  1. Umm, Ross needs to get up here ASAP. Like, in five-ten days. I'm sorry, but Konerko is brutal right now. He needs an extended break, say two or three days off.
  2. Is there a reason Gload is in the minors? He certainly couldn't do worse than what Konerko/Dye are doing right now. In fact, he'd be a nice guy to do what Juan Uribe did early on last season, give guys breaks at SS/2B/3B -- yet, with Ross, RF and 1B. I don't know what Ross did to piss in Ozzie's cheerios, but...
  3. I didn't realize that the draft was June 7th. Isn't it usually June 20th or past then? My hope of them taking a Boras client, I'm starting to realize, probably isn't going to happen. I'm dissappointed about that, but oh well, life goes on. And, one more thing. What about Wade Townsend? He was part of that highly touted Rice trio, correct? He's not a Boras client, is he? And, is he good enough to take at #15, considering he went top ten last year? (Edited, again): I just looked on thebaseballcube, and it looks like Townsend was right up there with Humber and Niemann. He averaged over 11 K's per nine, which was more than the other two (IIRC), and he had an ERA of 1.80 which was better than both of them. His walks were up a little more than the other two's, but not by a whole lot. Yuck -- tell me that Boras is his agent...?
  4. QUOTE(jasonxctf @ May 24, 2005 -> 09:54 PM) are we talking about eric chavez and his .213 batting average? How is he an upgrade over the cheaper, better hitting, better fielding Joe Crede? :banghead :banghead :banghead And I guess I should clarify that I'm not for this trade...
  5. QUOTE(DukeNukeEm @ May 24, 2005 -> 09:38 PM) NO. Keep BMac.. we can move Crede for Polanco. STAY AWAY FROM CHAVEZ AND THAT CONTRACT. I think you underestimate just how good Chavez is...
  6. QUOTE(chi-guy2 @ May 24, 2005 -> 09:23 PM) dunn isnt that good, but id rather have him than dye Dunn is a top ten OF'er/1Bman. Either category.
  7. QUOTE(poorme @ May 24, 2005 -> 04:32 PM) i see him as sort of a nick johnson type. I'd be pretty happy if he turned into a Nick Johnson type. Obviously, not the injuries part of him, but the other aspects (namely good strike-zone judgement, preferably without the K's).
  8. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ May 24, 2005 -> 04:05 AM) I haven't been able to see this game today, and it looks like I should be thankful. Another Cy Young performance from a s*** bag AAA pitcher and Garland is going to get an undeserved loss. Crede and Uribe still sucking. Konerko and Dye back to the s***s. Am I right with this stuff? He's not a "s***bag AAA pitcher". He's good, and has pitched like his minor league stats show. Our offense hasn't looked good, but don't think that Santana is some bum just because he got rocked in one start...
  9. QUOTE(qwerty @ May 24, 2005 -> 03:57 AM) Santana is not s***ty at all. If you go by his one major league start i guess you could say that but it would be foolish. Yeah, really. I think he put up some really stellar numbers in the minors, did he not?
  10. QUOTE(fathom @ May 24, 2005 -> 03:32 AM) Hey Ozzie......Everett should not be batting 3rd in this lineup. He's absolutely awful batting lefty this season. Who should, when Rowand is out? Not Konerko. Dye, maybe. Pierzynski? Not Timo/Crede/Uribe.
  11. QUOTE(whitesoxin' @ May 24, 2005 -> 03:30 AM) can someone please give a quick summary? I just got home from work. Thanks in advance. Jon gave up a two out double to Adam Kennedy, two scored. On a play before that, Orlando Cabrera singled, and when McPherson tried getting into third, Perez threw one right on the money, but Crede dropped it. Next pitch, Kennedy got the double that scored two. Sox can't hit, other than Iguchi. Garland looking good, though. Unfortunate that it doesn't look like the offense will score for him.
  12. Double play, strike him out, throw him out. Two nice tosses by AJ tonight.
  13. QUOTE(shagar69 @ May 24, 2005 -> 03:16 AM) I am so f***ing tired of Crede. When the f*** is fields gonna be ready. If its not by next season, then we gotta trade for a 3b, this inconsistency bulls*** is getting old. Fields ain't close. It's not just you, but people gotta stop talking about Fields. He's not doing well at Birmingham, and didn't light up high-A ball to the point where you're thinking the fast road to the majors. He's got a waaaaaaaaaays to go.
  14. QUOTE(qwerty @ May 24, 2005 -> 03:14 AM) Joe randa? I think so. I'd prefer the early offseason love-child around here, Placido Polanco.
  15. QUOTE(fathom @ May 24, 2005 -> 03:12 AM) This is the worst Crede has looked in his Sox career. You can be sure that is the number one spot where Kenny is looking to upgrade...
  16. QUOTE(3E8 @ May 24, 2005 -> 02:44 AM) Why's everyone pissed at Timo when he threw a strike to Crede for what should've been the third out of the inning? Bad play by Crede. Great throw by Timo. Timo still sucks.
  17. QUOTE(kapkomet @ May 23, 2005 -> 07:02 PM) I do know that Texas had a hard on for Garland this past offseason, and Orel Hershiser was one of the biggest ones on trying to get him down here. As it turns out, he was right - in that Garland was due. Hershiser has done more with nothing (talent-wise) then anyone in baseball, IMO. After the season, they can have Contreras for Adrian Gonzalez and cash.
  18. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ May 23, 2005 -> 10:11 PM) Well one thing Lucy has is a s***load more tools than Suzuki ever will. Lucy flat out has a catchers build and is a freakish athlete behind the plate as opposed to most catchers. The problem was he was raw and with that its going to take him some while to pan things out and of course there is a higher bust likelihood. However, Lucy has the ability to be a very good catcher, both behind the plate and at the plate. We'll just have to see. I was also down on the move but the more I read and heard about Lucy the more I understood in a sense. It was one of those high risk, high reward, high bust type of scenarios and I think since the Sox had so many picks they figured they could take that chance rather than play it safe. We'll see how it pans out, but I'm just trying to give the Sox perspective on this. And its easy to 2nd guess after the fact, but I know there were a lot of people who didn't think Suzuki had the tools and sometimes tools get looked at a little too much, just like velocity does. I guess that's the thing, depending on the person. Personally, I'd prefer the safer pick, the guy that might not be the superstar, but the consistent .270/.360 guy over the guy that might be a superstar, yet also (if he doesn't "catch on") has a huge chance of being a bust. I guess that's the GM/scouting director's job, mixing and matching as far as those "boom or bust" picks and the "safe" picks. Are you guys still looking at getting that Q & A with Wilder, that Jim had mentioned?
  19. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ May 23, 2005 -> 09:59 PM) Suzuki has flat raked down in the minors. I'd have to look at the draft and I know he was taken in the 2nd round by the A's, but IIRC Suzuki was on the board when the Sox drafted Lucy. I flat love Suzuki and think he was a steal. He's better than Landon Powell in my book. The guy is a natural born leader and can flat rake. He's hitting .281 with a .380 OBP, 4 HR and 20 RBI down in Stockholm (A Ball) I don't have a clue what Powell is doing. For whatever reason he's not in the MILB database so I don't know if he was injured or if he's in extended spring training and is going to play short season again. Edit: Suzuki was selected 67th overall while Lucy was selected 59th overall. That's really dissappointing. I'm sorry, but that's a poor choice (Lucy over Suzuki). If he's the leader you say he is, that makes it ten times worse, because aren't the Sox one of those teams that really looks for good character? Yuck... a guy shouldn't go second round just because he can play good defense, and that seems like the only thing Lucy has done well in his short time in the minors...
  20. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ May 23, 2005 -> 09:45 PM) Its too bad Suzuki wasn't in this years draft cause he's a hell of a lot better than Clement in my book (I'm still bummed the Sox passed up on Kurt). He was there when the Sox grabbed Lucy, right? My brother follows the draft closer than I do, and I know he wasn't very happy when the Sox passed on him. Then again, when Oakland grabbed him, he was immediately very pleased. Ack, maybe Suzuki wasn't there when they picked Lucy, I don't remember. Either way, I know he really wanted the Sox to grab Kurt... Looks like he's right up Beane's alley, a good OBP guy. EDIT: And isn't Oakland now loaded with minor league catchers? Landon Powell, Daric Barton, and Suzuki? They're going to have to move at least one of 'em, don't ya think?
  21. BHam, how has Sweeney looked? I'm a little concerned that he's had something like 45 hits, and less than ten have been for x-tra base hits? How does he look at the plate?
  22. Aww, Hansen is a Boras client too? I really hope the Sox aren't as anti-Boras as it seems, because if they are, they're really limiting their options when it comes to the draft. Signability shouldn't be an issue this year. Our second pick comes when, in the fourth round? I really hope that they don't pass up a superior talent just so they can get the other guy signed. If they end up taking a player that they feel is better than the Boras client, than so beit. But don't bulls*** your fans by taking an inferior player because of the agent...
