Well, not to take anything away from the Katrina folks, but the current computer models have what will be a Category 3 or 4 storm hitting Galveston on Friday night. Katrina is a cakewalk when it comes to OIL INDUSTRY if it hits there. There's twice as many refineries and oil facilities in that area. And, by the way, they are saying that if Rita holds the current path, Dallas/Fort Worth will experience sustained Tropical Storm winds and gusts to hurricane strength because it's supposed to speed up as it gets closer to land here. It's early, but here we go again. Better go get the supplies now.

QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ Sep 18, 2005 -> 03:34 PM) The albatross...it flies. EDIT: Why was this poster banned? Did he violate board rules? In fact, the administrative team always preaches fans of other teams are welcome. It's not like the guy was wrong. Why ask why?

QUOTE(bighurt2719 @ Sep 19, 2005 -> 12:44 PM) i dont see us getting rid of crede. you can rant and rave all you want about it, but i dont think hes going anywhere. i very well could be wrong, however. but look at it from texas' perspective- why would they get rid of blalock? trade him for crede? theres no way that is happening. Well, if we trade Texas, it would be for a pitcher, a solid one. JC's value is pretty high right now. They need to move a piece to get a good arm, and they know it.

oh, NO, we're CHOKERS. Even if we get in the playoffs, and win a series in October, we're CHOKERS. Seriously, if we get into the playoffs and win a series (or more), ZERO of the 162 games mean nothing, except that we got into the playoffs, and hopefully we have the confidence in tight ball games. Is it all roses right now? Nope. But, we need to get to October, and anything can happen.

QUOTE(Rich McKinney @ Sep 19, 2005 -> 07:58 AM) Aww...were you hurt again, Kap? The Sox drop to a 3 1/2 game lead in record time and you still think everything should be peaches and cream on here? A troll? I was a Sox fan before most of you on here were born and have always been a huge one. Perhaps you misunderstood Morrissey's point, but he, like many, was hoping that the Sox would land Griffey, so we wouldn't have to watch guys like Everett choke and to add some punch to the lifeless offense. And he took a shot at some of the pitchers (Garcia, Buehrle) in the process. Is this all too rough for you? No, I get his point loud and clear. It's interesting, however, looking at your post history. And while I'm at it, I might suggest that you stop following me around. That too rough for you?

The walks # is the one that impresses me the most.

QUOTE(Rich McKinney @ Sep 19, 2005 -> 08:03 AM) Cruddy will be gone (and Blalock plays SOLID at third, so don't give me the defense s***, people)... My god, Kap....who's Mr. Sunshine now? It's all about context. You might do well to learn about it someday.

QUOTE(Rich McKinney @ Sep 19, 2005 -> 08:22 AM) WELL SAID, SIR! Someone needs to hammer Mr. Donkey for his mean-spirited and insulting manner toward anyone who disagrees with him... Is he just wimpy? :headshake Seems like I just had to answer ANOTHER thread about this same theme. Again, I'll post it here, for PC too. You can say what you want on here as long as it is respectful. My saying the "Sox suck" right now is my opinion. My saying the "Sox suck donkey #$^$%& and they also @#%E$%^$^& and blow #$%E$%^&" will probably get you some time off. Say what you want, but be respectful. If not, you're on a short leash. We provide a place for you all to vent. But if you're going to vent, at least be tasteful about it. And trolls? No, they don't have any "rights". We run this how we see fit, I do believe we've earned that right, the last time I checked.

QUOTE(Rich McKinney @ Sep 19, 2005 -> 07:54 AM) You came off pompous and as if you're trying to restrict free speech... Guielines? There actually are guidelines on here? People swear all the time on here....If people want to vent while the team is choking, that's understandable. What guidelines were you afraid would be broken, anyway? Ahhh, my favorite euphemism on this board. "Free speech" is what we say it is, since we keep this site running for you to post on. I'm going to say this one more time, this time s-l-o-w-l-y so you get it. #1, know who the admins of the site are. #2, there are "ground rules", perhaps some of the most lenient "ground rules" of any site around, which is why you pretty much can say what you want, within reason. #3, there are posters here who have been on the side of "negativity" but they are RESPECTFUL about it, and they have gained that same respect that you seem to want, but seemingly have no idea how to do it. The guidelines on my original post on this thread is the one "policy" that we're pretty strict in enforcing - that's the "personal attack" policy. People can say what they want, but they can't attack others in doing so. Be respectful, and you'll not have any problems.

Sweeney, Marte, and Contreras for Blalock I'd do in a heartbeat. But we still will need one more starter next year (not counting El Dookie) as I will assume that BMAC will win out the #4 starter's slot. If we can find a fifth, we're sitting pretty, Cruddy will be gone (and Blalock plays SOLID at third, so don't give me the defense s***, people), and something tells me that we will still need one more big bat, and we're set.

QUOTE(JUGGERNAUT @ Sep 18, 2005 -> 04:33 PM) Whether it by GWB or any one else I would risk my life to save theirs. Considering I was once a scout lifeguard & the fact that the Lord Jesus Christ is my Shepherd I would undoubtedly be successful in my efforts. That alone would give me the biggest story of my photo-journalist life & probably exclusive access to the White House. Digital all the way. Those are the mysterious ways in which God works. This coming from the guy who calls everyone who disagrees with him a bunch of names. :rolly Although, it's much better lately, thank goodness.

QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Sep 18, 2005 -> 07:41 AM) It's within the control of the White Sox to decide whether or not this avatar is removed. I hope the administrators don't force our hand because several are upset our team is wetting itself. We'll force your hand all right. If you don't take them down, you're BANNED, if the Sox make the playoffs. Put your money where your mouth is, baby! I don't like the avatars. It's tasteless. But whatever makes you happy. If displaying that you think your team is no better then that, post your avatar happily.

QUOTE(Rich McKinney @ Sep 18, 2005 -> 12:01 AM) Ken Griffey would have helped this team: as a pitcher... Good one..I'm not a huge fan of this guy, but that was a good slap. You just look for great things to say on this board, don't you, Mr. Sunshine?

QUOTE(Rich McKinney @ Sep 18, 2005 -> 12:16 AM) Tito--grab Kap a tissue...Sox fans everywhere will be ripping this club if they blow this lead and they have every right to. This is not some fade because of a rash of injuries. It's a fade because a bunch of mentally weak veterans are choking... If they blow this ( and I don't think they will) I want all these weak veterans gone, because they will not be forgiven...All of them: Buehrle, Garcia, Everett, Konerko, Rowand and Hermanson. And, yes, even Ozzie. Grab yourself a tissue. You couldn't have found a better way to say this? You need to learn about this board before popping off smart-ass comments with references to long-time posters' names in them. Will the Sox choke? I guess that remains to be seen, but you certainly could have said this a million different ways in a million different threads. Please call this your "get to know you" post. My post is intended to make sure that people adhere to the guidelines, and it didn't reference ANYTHING about the Sox choking, so please don't reference my name next time. If you have a question or an issue, pm any of the admins/mods. Kap

QUOTE(AirScott @ Sep 16, 2005 -> 02:49 AM) hey exactly like what happened to me then. now we have something in common. next year, when I make it to the NHL, we'll have two. by they way, is there any way that last statement could be more green? I'll be your agent. -
QUOTE(winodj @ Sep 16, 2005 -> 02:59 AM) Frequent Flier miles are one of the last things that airlines will eliminate in bankruptcy. To do so would put the airline at a competitive disadvantage. Agreed. I was just pointing out the risk, that's all, even though it's minimal.

QUOTE(Buehrle>Wood @ Sep 15, 2005 -> 09:18 PM) So reccomend a 16 year old boy kill himself? Great thinking. You're one helluva person. Good gravy people, Soxy was KIDDING. Get a grip! You all are running around here like your asses are on fire. Go sit on the toilet bowl and let the fire smother itself, mmmmmkay? I'm off to the burning down city of Chicago from Dallas. Have fun.

I'm not going to lock this, but I am going to say let's just stop the sniping back and forth. It's a baseball GAME. Last time I checked, the Sox are still in the playoffs. And guess what? If they don't make it, the world will go on. Maybe.

QUOTE(Palehosefan @ Sep 15, 2005 -> 03:16 PM) I'm sorry guys, I didn't know my mood was affecting the entire board. BOOOOOOOO... That was bad.

QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Sep 15, 2005 -> 04:12 PM) Assuming we made it there. Honestly, I was going to buy playoff tickets today at noon. That plan is no longer in action. I think it'll jinx the team even more(if possible). Some people don't believe in jinxes, but after observations of things that are said on this board correlating with what goes on the field, I'm weary. Your loss. Playoff baseball, even the chance at it, is something that 22 other teams don't get.
-
IF they get rid of miles, that's about the last thing they'd do, because the "badwill" on a move like that would be astronomical. My point was it COULD happen, I've seen it in a couple of other deals. Most of the time though, they won't do that. United did keep their program. And Northwest probably will too. I'm just saying that it COULD happen. It's like a 5% chance that they get rid of it.

QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Sep 15, 2005 -> 01:41 PM) The problem is that it's not 6 months ago. I don't care what I expected in March because this division should've been put away a while ago. Is that gonna be the attitude when they blow this division or barely make the playoffs and get destroyed in the first round? Oh, well...we didn't even expect to get that far. No, the attitude should be "omg, I can't believe we fell apart that quickly. When is this team gonna stop sucking?" Why the hell are we even fans then? So we can piss all over them and talk about how we were right in worrying about them falling apart? We're fans so we can be PROUD that they're choking, all for the sake of "being right"? Wow. I understand the elephants aren't crapping rose petals at the Sox player's feet right now, but damn... let's hope they can regroup here. I'm not bailing, and yes I'll be disappointed if they lose this thing. But it certainly represents the point that we were waaaaaaaaaaaay too arrogant about two months ago, doesn't it?
