialist.
  19. QUOTE (lostfan @ Jun 17, 2008 -> 04:17 PM) Well, yeah. That's the point of campaigning isn't it? And I hate it. All Kaperbole ™ aside, campaigning - you might as well just have a steaming pile of stinky ass manure right behind you on stage every single time out. I can't stand the rhetoric and lies all to basically pull wool over the entire countries' eyes. And I'm not talking about one party or the other. There's just no honesty or integrity anymore to just about anything, and it disgusts me.
  20. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jun 17, 2008 -> 03:52 PM) SS, you work in finance - so I am surprised you see the math that way. In no way did Obama say he was going to fund 5 million jobs with $150B. He said he'd invest $150B in the sector, which he feels could create 5 million jobs. And I actually think that number might be conservative, in terms of how many jobs could be created in that sector. But he's not saying $150B is the SALARY of those jobs. He is saying he wants to fund projects with that money, which should help push businesses into growth that creates jobs. So, actually, the math is just fine. You may not agree that 5 million jobs could be created by the investment, but, there is nothing mathematically wrong with his statement. Damn, that's good. NSS is on top of it. I don't think that SS saw the math that way, but I do think the point remains that people can spin anything they want to in any way they want to. BUT, I do think that these candidates, without regard to party, will spit out rhetoric like this that all sounds like the world is going to be such a better place for all, no matter who is president, all because of them. Okay... sure... it's up to us, really.
  21. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 17, 2008 -> 02:54 PM) Funny math http://www.poorandstupid.com/2008_06_15_ch...462049832146448 Well, it sure sounded good to say he was investing $150 billion in alternative energy. I bet people ate that s*** up, now didn't they? That's my whole point with Obama... he SOUNDS good, but when analysis is done on what he says, it doesn't mean diddly doo.
  22. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 17, 2008 -> 10:56 AM) This is really been undercovered in my opinion. There is a straight line from these people to a guy who could be President of the United States of America, not to mention lots of money being involved here. This has hardly been talked about at all in the media. Even if you ignore the obvious slant of the article, the meat of it is pretty important (then again their definition of ordinary property owners, would be the Dem's definition of "rich" but that is another story.) We have money essentially going from CEO's directly to Senators (the dismissal of 5 digits worth of fees, or even $75,000 in Dodd's case!) who then in term have pushed for the government to pick up their losses. Not only that, but this same CEO who made the phone call ended up on the VP search committee team before his past got seriously questioned. This is influence peddling on a Chicago type scale going on right under our nose. http://newsbusters.org/blogs/ken-shepherd/...rs-loan-scandal To me, this is the perfect example of "media bias", because if this were a Republican, it would be front page news everywhere, because those old coots are taking advantage of the rich inner workings in Washington! By the way, I guarantee that there's more then the Democrats mentioned in this - probably quite a few ®'s in there too... but if the line is easier to trace to a Democrat, it will not gain that much traction in the media.
  23. Yea, there's going to be a lot of crap that got washed out. Water is a powerful force.
  24. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jun 16, 2008 -> 03:22 PM) Hello Now that post right there, that's why you get poster of the year...
  25. QUOTE (jackie hayes @ Jun 16, 2008 -> 03:29 PM) It's not just this race, it's every damn time. God forbid anyone looks mean in the eyes of Parent f***ing magazine. And if they get one, all HELL will break loose if you don't deign to give something else to Good Housekeeping. Laura Bush's Texas Brownies with Barbecue Pickins (cocaine optional). Hillary's chopped weenie sandwich. It's such a farce. Yep. You have some good recipes there -
