Well, as for the topic, how many people ON THIS FORUM were ready to burn the bridge down? Kotex Boy has a point. Read everything here, and you'll see it rings somewhat true.

s***, come on people. If my sorry ass can fly in from 1000 miles away, we certainly can get 10 people to show up for our team, can't we?

Well, for starters, N-O A-M-N-E-S-T-Y. Bye!

QUOTE(spiderman @ May 20, 2007 -> 09:32 PM) Moore is an idiot. I really hope people here don't embrace his politics. Oh, you'd be surprised how many people here think along the same lines as him.

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ May 21, 2007 -> 11:20 AM) In all seriousness, if those are the candidates on the major party ballots, it makes the Unity08 thing a done deal, and a major contender. Somehow, I doubt it.

QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ May 21, 2007 -> 03:32 AM) Unfortunately, I have been thinking more and more that Romney v Edwards is precisely what we'll see in November of 2008. Its too bad really. That would be absolutely horrible, if that happens. It's way worse then the Goracle vs. Bush in 2000. Neither thrilled me then, and Edwards and Romney are both of the same mold.

It might be wisest to trade him last winter, while you could still get something for him. Oh wait a minute... Nevermind.

QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ May 18, 2007 -> 10:29 PM) Since when is taking the worst parts of both sides' ideas and combining them a compromise? Exactly. This is the biggest horses*** bill to come out of Congress in a long, long time.

QUOTE(Soxy @ May 18, 2007 -> 03:41 PM) Fittingly, this is the best birthday thread ever. Happy Happy Birthday Spiff! Uh huh... he also saves orphans upon orphans of clueless baseball fans with his charm and wit every day... Happy Birthday!

QUOTE(BigSqwert @ May 18, 2007 -> 03:11 PM) Balance, I'll be keeping an eye out for the Tesla sports sedan. It has definitely peaked my interest. If all goes well I'll have solar power in a few years and hopefully the Tesla. That would finally cut out oil for me. Screw big oil and the middle east. Do you have anything plastic? That's made of oil. Certain clothes? Oil. Etc. etc. etc. I agree that some of these things will make a huge dent (which, it needs to), but I'm curious if we could ever get off of oil for good...

The Goracle is abosulutely the best president we never had, isn't he?

There are taxes (mostly at the state level) that are %... now that's slightly different, but it's the same point. Allocations, smallocations. Social Security taxes coming out of my paycheck sure as hell isn't for social security. Earmarks don't mean crap in Washington.

Happy Birthday!

This is something that was advertised in the fall... I'm going to close this thread for now, and we'll inquire further. -
Come on, sheep. The government is just fine with gas prices being high because they get their cut. Why (besides special interests up the ass) are they dragging their feet so much on alternative energy? Because gas taxes are HIGHLY reliable as a revenue source for the government as it stands right now.

I have 3 desktops, and two laptops. How exciting.

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ May 17, 2007 -> 12:05 PM) I think she will actually have pretty solid commericial success too. She is much more like what you hear on the charts today. Exactly, which is why at the end of the day, Melinda got voted off. Melinda will get her success... but she doesn't have the range that Jordin will have (has) . I will predict that Jordin will be one of the biggest Idols ever, should she win, if only because she has so much upside.

QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ May 16, 2007 -> 10:49 PM) You are comparing REVENUE for the government to PROFIT for the company, so I don't think that's a fair comparison. You would want to compare oil company profits on oil production (possibly including refinement for other purposes than gasoline, like plastics or commercial oils), to the net amount the government makes AFTER pegged purposes for that revenue (specific amounts for transit and what not). That would be a profit vs profit comparison. Or, just go on revenue - oil company revenue versus tax revenue on the given product set. Those are like-for-like comparisons. REvenue for the government = straight profit, because the government has no expense against the collection of the gas tax.

QUOTE(Rex Hudler @ May 17, 2007 -> 04:10 AM) I was disappointed to see Melinda leave tonight, but it didn't surprise me. I just can't grow to like Blake. I know he is talented, but not enough to be the winner. Jordin will win this thing. Can't say this season was nearly as strong as past seasons. Jordin >>>>>>>>>> Taylor Hicks. That is all.

QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ May 16, 2007 -> 09:11 PM) I have a very hard time believing that the government makes more money on oil than oil companies do. Do you have any stats on this? And are you comparing revenue and revenue, or profit and net gain, or what? Just curious what makes you think that is the case. Loosely held, the "big oil" companies make about .08 to .12 cents on refining gas. What's the federal tax on gas again? Ummm hmmm. And I just re-read my comments - I should have said that they make more on GASOLINE then the oil companies do, not oil itself.
-
The government makes a hell of a lot of money off of the oil... WAAAAAAAAAAAAAY more then "big oil" ever does. Do you think that could just possibly leave these idiots to drag their feet on real alternative energy?

Just don't throw crap at the guy who has all the problems with the server (and no, it's not Jason this time...) I can't wait to see ya'll.
