I don't like the guy. At all. And yes, it's because he got caught and is 100% KNOWN to have cheated. Yea, they all might do it, to some extent, but he actually got caught doing s***... so I don't like him. That's my opinion, based on the facts as I know them. But, he won today. Fine. Enjoy your day. But I hope he's not around long term. That's it.

QUOTE(Rex Kickass @ Jun 10, 2006 -> 07:09 PM) Here's my question: how is us talking about it all the time, thousands of miles away, going to bring their lives back to normal? It's something that should have never been talked about in the first place, which is just about everyone's point. It was a bulls*** case, from the beginning, and it should have never gone past that night. But, you had a D/A, looking for political and racial motivation, who APPEARS (I'll just put it nicely for now) to have used this to get attention for a re-election campaign.

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jun 10, 2006 -> 07:59 PM) In a fight against things like Al Qaeda, violence can't just be a blunt instrument, it has to be a scalpel. If you kill 10 innocents in a bombing to get 1 guy, you can create 100 terrorists, or more. If you torture 1 terrorist, you can create 10 more. The only way we're going to ever actually "Win" this fight is going to be through finding a way to balance those 2 parts. Killing a guy like Zarqawi with minimal collateral damage? Good move. Rounding up 1000 Sunnis and holding them without charges? Bad move. Bombing that kills a terrorist but also kills 10 civilians? The terrorist better be Bin Laden. Ok, so, Einstien of foreign policy, what would you do? "Negotiate"? IT DOESN'T WORK. To me, the weenie asses in this country want the war to be easy, "peaceful"... (love that oxymoron), and let them deal with the aftermath. "We didn't want this war"... too f***ing bad. They brought it to us. How convenient it is to forget that. "Iraq wasn't part of 9/11"... NO!! It wasn't. But the IDEOLOGY was. And that ideology needs to be eradicated. Period. And it will last a generation, at least.

QUOTE(LowerCaseRepublican @ Jun 10, 2006 -> 05:57 PM) Only by massive eradication and use of an incredible amount of violence can we show the terrorists that massive eradication and using incredible amounts of violence is wrong. http://www.michaeljournal.org/images/iraq2.jpg -- I won't even hotlink the photo here because it is graphic. Click at your own risk. We sure changed that savage's mind, right? Come on LCR. Even for you, that's just bull s***.

QUOTE(Rex Kickass @ Jun 10, 2006 -> 05:07 PM) What bothers me about this case is the same thing that bothers me about the Aruba chick. It's one case that affects nobody outside of the town that it took place in and as the narrative of the story goes - "she's full of s***" so does a lot of attitudes regarding other women who are most likely legitimately reporting a rape. In the mean time people get so focused on something like this that they loose track of stories and news that has the power to affect them personally. That's very true. But what about the kids whose lives are totally screwed up for the rest of their lives, over something (that looks like that) didn't happen?

QUOTE(fathom @ Jun 10, 2006 -> 05:03 PM) We have the worst CF combo in all of baseball. Half of AAA would be an upgrade over what we have now. Really? Well, holy s***, why don't we trade half our f***ing team for some AAA reject? This s*** is getting old.

Probably half the league. I know that stimulants are pretty common in sports to keep the 'edge' - but that's stuff that's available OTC. So, meh.
-
I know your point is ... that it's not been tried. But damn... seriously, the amount of stuff that's been released, including the DNA evidence and the inconsistencies of all the people ... there's virtually no way that this gets a conviction. And rightly so.

NOT GOING TO HAPPEN. CAN WE PLEASE STFU ON AROW?

I had Stars season tickets. This year, I won't, although the ASG is going to be here. Anyway, enjoy the Sox when they come to town. It's looking like I can't go.

QUOTE(jackie hayes @ Jun 9, 2006 -> 11:39 PM) No, for 2 reasons. First, the newer statement gives no basis for her belief. The older statement included a factual statement (that they were only separated for five minutes or so) that casts doubt on the accuser's story, whatever the companion's personal opinion is. Second, because 'reasonable doubt' is the standard, any evidence that increases doubt is relevant, and certainly her statement does that. This case has so much 'reasonable doubt' you can drive a mack truck through it. And then some. But it doesn't matter, the 'rich kids got what they deserved'. Screw every one of you that think that way.

Kennedy: Repubicans rigged 2004 election

QUOTE(samclemens @ Jun 9, 2006 -> 08:29 PM) im a pretty conservative guy, and even i have to admit that completely stonewalling iran would accomplish nothing but widening the divide between us and them and making other world-leading countries hate us even more. im sick of iran; but im more sick of oil, the entire reason we have to put up with them anyway. There's a lot of reasons why they are 'talking' to Iran. -
/eats from bowl of popcorn First of all, Amen Brother, CanofCorn! Second of all, it never fails to amaze me the kind of bull s*** people on this board defend and/or decry the simple semantics of things. /carry on

QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Jun 8, 2006 -> 07:06 PM) I'm not a liberal, but rather have a case of critical-thinking conservatism (republicans against Bush). When you see the democrats taking seat after seat in upcoming elections and such because of the ineptitude of this administration, you'll know what I mean. That is ABSOLUTELY NOT why the Republicans will lose seats in November, if they do. They will lose seats because they are becoming Democrat pussies. I'll just leave it at that.

QUOTE(KipWellsFan @ Jun 8, 2006 -> 06:40 PM) Why do you hate America so much... Ugh... liberalism is such a disease. :rolly

QUOTE(SoxFanInDallas @ Jun 8, 2006 -> 01:51 PM) I will be there Wednesday evening. I may try to convince my wife to go Monday as well. But tonight, I am going to the NBA Finals! Yipee! I never got to go to a Bulls Finals, so this will have to do! That's awesome, dude. Enjoy - it will be a great time. How did you scam tickets? Actually if I pressed hard enough, I could probably get some from here at work. But, I'm really not that interested.

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jun 8, 2006 -> 03:34 PM) If needing to win a Congressional election gives Bush motivation to actually go in and capture/kill Bin Laden (and Zawahiri) and actually cut off the head of the snake, then I could care less if people claim election shenanigoats. They haven't been motivated to find those guys for 4+ years, and I'd be thrilled if losing an election gave them a reason to go and do so. Well, this is the last election that matters to the 'legacy' of GWB, so wag the dog is inevitable. /just towing the party line here

Probably. Flambe Iggy - defender of tinfoil hats everywhere!

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jun 8, 2006 -> 03:15 PM) If he winds up dead, who the Hell cares when it happens? Why, you people who will claim election shennanigans. :rolly

QUOTE(YASNY @ Jun 8, 2006 -> 02:16 PM) I say September 11, 2006. Too obvious. It needs to be closer to the election, but not close enough that they don't get the bounce in opinion polls.
-
QUOTE(YASNY @ Jun 8, 2006 -> 09:33 AM) Can't make it in this time. In fact, I'll be in town right after they leave. If you still wanted to grab a brew one of these times you're down here... that would be cool. Having said that, next weekend, we won't be in Dallas anyway. Road trip to Odessa. :puke (note, not :puke to the inlaws, :puke on the drive out there. I always thought US 30 in Indiana was bad, it don't have anything on this drive).

QUOTE(YASNY @ Jun 8, 2006 -> 09:54 AM) Colter is one of those conservatives that conservatives wish would just stfu.

This is good. Now... how much you wanna bet that Osama is killed about say, around September 30, 2006?

QUOTE(jackie hayes @ Jun 7, 2006 -> 10:11 PM) I've underestimated how far gone the Republican party is. First the gas 'credit', now this. When Rush Limbaugh protests being treated like a whore by the GOP, now that's something. Gay marriage, well, at least I can understand it as an issue. Flag burning is pure demagoguery. It's a little sad to me that that will probably garner more support. (Just a hunch, feel free to correct me if that's wrong.) Exactly. And to be honest, on this one, he's 100% right. The Republican party is NOT the party of conservatives. Screw off, to those that think you are.

That's kinda what I was thinking. Sign Flaxx up.
