QUOTE(Texsox @ Sep 6, 2007 -> 03:53 AM) And if they didn't cover his campaign at all, some would b****. I get it, they have to run a shot of a lesser Dem candidate right next to the Rep candidate. Of course then some would complain based on outer edge, below the fold, etc. Cute answer... but you can't disprove what I'm saying. Thanks. Now let's move on.

This is why we have an illegal immigration problem.
kapkomet replied to NUKE_CLEVELAND's topic in The Filibuster
QUOTE(Middle Buffalo @ Sep 6, 2007 -> 04:46 AM) Ironically, many of the people who are most outraged by the US illegal immigration problem are in favor of the war in Iraq. A war that we are fighting (it's been said) in order to give the Iraqi citizens all of the rights and liberties that we hold so dear in this country. Why don't we want to extend this great gift of freedom and the American way to all people? No one has said in this thread they don't want them here. What we HAVE said is that we want them here LEGALLY, or GO HOME. Big difference. I'm fine with a real program that doesn't give them a path to citizenship. If they come here legally, and then apply for citizenship, great! More power to them at that point. -
QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Sep 5, 2007 -> 09:37 PM) In plenty of outings you see him throw a curveball that flies over the catcher's head because he doesn't finish it or it slips out and then ten curveballs later he's got a beautiful curve a couple of times over and then boom, it's gone again. He's a headcase, sure, but his problem is mainly that his arm is nowhere near the power arm people thought it was, too. His stuff isn't as good as whatever Kenny William's scouting report says about him. How many times can you contradict yourself in one post?

QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Sep 5, 2007 -> 09:21 PM) I am speechless.

Prove my point wrong. Brownback has no support, that's not a surprise. But it's amazing how the AP publishes that pic, and not a crowd shot for the lesser Dem candidates. It is a funny picture, regardless.

QUOTE(29andPoplar @ Sep 5, 2007 -> 09:10 PM) The Tigers are getting deperate. They need a shot in the arm big time and are hoping Kenny Rogers is the spark. Tigers are now 3.5 out in the wild card and almost out of it totally in the division. Very interested to see how Floyd responds. He did very well against Detroit the last time but now they've seen him and they are good hitters. He will need to adjust. Another character test for Floyd and it appears they are starting Donny Lucy behind the plate. Floyd needs to go pedal to the metal for 5 strong innings, if you get 6 or 7 that's a huge bonus. If he flops tonite you will see either Broadway or Phillips in to mop up. Huge game for Detroit and I think they will be patient with Floyd and make him throw strikes. He will need to do what Garland did last nite, work in a lot. Let's hope he's got bite on the curveball tonight. I want to see him succeed because I think his biggest problem is confidence, the arm is there. Exactly. Couldn't be more right, and that's why they still have him in this situation.

QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Sep 5, 2007 -> 08:47 PM) Sorry to troll the GOP thread but this is hilarious. Poor guy. http://news.yahoo.com/photo/070904/480/5ca...c18a7e2ebe0f469 Nice camera angle. Now you notice that the Dems can't get a camera angle like that, now can they (unless of course, it's a full place)?

QUOTE(Brian @ Sep 5, 2007 -> 01:47 AM) Got my car title in the mail!! All paid off! Sweet!!! Yea, now drive it til the wheels fall off. That's probably the one piece of advice that I wish I got getting out of college and getting my first "real" job - you do NOT need a new car. The more you can drive your old POS, the more money is in your pocket both short term and long term.

Senator Larry Craig convicted of lewd conduct in men's bathroom
kapkomet replied to Balta1701's topic in The Filibuster
QUOTE(Texsox @ Sep 5, 2007 -> 06:55 PM) I agree, and in general, the GOP does seem to handle these better than the Dems. I believe it is because the Dems are much more willing to accept that there are gray areas in behavior and give people a lot of chances, believe they can change, etc. The GOP is usually, and let's not start tossing out a hundred examples to the contrary, a one strike and you're out kind of organization. Now this one is an easy one with a GOP Governor. Once again, I would prefer a system where the Senator's party affiliation is kept. It would make these things cleaner for everyone and avoid the "we have to save him or we lose a seat" situations. Yep. And that's why everyone was so quick to say he should resign. It's a bunch of poo. Vitter should go as well, politics be damned. -

QUOTE(Texsox @ Sep 5, 2007 -> 06:27 PM) What I dislike is whenever a Dem or Rep gets caught like this people believe it somehow sullies the entire party. Anyone who believes the validity of a group as large as the Dem or Rep parties is lost when one member falls, is either living in a fantasy land or so blindly partisan that they can no longer face reality. Craig's actions in that bathroom, and his last ditch efforts to savage any credibility, should not have any broader implications than his personal. Tex, good post. -
Based on that, then, I would recommend getting a print server that you can plug right into your router using standard network cables. You then assign the print server an ip address and set your printers on the network to print to that ip. If you watch, you can find those print servers for under $50.

What type of printer do you have?

QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Sep 5, 2007 -> 12:54 PM) Have you actually been to the new park in the last couple years? It doesn't seem you have, if you think that all they changed was the paint job. And I am fairly certain that they are not at all trying to make it Comiskey - they are trying to make it a solid ballpark for both younger and family crowds, and they've done an excellent job of it. I'm still pissed off that we didn't get to go in after the softball game Memorial Day weekend. I really wanted to see the new improvements.

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Sep 5, 2007 -> 01:43 PM) One interesting thing to throw onto the fire regarding an Ozzie extension, is that his team has actually outpreformed their expended wins number (based on Bill James Pythagorean theorum) significantly this year. They are six games over their expected record. Only two teams in baseball have a better mark, and that is Arizona at +11, and St Louis at +7. What is this? (and it's a serious question). I've heard of it, I think, but can you please explain?

QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Sep 5, 2007 -> 01:02 PM) pled under duress? I have seen arguments made about statements or confessions under duress, but we are talking here about pleading to a charge in front of a judge, some period of time after the arrest. I have never heard of someone challenging a plea agreement under those circumstances. Has anyone else? Honestly, no. But it's the only thing I can think of that he is going to try and swing. He mailed in his guilty plea, much like a speeding ticket, because it was a misdemeanor. I mean hell, at the very least, plead "no contest"... but from what I understand, it was "guilty"... so I have no idea what this guy is going to try and pull. -

QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Sep 5, 2007 -> 12:46 PM) How on earth would he be cleared of the charges he already pled guilty to? The only thing I can think of is he is going to say that he pled under duress or something like that. The more this guy talks, the stupider he sounds. He just needs to go away now. -

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Sep 4, 2007 -> 03:43 PM) If the uninsured don't go bankrupt when they get sick, God kills a kitten. Again, people have choices. It's all up to the individuals. Healthcare (a high level policy) is available to most who choose to get it.

QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Sep 4, 2007 -> 01:52 PM) Newsflash - you still have to pay. Do you think Doctors are just going to donate their time? We'd all pay - just a matter of how and when. This is one of the reasons Edwards has a following, and why he would be an awful President - the guy convinces people that there is some mystical pile of gold waiting for the "working class" in America, that the mean rich people are unlawfully withholding. Its just not there. Exactly right. And so does Mrs. Bill Clinton, which is why she is just as scary.
-
QUOTE(Alpha Dog @ Sep 4, 2007 -> 04:04 AM) Edwards is into the whoel nanny-state thing it seems. He wants to force you to go to the doctor. http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20070903/ap_on_el_pr/edwards The appropriate paragraph: This guy just scares the s*** out of me. But so does Mrs. Bill Clinton - and she's going to win anyway.
-
Damn. Tampa won, too... we should have lost today.

Your last post was interesting... do you think that is a lot of why we are having so much trouble over there (the group that took your place aren't really in it to calm things down like your unit...).

John Edwards - "Americans should 'sacrifice' SUVs for Env
kapkomet replied to sox4lifeinPA's topic in The Filibuster
QUOTE(NUKE @ Sep 2, 2007 -> 02:44 PM) Why? Why should we allow these sanctimonious politicians to exude sacrifice of the rest of us while they gleefully exempt themselves from their own rules? You think John Edwards is going to give up his private jets or his fleet of cars? If he's so damn worried about the environment he should fly commercial, have his mansion turned into wetlands while he moves into a 1000 sq ft home and take public transportation everywhere he goes. As long as he is a candidate for president, honestly, that's not practical. After he loses to Mrs. Bill Clinton, THEN he needs to give up all that s***.
