  1. QUOTE(zenryan @ Jun 4, 2006 -> 07:57 PM) does MB only gives up runs when there are 2 outs in an inning. 6 runs with 2 outs is horrid. lack on concentration You're right about that. He doesn't pitch well over errors and such early in the inning either.
  2. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jun 4, 2006 -> 07:56 PM) You know, I'm not sure how much I agree with that. I know what you're talking about...how they played in August/early September when Cleveland was pushing them. But there sure seemed to be plenty of pressure on the team in that last week when they won 8 in a row, or in the playoffs, or in some of those contests early in the season when we first started playing the Twins, and so on. I don't know if playing "Tight" is the problem. Personally, I think it's when they stop focusing that becomes a problem. Like in August last year, when they started complaining about attendance again, or Mark started seeing lights, or Iguchi started complaining about having to sit down so often, and so on. It just seems to me like their heads just weren't in the game then, and they don't look like it now. When they start pressing, is what I'm getting at. Pressing can make them lose focus, no? That's what it seems to me to be. Then again, I don't watch game in and game out like ya'll do. So take my remarks FWIW.
  3. QUOTE(fathom @ Jun 4, 2006 -> 07:53 PM) So, why can't we score after the 4th inning in games? This is meant as a serious question, not rhetorical. I think it's because they are pressing. Ever since the 11-0 game, they just can't get it done late.
  4. QUOTE(JimH @ Jun 4, 2006 -> 07:50 PM) Dj makes another great point, the issue right now is guys are definitely capable of doing better, but they're not. Sounds simple but it's true. Witness that inning, bad at bats. Last year, we played our worst when we were "tight"... it seems to me like the guys who are really struggling right now are the ones who are trying the hardest and are "tight"... they need to try to relax and just play ball. Easier said then done, I know. But, when this team relaxes and just goes out and does their thing, they are much more dangerous.
  5. I'll start the stupid ass thread. MB IS NOT AN ACE. /promptly locks thread. Let's see if people can get the hint.
  6. QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Jun 4, 2006 -> 06:08 PM) Garland is improving, Bmac has shown me nothing thus far. Where is the crack pipe? I need some of that stuff so I can see things your way. First off, B-Mac's role should NOT be a reliever, nor should it be a spot start guy. He's come all the way through as a starter. His future is a starter, knowing that he will get the ball every five days. His ass was in the bullpen not being used "just in case they needed him for a spot start"... and of course he's going to not have the control he should when all of a sudden they reverse course on him and start putting him back into relief situations. This is the team's fault, not McCarthy's. They are misusing him BIG-TIME. Garland is improving, but he won't be able to touch McCarthy long-term.
  7. Yes, because it only started that the top 8 in each conference came out in 1994, IIRC.
  8. QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Jun 4, 2006 -> 06:24 PM) Wade & Howard offset? Did you just equate Howard to Wade?? For what they bring to this particular series, yes, I did. As a player, no, D-Wade is much better. Another thing that I think makes Dallas have a good chance is because they are really good at setting the tempo. For instance, they needed to speed up San Antonio, and they needed to slow down Phoenix. I think that they step up the tempo in this series and Miami won't be able to keep up over the series, which will wear them down.
  9. The bullpen will be addressed. I'm sure of it.
  10. George W. Bush? LMFAO! I'm sorry, I had to say it.
  11. Balta and the "Conservative Wing" of soxtalk agreeing. You're killing me.
  12. It will be an interesting finals - Dallas can't stop Shaq, Miami can't stop Dirk. I think Josh Howard and D-Wade will offset, and then that leaves it to the other role players - which I think Dallas is just a little deeper, and has home court. Dallas in 7.
  13. Dallas killed them in the second half tonight, again. I really thought they were in trouble when PHX went up 77-70 in game 5. Dirk was a man out there... I didn't think he had it in him... but he did.
  14. Wow. How about that? Dallas in the NBA finals. Next up - to see if I can scam some tickets.
  15. I just posted this in the game thread. Indeed. Good call.
  16. The most impressive thing about this inning is no long ball, and they are just hitting the ball - in other words, going with what is given to them. Nice hitting, nice hustle, nice inning.
  17. This is pretty funny.
  18. Yea, no kidding. SOX is a big f'in joke, just like our Congress.
  19. Udderly shocked. SHOCKED, I say, that someone ELSE figured it out!
  20. QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Jun 2, 2006 -> 03:29 AM) Thank you for the jinx. I know you aren't mad either. Boy, no kidding. I turned it off at the 77-70 point, because it was stupid at that point. Then Dirk went all nuts on them. The local sportscasters are all gaa-gaa over that performance.
  21. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Jun 1, 2006 -> 09:37 PM) Damn diet wont let me have them anymore. Bastards. So? GO GET ME MY GYRO! Off to home. It's been unreal.
  22. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Jun 1, 2006 -> 09:35 PM) I had jury duty........ Just in case you wanted someone to judge. Go get my gyro, b****.
  23. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Jun 1, 2006 -> 08:57 PM) Oh Jesus. Come on man, the fact that the last sentence says he throws well should pretty much have discouraged you from posting that crap as gospel. Amen. So... Mariotti is an expert, too, because he writes? :rolly
