  1. Beastly - just my humble suggestion - but don't wear the whole anti-Cubs shirts to the Cell. It really feeds into the whole media stereotypical 'Sox fans only care about what the Cubs do'. Wear it on a day we play the Cubs, but other than that - how about going Pro-Sox, as opposed to anti-Cubs? Again - take it fwiw.
  2. Hey buddy - you started the thread... Unfortunately it got shot down, and now you want to act like you didn't start it...?
  3. Oh yeah - you are correct, it is Schoeney tomorrow. My mistake!
  4. Hey - I never thought about it that way. Until October, I say: Let's Go Yank-ees! clap clap clap clap clap!
  5. I'd still like to see better stuff from Loaiza, but tonight is a start. As for our bullpen punch, Politte, to Marte, to SHINGO! Seriously, I get chills everytime Shingo pitches. The fans get so pumped up for him. Anyways - here's to a solid outing from Garland (Not Schoeney, right?) tomorrow!
  6. I just got back from my local game store - I had to buy ESPN NFL 2K5. It was so tempting, sitting there, saying 'Look at me. I'm only 20 bucks.' So I dished out the 20 and bought it. I'll let you guys know how it is in SLandP; but I'm also gonna get Madden, so I'll be able to compare.
  7. Fellas - (knocking on wood) I think Joe-Joe is starting to get it. That swing was beautiful, short and to the point. Nice job, Joe!
  8. I wanted to bump this, just for anyone interested. Sunday vs. the Tigers, we'll figure out what parking lot, time, stuff like that later. I'm bringin' the bean bag games! Fun fun!
  9. Maybe I'm reading wrong, but what has Harris done to be sent down to Charlotte? He's been our most consistent top of the order hitter, albeit the slump in June, which IMHO, was caused by a lack of PT and confidence (which came from Uribe's hot-start, which, now over, the second base job should be Harris' alone.)
  10. White Flaggin' it? My ass... Go get Kendall, and our offense is still solid. Add Maggs and Thomas during the September stretch, and our offense would be hands-down, the best in the MLB, against ANY pitcher in the majors...
  11. 4:45. Ill give a recap. EDIT: RECAP. -Can't replace Maggs or Thomas, but pitching will do it. Need consistency from offense and defense. Hinted at another move, but no quick fix. Cannot replace Maggs or Thomas. No need for 'reactionary move'. Need to assess where the team is at, look for fits for this team and this situation. -Maggs injury - no real timetable on Maggs return. Wait and see how rehab goes. -Trades - Kenny talks to every team, basically looking for any and every possibility. Hinted at one person not named Finley or Hillenbrand, that is VERY available on the D'Backs. -Cleveland Series - Garcia and Buehrle's appearances were excellent, encouraging. Need more of that if playoffs are a possibility. -More Trades - Not talking to the Cubs. Talked during subway series, but nothing of interest anymore. -Kenny won't run for republican Senate. -Finally - Mac asked him if Ozzie showed up to a press-conference with a kid, if Kenny would say something to Ozzie? Ken says no, citing the Sox Organization as a family environment. Good-byes.
  12. Well guys, either way - hunker up and strap 'er down, we're gonna have an exciting two months ahead. And it would be a lot more exciting if Jason Kendall is behind the plate. I'll leave it at that, you guys probably have had enough of my hard-on thoughts for him.
  13. It's Official: Magglio Ordonez out four-eight weeks. Will be re-evaluated in four weeks. f***, man. f***.
  14. Which is why Kendall is a perfect option. It is known he can be had, and at not much more than a song. However - if JR is willing to take on a bit more payroll, then the song will be less pretty. Catch my drift?R Go for Kendall, perhaps Walker, ASAP...
  15. Right now, if I'm Kenny - I'm aggressively pursuing Jason Kendall right now. No, he won't replace Maggs in terms of RBIs and HRs, but he'll get on base a ton. And if it's true that Maggs will be out four-six weeks, we need production from every part of our lineup. I'll take Timo's .250 average and defense in right, but I cannot take Ben Davis .150 average and plus D. Kendall has turned from a want, into a need. Go get him.
  16. Yeah - but who in our farm would we give up? Munoz? I really, really can't see them trading Sweeney or Anderson. Good luck, Kenneth... You're in a tough position right now...
  17. But - if we did aquire Delgado - it would tell me that either Thomas or Maggs will be on the shelf for the rest of the season. Bruce Levine reporting that a high-official in the Sox organization has said four-to-six weeks of rest and rehab... f***ity f*** f***.
  18. Sox could go after Larry Walker - but that would be the final 'Good bye' to Maggs, as Walker IIRC is signed through this year. I'd love to aquire Walker though - damn would that f***ing rock...
  19. Kenny Williams press conference at 4:00. What's with both Chicago teams' training staffs? Absolute crap, this year, IMO. Maggs shouldn't have f***ing played if he wasn't 100-f***ing-percent. Give me a f***ing break - what the hell...
  20. Per Bruce Levine. Borchard Recalled. Not sure how long he'll be on... :headshake
  21. I agree, he'd be very nice to have. But where would we put him, is the problem? I mean, if we were to include Maggs in a deal to Toronto, then he can DH for us for a month or two. But what about when Big Hurt gets back? I really see catcher as the only place (offensively, and defensively) that needs upgrading. I think Harris can handle the 2B duties, and Rowand/Perez out in center should get the job done. Crede will eventually get up to .250+ and play very solid D, and we're solid everywhere else (I'm not talking about pitching here.). I'd love to have Delgado - but when Thomas gets back, where would we put him?
  22. How are those rosters workin' out for you, Krush?
  23. Well - this didn't happen to me, but a buddy of mine (it was fifth grade IIRC), got a steal and scored his first ever basket! He was so pumped and excited. Unfortunately, it was in the opponent's basket. He later went on and cried about it as he sat on the bench for a while... Good memories, as I think of more, I'll post 'em. Oh yeah, another one - at Marian Catholic this summer, it was pretty sweet, I just buried a three in this big-guy's face (I'm only 5"7 or so) - my first basket for varsity basketball (the first of many, this summer ). As I was backpeddaling down-court, I happened to trip right at halfcourt, falling right on my ass, slamming my head on the ground. And basically everyone on both sides, as well as the fans that were there, happened to see it. So - there's my embarrassing moment of the summer.
  24. Garland hasn't been the problem. Granted, his last start wasn't great, but he only gave up four runs, in what, six or seven IP? And, against the Rangers too - that's pretty good for your number 3/4. Loaiza really, really needs to go get those Tigers tonight - he cannot have a let down tonight.
  25. I'm just seeing this now, as my computer has been down for a few days. Anyways, I have a few questions: -What happened to Dave Sanders? I remember him being, well, not great, but not terrible out of the pen with the Sox. I thought, at the very least, he'd have a shot to be a situational lefty. But now he's at B'Ham with a five + ERA? Maybe I'm just not remembering correctly, but what happened? -Nanita looks to be dominating at Low-A. Is a call-up to W-S in the near future? -Gio Gonzalez continues to dominate - and while I like seeing the high K's, I love seeing the low BBs. That's very good to see. -And finally, for our first-round pick Josh Fields. This was probably addressed a month or so ago, but does he project out to be a high power guy, high average/good contact guy? And - I know he'll probably K a lot, but has he been known to walk a lot too? Thanks in advance.
