  1. I agree with everything said. Garland is definitely the number 3 right now until Loaiza proves differently. In fact, Garland's 4.41 ERA is inflated due to the fact that he was 'left out to dry' in some of those starts (i.e. Philly start, 10 ERs IIRC). We all know this, it's all mental with Jon. BTW - I've been meaning to ask this. Is anyone else noticing that Jon is beginning to show a lot more confidence in his curveball than any time before? He's starting to throw that pitch for strikes on both halves of the plate. Very, very good, especially with a sinker/two-seamer like his.
  2. And had we not made the trade we'd be worrying about aquiring another top starter. Life goes on without Olivo and Reed.
  3. Wow - Nelson for Chattanooga seems like he's going to be one hell of a pitcher. IIRC Chattanooga is of the Atlanta system or am I wrong?

    Anchorman

I saw it. Like I said in the Palehose forum, Ferrell is a friggin' riot. Ferrell himself is worth seeing the movie alone.
  5. Ahh - can we all take a deep breath now from last week? It was panic mode last week, but now that we're winning - as they say, winning cures everything. Great outing from Garland. I really like it when Sandy catches Garland - that battery seems to work very well together. Welcome back Maggs! Way to get back into the groove. EL f***ING CABALLO! YESS! Oh, and off topic - I saw Anchorman tonight, it's a pretty damn funny movie. The movie itself (plot) isn't that great, but Ferrell is such a funny guy, he is worth seeing. Funny movie. Go get 'em tomorrow, Mark!
  6. When the Bears picked Peanut, I was thinking about him for about the rest of the day. It was just out of nowhere, no one knew who this kid was; hell, some said he'd last till round three. But then I was thinking that the Bears probably knew something that I/the rest of the draft 'experts' don't. He's tall, physical, fast, and quick. Peanut is going to be a hell of a corner. (And it makes things better that he's a Sox fan.)
  7. IIRC he might have bone chips within his foot. Best of luck, JoeBo!
  8. In past years yes, but not this year. 3.14 ERA in 43 IP with a 1.14 WHIP. I'd take that over a lot of guys in our bullpen...
  9. Personally, if Pitt would take on a bunch of the salary, I'd go for Kendall. Also see if you could land Meadows too, to take the role of Mike Jackson.
  10. Gio shouldn't be traded under any circumstances. I don't know the system that well, but would it be a fair comment to say that Gio has the 'best' stuff in the system? Not to mention his pinpoint control at such a young age, awesome combo.
  11. Excellent. I think I'm going to use my 'Buy One, Get One Free' Upper Deck tickets and go. (I should be able to drive there on my own, but I took DE at my high school and it's gay; they said I won't be able to get my license for two more weeks because they haven't sent in my name through the computer to the DMV. So - :fyou Oak Forest High!) Ahh, good ole' Soxtalk. Thanks for letting me get my frustrations out!
  12. I know the 'age' factor is running out on Jon, but he's still only 24. IMHO, right around the ages 24-26, pitchers really start to get it. Hopefully since Jon has been in the majors for a while, he can get it a bit sooner. IMO, Jon will finish the season with an ERA below 4.20 (knock on wood).
  13. Aboz, you say Borchard is a better left-handed hitter, but is he drastically worse hitting from the right side (like Jose Valentin last year vs. righties), or just a little bit worse? And I for one would be really excited to see Joe Bo given a shot at the big leagues again. Then everyone would stop staring at the back of my jersey saying 'Who's Borchard?'.
  14. Agreed. In fact, If we were to go into a playoff series tomorrow, Garland would pitch in game 3, without a doubt. Loaiza has pitched himself out of the top three. Garland - go get 'em tomorrow buddy!
  15. We should go back in the game thread and look at all the people giving up on it. I even said this team looked pathetic, but then our bats got going!
  16. HE f***ING GONE! RIGHT HERE, fellas! RIGHT HERE!
  17. I'll bash a guy when he sucks, but I'll also give credit where credit is due. Great outing today, MJ! Retired Vlad and Guillen! Nice job!
  18. I'll keep saying it because it seems to be working: Why not pinch it Maggs?
  19. And I say again; why not pinch hit Maggs?
  20. Wow - Harris is catching major bad luck. That should have been a triple, what a play by Erstad.
  21. The bandwagon has made its stop, you can jump off any time you want to. But don't get on again once it starts rollin again... :headshake (What happened to the rolls eye smiley?)
  22. 8-5. Down three yet again. Thanks a lot Esteban! Great pitched game you assf***.
