  1. The Score670 just broke in and said that the deal is very, very close to being finalized. Nothing about additional pitchers; but he really didn't say that pitchers wouldn't be coming to the Southside, so, stay tuned I guess...
  2. Yeah - MinnySoxFan and Beastly - Biddle sucks. He has cool sideburns; unfortunately looking 'cool' doesn't equate to pitching 'well'...
  3. One of the pitchers that may be coming back to the Sox are Luis Ayala or TJ Tucker. Both have sub-4 ERAs, and Ayala is under 3. I don't have the ground-ball/fly-ball stats, but isn't Montreal more of a pitchers park? I could be wrong; I mean, it is a dome, but I'm not very smart with the dome/outdoor park dynamics...
  4. Yeah - he can't pitch worth a damn, but let's get him back because he has cool sideburns... rolleyeyes.gif I'm not very familiar with the Expo bullpen. Anyone of interest there?
  5. Alright - this has been on my chest for a while, so I'm just gonna throw it out there. If you like it, you can just take it and run with it, and if you don't, just throw it right back (Anchorman ). Anyways - I wanted to talk about pitch counts. Usually, the range from pitch counts goes from 100-125, right in that area. Now - is the problem with pitchers, is that they just plain shouldn't be pitching into the 140s, or is the problem that they aren't trained/prepared to do it? I ask this because I see Jason Schmidt, who is constantly going into the 140s, 130s, and everyone says that it will hurt him, yet I see no signs of it. He's so friggin' amazing, yet I think that has to do with how his managers have handled him (Baker/Alou). So I ask - should pitchers be throwing into pitch counts that late, in hopes of building up arm strength? Or is it just plain wrong? IMO, I think pitchers are meant to only go so long - but if you have a guy like Jason Schmidt, an absolute horse like him, then you use him to his capabilities. I just wanted to get your guys' thoughts on it.
  6. So what? What did you expect, KC to go in there to take the first three? Hell, I'm happy that KC took one - they took the first two. Nice job, KC! However, when you play us, just - you know, lay down. No one wants those cheating (AC in the dome ) bastards in Minny to win.
  7. And Mr. Pessimist himself, ladies and gentlemen, Ozzie! Where were you in April and May? Uribe>Miles. Better D, more versitaile, younger, and eventually a better stick. I love how you just see the opportunity for a negative post, and just grasp it. It brings a much needed laugh to my day.
  8. Back from Eastern (even though I brought my PS2 there ), and even though a lot of you guys are dissappointed in the game, it's still fine IMO. I know that it's hard to pass, and there's a lot of dropped passes, but I don't like a game where I get every break. I get pissed when that happens too, but if a game is too easy, I get sick of it within a month or two. But - until I win a National Championship, I'll probably still play the game. My passing game is still s*** right now, but that's OK, because Noah Herron is picking it up right now. And it kind of sucked - Brett Basanez got caught copying a friend's homework, and now I had to suspend him for a game. I still won the game 14-0 (defense much too easy, I'm gonna have to make CPU Run game AI better), but - oh well. Anyways - once I get surround sound, it's gonna kick ass. Btw - after I got home from Eastern, I went to Hooters. I love Hooters...
  9. Yeah - really, look at all the harm and bad Freddy has done with this team. I mean, look at today... rolleyeyes.gif
  10. I'll go with one name on the list, and one not on there. The first is Jay Marriotti - blah, I hate that asswipe. And the one not on the list, AJ Pierzienski (sp?). He's the guy you love to have on your team, yet if he's not on your team, you love to hate him. He always had that cocky 'We're going to beat you, and I'm going to make smerks that piss other teams' fans off.' attitude. Gahhh! :fyou
  11. I personally am waiting on the fat catcher who 'can't', Jeremy Brown. Ah, Moneyball was a good read, but man... 'All Hail Billy Beane!' :headshake
  12. IMO, rather than a half-priced Tuesday, what about making it a more family-oriented Tuesday? Something like, four tickets, parking pass, four hot dogs, four drinks, two popcorns/nachos for I dunno, 70 Bucks? I really enjoy the dollar hot-dog Thursdays, I think they should, rather than cutting the ticket price, cut the food price on certain days.
  13. Get a router, and a long male-to-male cable cord, 50 feet should be about right. I sort of have the same problem, my computer/modem is in the family room, and my PS2 is ten steps below (basement). My grandfather was able to run the cable, though, through the crawlspace in the basement to behind my TV, so it's unnoticable, very cool. Kenny - please respond if you see this, I want to make sure you got home alright before I head off to Eastern.
  14. Ehem - back to NCAA Football... (jk). Anyways, Ill have the rosters in about twenty minutes or so. If you're interested, let me know, Ill try and find a way for you to get them, or for a way for you to come to my house and get them.
  15. My run game is awesome right now - I'm pumped, I've played 15 or so exhibition games, and the NU dynasty begins tonight!
  16. You're actually going to bring up Houston's record? rolleyeyes.gif And Beltran is a selfish player? Why, and how do you know this? The Jeckle Meter is at an all time high in this thread. BTW - Jeckle - your name serves you well. You make people laugh.
  17. My Northwestern dynasty starts today. Rosters should be out very, very soon. So later today, I will be in all glory...
  18. Oh, don't lie. You were sober off your ass. Or sober on your ass, whichever it is, but you weren't drunk...
  19. I don't know the problem - maybe my eyes deceived me tonight, but I saw plenty of 89-90 from E-Lo tonight. I was actually very proud; a scoreless inning in the All-Star game, especially considering who he went up against, is a nice accomplishment. Plus - good to see him get Sosa out, that's always nice. Last year, Loaiza was constantly around 90-92. This year it's 86-88. It's not as drastic as losing 8 MPH, but it is concerning...
  20. Hmm - The rosters are coming out tomorrow, and I still haven't decided who I want to be yet. There's, of course, the beloved ( ) Northwestern Wildcats. Then there's the guys up north, NIU Huskies, and then, in honor of our first round draft pick, the Oklahoma State (nickname not coming to mind right now). I want to face some good competition, and being in the Big 12 will give me Oklahoma and Texas. But then again, the Big 10 will give me Ohio State and Michigan. As usual, I'll probably end up being Northwestern. Damn - summer is going by way too quickly. For AP History next year, I have to remember all of the presidents and their names and the dates in office by late August. It sucks...
  21. A catcher, maybe, but a leadoff hitter is one or two on our top priorities. Not to mention the defense he'll add. With the attendence increase, I think we can take on Kendall's contract - and have Pitt pay for a bit of it...
  22. I'll go with not a certain play, but rather a performance. Gotta be Jon Garland's eight inning (IIRC?) gem against Minny to complete the sweep. Santana was filthy good, yet Garland shut the door. Props to Jon.
  23. Why is Kendall not coming here....? How do you know this? Kendall would be a perfect fit for us, filling two needs; a top of the order hitter, and a very good defensive catcher. Get Pitt to take on some of the contract, and let's go for him. I think Kenny will make a move/has already made a move for Kendall. If not, as long as our catcher can hit a little over .225 or so and play solid defense, I'm happy.
  24. Well - that's fine. Pick a date (not this weekend, I'll be gone the whole weekend) and you can either stop by my 'crib', or we can just meet at a place that's more public, like a mall or such. Let me know.
