  1. QUOTE(ChWRoCk2 @ Jul 13, 2005 -> 12:53 AM) and thats why eckstein is an allstar Or 'cause he's hitting .280 and been an awesome leadoff hitter for the Cards... He's not that good defensively. Sort of Iguchi like, not that much range, but he'll make the plays that come to him and give a real good effort. Defensively like Iguchi, I should say.
  2. Fox sucks. First, that announcer, what's her name, Zelasko?, interrupts Ernie H right while he's talking, to go to that stupid f***ing throw-a-pitch-here-for-a-million-bucks thing, and then they go to commercial during the Canadian anthem. And Buck, I don't want to f***ing here Jeter's name one f***ing time...
  3. If it's possible to 'earn' a demotion, Harris did it. It's a shame, too, because he's hurting the team by playing with his head up his ass -- he's still the best defensive secondbaseman on this team. Unfortunately, hitting the ball to the right side doesn't seem like much of a priority to him.
  4. How does one do the celebrations on X-Box? I'm getting it for X-Box this year, as opposed to PS2.
  5. If Juan Uribe is equal to Omar Vizquel defensively, I need to start watching a new sport...
  6. Detroit -- LOL. Yep, I'm shaking in my boots -- I fear the rotation of Bonderman, Maroth, Robertson, and Johnson! Oh, and that bullpen! Troy Percival! Kyle Farnsworth! Oh no! When Detroit gets some pitching, let me know. Cleveland can rake. And they got some pitchers. And, Minnesota's pitching staff runs circles around Detroit's. Words to live by my friend -- DE-TROIT SUCKS, DE-TROIT SUCKS! Sorry, you could tell I miss hockey -- a lot. Gotta use the phrase somewhere, though...
  7. QUOTE(fathom @ Jul 11, 2005 -> 04:56 AM) Uribe's OPS is well below .600 against RHP this season. He's one of the main reasons we've struggled against RHP. Uribe's power numbers are WAY down this season. Even though he has a few hits this week, I still don't see massive improvements by him at the plate. Our biggest problem on offense lately is that we have too many easy outs in the lineup. Only Pods, Frank, Everett, and Dye have been swinging good (and PK as of today). Any offensive upgrade would be a major -- yes, major -- defensive downgrade. Even Omar Vizquel.
  8. Someone will grab him. .839 OPS in 2003, .771 OPS in 2004 -- can steal bases pretty well, 80% success rate over his career. Those OPS' are really good for such a good defensive CF'er, too. If the Sox weren't so stacked, I'd love to see them grab one of the two unhappy NL Central OFers, Patterson or Kearns. Not so much Patterson, moreso Kearns.
  9. Balta, he got hit with a pitch on the wrist. I don't think you can bunch that in with him being 'injury prone'. I do agree that he is injury prone, don't get me wrong -- but, I don't think it's fair to classify an incident like that as him being brittle. Going for a flyball and pulling a hammy is one thing, getting HBP and breaking a bone is another.
  10. QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Jul 11, 2005 -> 12:54 AM) Ideally we'll see him again when he pitches for an opponent (meaning we trade his sorry ass). More realistically we'll see him for the Sept call-ups. Yep -- we might see Baj and Walker up here, maybe along with Munoz and Diaz, too. Err -- maybe not all four, but we'll probably see at least two. You get up to 40 men come September, right?
  11. Second half breakdown... 13 games vs. New York + Boston 7 games vs. LA + Texas 20 games vs. Cleveland + Minny I think we have about 78 games left -- so long as my math is correct. So that's about half. Go .500 against this part of the schedule, a little better against the rest (the 38 other games), and we should be in the playoffs. .500 the rest of the way would put us at 95 wins, which, would be a success. Halfway home, fellas.
  12. Alright! Chris Young makes a nice running grab in a flyball in the gap. He's playing center today.
  13. Am I watching the right game? Did Paul Konerko just get a hit? Hoorah!
  14. QUOTE(fathom @ Jul 10, 2005 -> 07:26 PM) PK's bat speed is non-existent right now. Isn't today the day that Ozzie decides whether it's Timo/Harris who goes down? As much as I'll be dissappointed when/if Harris goes down, I'll be ten times as happy that Gload is back up. He needs to be spelling PK at least twice a week.
  15. Wow 110 MPH sinker from Haren. According to the Comcast gun.
  16. I figured that a lot of people, like me, will be flipping back and forth periodically between the Sox game and this game. I also expect that a lot of people will be watching Chris Young with a watchful eye, in all of his AB's. There's also a lot of other guys who I want to get a look at -- pitchers Thomas Diamond and Yus Petit, and a bunch of the position players -- Encarnacion, Barton, Jackson, Morales, and Young, among others.
  17. QUOTE(DukeNukeEm @ Jul 10, 2005 -> 04:05 PM) We arent gettting Dunn. That dudes untouchable. No -- he's "touchable". The organization and he haven't gotten along well, from them taking out his and Griffey's clubhouse 'massage' chairs without notice, to them releasing Danny Graves (and demoting Austin Kearns), to them taking down his jersey dedicated to Graves once he was released. That's not to say he'll be a White Sock, that's wishful thinking on my part. But I doubt he's a Red heading into 2006.
  18. Why show those stats? Most of 'em are under 50 AB's, it's a terribly small sample size. But, if it makes ya happy... And, the .186 vs lefties is in about 90 ABs.
  19. QUOTE(JDsDirtySox @ Jul 10, 2005 -> 04:19 AM) Here is some interesting info for the Trade Thread. I am watching the D'Backs/Reds Game right now, and they just showed some of the scouts in attendance talking about how the Reds (and more than likely the DBacks) will be sellers in the trade market very soon. In the group of scouts I saw White Sox Excecutive Advisor and former GM Roland Hemond. I wonder who all we are looking at on the Reds. Randa? Griffey? Harang? ...Dunn... Pwetty pwease... Aww, 3, you beat me to the punch. If we got Dunn, I think you, me, and Cheat would all dance in the streets for days. Weeks.
  20. QUOTE(3E8 @ Jul 9, 2005 -> 05:01 PM) Average at best? Age 24 - ERA+ = 115 Age 25 - ERA+ = 119 Age 26 - ERA+ = 105 Seems to me he's been nothing but above average, not to mention very young, and very cheap. f*** sending him elsewhere. I've admired him as a pitcher and watched his starts for awhile now, so I'm a little jaded on this issue. I know I'm late on this, but I've come to trust your analysis -- sign me up, if it only takes a mid-level prospect or two -- or even Harris. Three seasons with an ERA+ above average, and entering his prime? Hell yeah, I'd love it.
  21. QUOTE(knightni @ Jul 10, 2005 -> 03:37 AM) WOW. That's a nightmare trade. Dunn is as bad BA wise as Kong, plus he Ks more. I guess I'm in a small crowd of people that likes Dunn. Konerko has an .803 OPS, compared to Dunn's .932. The K's don't bother me when you walk as much as he does -- .388 OBP last year, .385 this year. He's 25 years old, and posted a 152 OPS+ last season. That's ridiculously awesome. Looks like he's on the way to doing the same this year.
  22. QUOTE(beck72 @ Jul 9, 2005 -> 07:11 PM) I just gave ESPN's career numbers for both guys vs those probably playoff teams. As far as "past his prime", Omar's doing fine this year, like last year. And should be OK for 2006 as well. Beck, I'm sorry, you compared 2005 Ozuna vs. 2004 Uribe? Not even close... a.)Ozuna isn't half the defender that Uribe is. Neither is Vizquel. Vizquel has lost a lot of range now that he's older -- he'll make the plays that come to him, that's about it. For a team that relies on GB outs as much as the Sox do, you need a vacuum up the middle. We'd see a lot more balls grounded back up the middle for basehits if Omar was there rather than Uribe. And, Ozuna -- well, he's a nice Tony G type of player off the bench, but again -- not nearly as good defensively as Uribe. b.)Ozuna has a line of .302/.348/.314. One x-tra basehit. He doesn't seem to walk a whole lot, so if those GBs that he has placed so well in the first half of the season start finding their way to defenders, he's going to be in a lot of trouble. Uribe -- in a full season -- slugged almost .200 points above Ozuna. The comparison is terrible, IMO. And, I hope this doesn't come off as me not liking Ozuna -- 'cause that's not true, he's been great, playing an average 3B/SS/2B/1B/LF/RF is awesome. But he's nowhere near as good as Uribe. And Vizquel is signed for a third year. He's doing better than last year in AVG/OBP/SLG, and a lot better than his career averages. Uribe, OTOH, is doing worse in those three categories, yet is only .008 points behind in SLG% after an awful first half. I expect regression to their career averages (or, last years averages) for both players.
  23. I'd really like to be a fly on the wall in a meeting-room with KW and Ozzie, just to hear what they think about Konerko. He's sure become one streaky hitter, huh? I'd love to wake up on July 31st and see that the following trade went through: Sox send Konerko to Mets, Sweeney and Tracey to Reds, get Dunn from Reds. (Humber to Reds). Ok, I'm dreaming. Still gonna be an interesting couple of weeks ahead.
  24. QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Jul 9, 2005 -> 08:41 PM) Dude, I was joking. Sorry, I should have put it in green since it wasn't obviouis enough for you. :headshake Oh, funny. I'm the slow person. I guess that's pretty "obviouis", huh?
  25. Ahh, the Gio we've all come to know and love. 5 IP, 2 H, 1 R (ER), 9 K's, 3 BBs. The walk total is a little high, but 9 K's. Wow. Kinston, is that the Indians affiliate?
