QUOTE(Rex Kicka** @ Nov 16, 2007 -> 09:19 PM) It's really easy to start keeping people in, once that wall is built too. For "security." oh goodie. Our country is trying to keep us in!

QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Nov 16, 2007 -> 08:47 PM) Obama may not have the experience yet, and he may not win... but I have to say, I've liked him more and more as the campaign has gone on. He screws up here and there like everyone else, but, he looks to me like a real, actual future statesman. And I think he's got a more positive and more cooperative approach than most anyone in the race. I may not agree with all of his stances, but I do think he's got a bright future and has less skeletons then the rest.

Very interesting. I also think that after the olympics, you will see China go WAY backwards on infastructure and the like.

Can't talk about REAL issues in a Democratic debate... it just can't happen. All sarcasm aside, it's downright shameful the political process. And that has nothing to do with party affiliation.

QUOTE(YASNY @ Nov 16, 2007 -> 06:15 PM) Hey Nuke. Glad to hear you are safe and still fiesty. I just wanted to say that I am behind you guys 100%. No ifs ands or buts about it. However, I also have to point out that I believe GWB is setting us up to become a socialist state. The crap coming from the government, I don't believe at all. They have ulterior motives that are not beneficial to the USA or it's citizens. At same damn time, I wish the MSS would just tell the truth about everything and stop filtering things to enhance their political agenda. I guess what I'm really saying is you cannot believe anything that either side has to say. It's all totally 100% bulls***. God Bless you and your buddies and hope you all come home safe and well. Exactly. BOTH parties have ulterior motives... it's called how to maintain power. As an example, if this field of presidential candidates doesn't scare you about the politics of today, you're just plain ignorant of what this country faces. A GOOD third party candidate would win in a landslide, but the laws that exist are so difficult to overcome. The source of the laws? Both Dems and Re-pubes who all but guarantee that they keep themselves in power.

QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Nov 16, 2007 -> 05:43 PM) Mold tends to smell musty/earthy/mildew-like. The "water damage" mold ^^^^^.

QUOTE(Steff @ Nov 16, 2007 -> 05:09 PM) Does mold smell? What kind?

QUOTE(Steff @ Nov 16, 2007 -> 04:46 PM) Dog owners who leave their dogs out in the yard for hours despite them barking at the sliding door to be let in.... I think I'm over conscious on this one. My dog starts barking at all I'm all paranoid and whisk him in the house, even though he's supposed to bark and let us know people are around that aren't supposed to be. Guard dog extraoirdinaire...

QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Nov 16, 2007 -> 01:52 PM) Actually, I'd suggest it isn't the fault of the owners or the players. Well, maybe the owners a little bit. You want to blame someone for high salaries? Most of that blame falls on... us. The fans. The money is there to spend because we spend it. Yup. That's right. Corporations can't do deals without the "sports and entertainment" schmoozing, hence the corporate suites. It's an absolutely disgusting industry. As much as we b**** about politics and money and people's struggles, it costs the common family tons of money to watch a GAME now. It's insane. How far does it go?
-
QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Nov 16, 2007 -> 02:33 AM) Why? If people are willing to pay them that, that's the owners' fault. The MLB is absolutely loaded with cash too, BTW -- I thought I remember reading that the percentage of money that is paid to athletes in MLB is least when compared to the NFL and the NBA. The sports and entertainment inductry is SICK. BUt that's just a whole 'nother argument.
-
Not particular to Torii Hunter, but to all athletes. YOU MAKE TOO MUCH f***ING MONEY. Seriously. It kills me to see all this.

Yea, there's not a lot of danger of Lake Michigan drying up any time soon.

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Nov 14, 2007 -> 05:34 PM) Link That's a nice steaming pile of s*** right there.

QUOTE(YASNY @ Nov 14, 2007 -> 04:17 PM) There's that word again. First...
-
First enforce the laws that exist. That would pretty much "strengthen our borders" by cutting off the demand for illegals alone.

QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Nov 14, 2007 -> 02:02 PM) I am sure it came off as such, but I am not saying the military doesn't deserve some credit for it. The pressure I am sure helped a lot. But the situation itself, the turn of events if you will, was prompted outside of what anyone expected, myself included. I don't think anyone here predicted or anticipated that these chieftains or whatever you want to call them would suddenly, somewhat en masse, decide to step back, and reach out to the Iraqi government. That was not a militarily driven event. And just to be clear on this too... I am not saying these things because I think the military is incapable. I think they are very capable at the things they are meant to do. But they are stretched way too thin, even with the surge. And they are, still, the military - they don't reach out to political leaders to make compromises or increase involvement (usually). So the fact that this isn't a militarily driven shift is in no way a reflection of military failure - its a reflection of a change in the non-military situation, which resulted in some military-related consequences. Is that more clear? Yessir. As some other posts have alluded to, I think there had to be both components happening to allow for a political outreach. It seems like that is happening, and let's hope that it goes further then the "scratch the surface" junk that we're just now seeing.
-
QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Nov 14, 2007 -> 12:58 AM) The military doesn't control anything now more than they did. Heck, even these articles that think its about the surge... have you seen any that made any sort of point as to anything the military has done to "take more control"? They haven't. Heck, when the surge started, that wasn't even a goal - the goals were about more penetration, saturation of chosen areas, etc. Deaths are down because the bringers of that death are on voluntary hiatus. I sincerely hope that hiatus can become something more. oh, no NSS, the military shouldn't get ANY credit. Come on. You're better then that. I know, I'm parsing words, but the root of your post is just not true. I think they go hand in hand. Read Nuke's posts, and I've read some others that are very similiar, and I don't think it's propaganda bull s***, either. These people have the proverbial foot upside their head and are now being asked to be a part of the process. It doesn't happen unless the military changed tactics - which they did.

Happy Birthday! Looney Tunes rock.

QUOTE(Rex Kicka** @ Nov 9, 2007 -> 11:41 PM) Well, if they passed a fix, some of them do. They have never passed a real fix, they pass a law every year using stop gap measures.

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Nov 9, 2007 -> 06:58 PM) In this country, yes. If you have decent insurance that doesn't cut you off or the money to pay for the drugs, there is no reason why you can't live an unbelievably long time. If you don't have the money or aren't well insured, then you're dead. Never fear, Balta. HillaryCare will take care of us all. I get what you're saying... and it's not pretty, but I will NEVER get the "entitlement" arguement, which is of course veiled in your comment.

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Nov 9, 2007 -> 10:51 PM) It was quite rich like 40 years ago when it was instituted. Which is why some sort of fix is fairly important. Yea, the AMT has never been indexed for inflation. They're f***ing idiots, and none of them give a s***.
-
Well, I will get hit and hit bad if this doesn't pass in some shape or form. Not only AMT, but college deductions, sales tax deductions, property tax deductions are all set to expire, and I'm eligible for all those. And then most people get hit with the AMT as well? f***ing bastards. News flash to assholes in Washington... $80-$120K of household imcome IS NOT RICH, you f***tards!!!!

QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Nov 9, 2007 -> 05:00 PM) Note I just submitted on the Obama website: Good call. Seriously. I look at the area I live in, and wow, I don't see how mass transit could be done here with the way everything's spread out. How do we address the urban sprawl and mass transit? That becomes extremely expensive. I look at Chicago, though... and what a beautiful system they have and it's all going to crap, by all accounts.
