QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 24, 2010 -> 08:35 PM) In the Carter Administration in 1979, Carter was trying to promote energy efficiency after the oil crises, and as a symbol of what the everyday American could do, he had solar water heaters installed on the White House roof. The Reagan administration came in and ripped them out. Then slashed all of Carter's energy efficiency programs, killed the tax credits, and pushed hard for more oil usage. Gotcha. But Sarah needs to plant straw anyway.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 24, 2010 -> 06:19 PM) Reagan did that too? I figured Carter would have been the one bringing straw in. (Note, I'm making fun of you because I think you don't know your history) Nope, I don't. So what's the story on this one? I was making fun of straw.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 24, 2010 -> 09:30 AM) If the state of Arizona doesn't want an obvious discrimination lawsuit every time they arrest someone who is latino and isn't an illegal immigrant, then they're going to have to actually make sure that they arrest some white people just to make the numbers look better. Yes. I agree. /faints

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 24, 2010 -> 06:04 PM) President Palin will just have them torn out. And replace the grass outside with straw.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 24, 2010 -> 03:28 PM) If he had the train all to himself, yeah, I'd bet it was safer than a plane. Ok, but he doesn't, and it's impractical as hell. -
QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Apr 23, 2010 -> 08:28 AM) I support this movement. We're going to change your screen name to "Bra".

And he's pretty much afforded the same security that the President gets. For obvious reasons. -

QUOTE (knightni @ Apr 23, 2010 -> 11:06 PM) Why not? It's safer than a plane and more economic. Washington to New York shouldn't be that difficult. It's safer then a plane? Again, yea, but not really. This isn't like you flying around. It's the President and VP of the US. -
QUOTE (lostfan @ Apr 24, 2010 -> 12:28 AM) Pretty much. I mean practically speaking, who gives a f***? One more thing to add to a long list of grievances of which some are legit political issues, and most are bulls*** that nobody cares about. This would fall into the latter. Nobody, except (a a straw man, and b.) Al Queda.

QUOTE (knightni @ Apr 23, 2010 -> 08:19 PM) Biden could take the high speed Amtrak. Um, sure, but not really. -

So, bumpity bump. The right wingers are making fun of Obama and Joe taking three airplanes to NYC for earth day. Hey dumbasses, get the hell over it. They're entitled to it, and move on to issues that matter. Funny how this came up only a week or two we talked about this. This shows I'm not a hypocrite. -
QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Apr 23, 2010 -> 06:59 PM) You really think your given scenario will be the only time this is used? If you're brown, don't drive in AZ. Unless you want to be harassed. Hey look! A straw man arguement! I'm kidding. I actually agree with you all on this one that this law goes WAY too far. I agree with the principle, but totally disagree with the implementation.
-
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 23, 2010 -> 04:13 PM) I'm glad I saw the Grand Canyon when I did. Shame I didn't get to Spring Training. Really? You're too immigranty?

QUOTE (Rex Kicka** @ Apr 23, 2010 -> 01:20 PM) Or the worst case scenario is they do nothing and nobody notices and they get no press for playing the anti-free speech villains. I think its all ginned up personally. Exactly.

QUOTE (lostfan @ Apr 22, 2010 -> 10:10 PM) Jesus Christ, no it isn't. Awww, come on now. It just depends on your straw man.
-
QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Apr 22, 2010 -> 09:38 PM) stop posting. Everything's a straw man to you. Everything, that is, that you don't agree with. Whether it is or not.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 21, 2010 -> 07:49 AM) Kap just said something I agreed with. It's a miracle.

QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Apr 22, 2010 -> 04:27 PM) Probably overkill, but really, how wide-spread? Straw man This one belongs in the 60's. AIDS wasn't really an airborne concern by the late 80's. And global warming is still around. Yeah, there was legitimate reason for the first two. Also, it's still GW. It leads to CC. SARS/ bird flu was overblown in this country, I'll give you that. The whole thing is an illogical argument, anyway, but it's also stuffed with straw. And so is every liberal arguement. Every debate, on both sides, is built from a house of straw. It just depends on who you want your straw man to be.

QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 21, 2010 -> 09:18 PM) Linebrink actually looks really good out there. Shhhh.

QUOTE (DukeNukeEm @ Apr 19, 2010 -> 12:37 PM) That attitude is going to keep this conflict going on for another 60 years. Only 60?
-
QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Apr 18, 2010 -> 08:29 PM) No, the people who did really dumb things are still ultimately at fault. Those who let them do dumb things are also responsible, but aren't the primary cause. Really? If you want real regulation, follow and enforce existing law. It's a "conservative" problem, to be sure, though. Barney Frankless says hi.

QUOTE (Brian @ Apr 17, 2010 -> 04:44 PM) After seeing these new American Airlines commercials, did they put bigger seats in their planes? I'm going to AZ in Sept and may book with them if that is the case. Being 6'5 sucks when flying. How do I answer this... they changed the angles of the seats. The measurement between seats are the same but the pitch is slightly different. It gives you something like two more inches. Woot.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 18, 2010 -> 04:12 PM) Yeah, that government being nice to the banks is a huge part of the problem. One might even go so far as to call it "Conservative" government. Conveniently, it also suggests that adversarial government is a major part of the solution. You want so bad to tar and feather "conservatives" that you mock and slant every arguement against/for them, whatever the position is to support your wonderful leaders. You're seriously brainwashed if you think this is a "conservative" issue. The "solution" must be more regulation from our government, and it must be "cracking down" the weekend before more laws are to be rammed down our throat when they could have done this for 20 years at any point, under any administration.
-
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 18, 2010 -> 04:07 PM) Which, I'd argue, is what happens when you're able to write the laws. You write them so it's really hard for them to send you to jail, even if you nearly destroy the world. So aren't you essentially saying the same thing... that government is the problem? They let it happen.
