  1. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jun 15, 2007 -> 12:00 PM) I get the feeling this immigration bill is payback to the corporations for the new minimum wage increase... I think that's part of it, but wait a second! Most of these illegals don't work for corporations, because that would suggest that corporations only have jobs that americans don't want.
  2. OK, Bush is offically a f***tard on this issue. NOW, after the bill got killed the first time, NOW, he's "SERIOUS" about securing the border. Hey stupid ass! You can do that WITHOUT giving amnesty and bloating the government rolls by tenfold! Man, this issue really pisses me off. ENFORCE THE EXISTING LAWS. It's pretty much THAT simple.
  3. QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Jun 14, 2007 -> 07:36 PM) So not wavering is more important than him being wrong? I rather have a leader that waivers and is ultimately right. I understand, I really do. But I think history (if the politicians would get their collective heads out of their asses and finish things the right way) would vindicate Bush on Iraq. Based on what we "knew", it was the right thing to do, WMD's or not. And Gore would never say he changes his mind on Hussein, he'd pull a Hillary. That's the problem with these (village) idiots.
  4. Was the intelligence so different in 2000 when Clinton, a month before he left office, talked about Saddam as a "grave threat"? Oh yes, because the patron saint Bill Clinton (YOUR HERO) REALLY destroyed Saddam Hussein. Gore is a hypocrite on almost every issue. Bush may be wrong, but he certainly doesn't waiver on this issue.
  5. Me either... I agree with fathom, LVSoxFan, and GP on this one... this isn't Ozzie's fault, but he has to realize that these guys aren't "winners" anymore... the vets are stinking up the place, and then laughing it off... enough already. It's time to cut your losses and move on, but the minor system is in shambles, and Ozzie knows it. That's why he's impatient: he knows the cupboard's pretty much bare. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jun 14, 2007 -> 03:42 PM) How can you not be a fan of a guy named Razor Shines? Because he's an arrogant horses' ass? Oh, maybe I'm wrong.
  6. QUOTE(fathom @ Jun 14, 2007 -> 04:03 AM) Does it really even matter anymore if Ozzie is our manager? This core group isn't going to get it done, and the next time we're going to be in playoff contention, it will be with an entirely different group. Ozzie seems to have very little patience for young players that don't come up and contribute right away. However, we're going to have to deal with those growing pains as we go though the rebuilding process. It might be better to bring in a manager who has a little more patience. I think he's got a lot more patience then he lets on.
  7. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jun 14, 2007 -> 12:38 PM) Well I guess if you sit in front of your computer all day long, you might as well get your exercize by jumping to conclusions. Well, that little comment will fly right over the heads of the 80% of Soxtalk posters that it's meant for.
  8. QUOTE(DonnyDevito @ Jun 13, 2007 -> 08:54 PM) who is your lead off guy, smart mouth? owens...cintron is better. cintron has mucho speed. something this sox team sorely lacked early on when uribe couldn't get on base and pods + erstad hit the DL. you're a real jewel...
  9. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Jun 13, 2007 -> 08:38 PM) Oh don't EVEN bring out the bagheads... LMAO! Southsider? Earth to southsider...
  10. QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Jun 13, 2007 -> 08:30 PM) I challenge any of you to come up with a lineup that can score 5+ runs consistently consisting of the players we have right now. Over what, a week? QUOTE(TheBigHurt @ Jun 13, 2007 -> 08:43 PM) I've finally accepted the fact that this team is horrible. It's like they CAN'T win. If they don't take at LEAST 2 from the freakin' PIRATES, I'd actually say we are bound for last place, and if THAT happens, yeesh... KC will have a better record then this CURRENT Sox team... (meaning, no changes).
  11. QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Jun 13, 2007 -> 02:37 PM) Yet again, we see a good idea executed poorly by government. Just not ours this time. But because its a good idea, I hope we don't simply abandon it because its been poorly implemented in some cases. I think that is exactly what some politicians want - take an idea they disagree with, move it forward but into a hornet's nest, then point to the failure and say "I told you so - this idea sucks!" Pisses me off. Now you know my filibuster secret! Damn! What do I do?
  12. Actually, this immagration thing has me really PO'd at W. He's got to stop looking around for "legacy building" things... and that's exactly what he's doing by talking about all this junk that will not work. Anytime Ted Kennedy agrees with George W. Bush, something's woefully wrong with the stance W's taken. Period.
  13. All I know is, all of these things... is directly the fault of George W. Bush and his neo-con adminstration's policies. There's a lot of little things simmering, that's for sure.
  14. QUOTE(thedoctor @ Jun 12, 2007 -> 05:01 PM) the loss to the twins where we came back to take the lead against santana on memorial day. when we took the lead i really felt it had the potential to catapult this team into better things, because generally when we are trailing against santana, we lose. to end up losing that game in the fashion that it ended was demoralizing and set the tone for what we've seen since. I think that was a big point in the start of the real downslide.
  15. QUOTE(fathom @ Jun 12, 2007 -> 11:08 PM) He'll be fine in CF, but we better improve the talent in LF and at SS if we want to have any prayer. RF and 2B are likely to be holes as well, and 3B is no sure thing. What I'm basically saying is this team has a s***load of holes next year. And this year.

    BBQ Ribs

QUOTE(Kid Gleason @ Jun 12, 2007 -> 05:48 PM) The greatest evil to the food world are the places that do "Pizza and Ribs". Those people just have no clue at all, and sadly they seem to sell the most. We had a great BBQ joint by us, and they opened by a pizza joint. Well, the pizza joint decided to do battle, so they started offering ribs at $2 less. They successfully drove the rib joint out of business by offering crappy over-cooked tough Pizza Ribs. That there is a crying shame.
  17. Pods and Erstad (and I like Erstad) aren't going to do s*** for this team. I'm as optimistic as they come about the Sox, and it's time to move on toward the future, because there sure as hell is no present.
  18. This is just really sad. I know they (supposedly) don't do this now, but the damage was done in the 40's and 50's... and it's just deplorable to not think forward as to what this can do to our environment.
  19. QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Jun 12, 2007 -> 06:40 PM) Some candidates are better than others at putting together solid proposals. Others avoid it intentionally. But you are correct that most of the significant candidates have avoided taking very many material positions. They will continue to do that, in both parties, until approaching national election time. They like adjectives better than nouns right now. I've said this repeatedly... I think all of the candidates that have officially announced suck giant canal water. And NSS, you're right, none of them have a plan in their minds right now, except how to stay "popular" 18 months from a general election. (it's sick, actually). The only candidates we know the truth about is John Edwards, Rudy Guiliani, and Hillary Clinton. They all will be wishy washy crap candidates and blow where the poll numbers tell them to blow. McCain is washed up, Romney says a lot of general BS and changes positions to cater to the hard right, Obama is "fresh" (please), and the rest of the candidates don't matter right now.
  20. QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Jun 12, 2007 -> 01:56 PM) I could only imagine what comments we would get by some people here if it were Hillary or Obama who did this instead of the commander guy. Well, I for one, don't really care. This is filed right there in the micro-give-a-s***s pile. Next.
  21. BUT BUT BUT BUT BUT!!! IT'S DIFFERENT! Once a hypocritical d'bag, always a hypocritical d'bag.

    BBQ Ribs

Ya'll ain't got nothin' on some ribs (or rubs) down here.
  23. QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Jun 12, 2007 -> 03:09 AM) Just to remind everyone of our position in the standings, we're currently 9 games out of the division lead and 8 out of the wild card lead with eight teams to jump. Our streak of avoiding Top 10 selections in the draft is looking to be in jeopardy. And we'll still get the s***iest top 10 pick in the history of baseball.
  24. Nice hook, Bobby! That's what I'm talking about. Congrats to MB for win # 100.
