Permanent Bases - and Long Term Iraq Plans
QUOTE(YASNY @ May 25, 2006 -> 04:08 PM) But it's not just Bush. It's ALL of them. They're all part of it. They're all in on it. They grandstand and throw accusations at each for the sake of distracting the public from what is really going on. Take your blinders off. Stop focusing on Bush and look at the big picture. QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ May 25, 2006 -> 04:51 PM) The conversation is heading into new directions probably worthy of more than the catch-all Dem thread. But I think I am looking at the big picture, which is basically that the actions of this heavily NeoCon policy-influenced administration have caused us as a country to pretty much screw the pooch as far as our world position/power/alliances/economy for decades to come. I agree, yet disagree. Perhaps we should split this out, because there's a good conversation that can be had on this. I was thinking last night in my Org. Development class - our topic was "group-think" for the first part of class and the second part was about international business and culture. I have some interesting thoughts I'd like to share on this to see what you all think - some are political related and some aren't. I'd actually like to write an article on this because I think what I'm thinking about has to be a pretty interesting thread of thought on the successes and failures of the administration and the hierarchial structure of Iraq.

I haven't been able to get into the Sopranos, but I don't get HBO either.

LOST! finale SPOILERS ARE INCLUDED, BE WARNED!
I'll add them to my summer viewings. Season one, only, though. Until Season Two comes out. 24 and House are the other two shows I really like on TV these days. Never got into LOST, well, as of yet, anyway.

Enron verdict coming in.
QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ May 25, 2006 -> 04:08 PM) No, but a small measure of justice that has been a long time coming. It's all Bush's fault. (I really am just kidding, Flaxx. I agree with you, these guys need to go pound Bubba for a while).

Duh. No shock there.

So... is it worth it to go rent these? I have (finally) started catching up on 24. I love that show, too.

American Idol Predictions
If they poplify him, he won't sell. They have to make something that's in his wheelhouse, similiar to what they did with Carrie Underwood. Actually her stuff is not that bad, either. Now, I wouldn't buy it, but it's pretty decent.

It's been fun to be a part of this thing and seeing it grow. I do agree that the sky's the limit. We just want to keep on keepin' on here.

Soxtalk Question
Ah, but it goes down for the greater good, man. Listen... I want to throw this out there. We're not going to be a live feed or anything like whitesox.com is... but we want this to be where you get all your Sox info. Maybe not stats, etc. but just the news and talk of all things Sox. I think we're well on the way - from pre-series notes, to daily banners, to of course all of your discussion... keep giving us ideas, folks. It's your site. Kap

Soxtalk Question
QUOTE(Heads22 @ May 24, 2006 -> 06:33 PM) The new upgrade seems to allow it to work. Now, hopefully after our last upgrade which should be soon, the search might work. Sooner then you even thought, eh?
-
That Short Outage and Error
Yea, that outage - I got the email 15 minutes before it was to happen, and wasn't here to get it. Oops. But yes, indeed, the last of the upgrade is complete. We will do some behind the scenes stuff and should have searches, etc back and running by next week sometime.

Soxtalk Question
I think if we keep it fresh, more people would use the front page. Let us know what things you all would like to see.

Sqwert, PM me. I can post it on the main site if you want.

Garland
Garland will come around. JimH is right on, IMO, in that he needs to get that slider going and pitch inside. It's amazing what an off-balanced hitter will look like and then Garland will start showing his 2005 form.

Thornton
QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ May 23, 2006 -> 05:30 PM) He's still going to get more money and time than he is worth. I have a feeling the next team that signs him will get him to change somethings and all of the sudden he becomes a productive starting pitcher... that is as long as he leaves Chicago. If he went somewhere like Texas with a guy like Orel Hershizer to work with him, we could see Kerry realize his potential... finally. Except Hershiser isn't here anymore.

QUOTE(Rex Kickass @ May 22, 2006 -> 07:05 PM) That's really not true. Although government tends to be a magnet for corruption (at least partially because of the power and money available in public service), I'd venture to say that most lawmakers are not intentionally corrupt. However, the fish rots from the head down and too often, the most powerful ARE the most corrupt. I hate to say it, but that corruption is often times how they get to be in the power positions they are in.

I'm so bummed about our entire gov't right now. Party doesn't matter. They all are just bureaucrats.
