  1. I'm glad you brought that up, fathom, because their bullpen is a lot like ours: Nathan and Shingo have both been two of the best closers in the league, advantage a bit to Minny. Marte and Rincon (I know, ones righty and ones lefty) have been the best relievers outside the closers. Politte and Romero have both been pretty decent, a little better than average. Balfour and Adkins have both done very good, IMHO, jobs for mop-up middle relief. Unfortunately, that is the only extent of it, as Mullholland has been much much much > than Cotts/Jackson.
  2. I hope that statement was meant to be in green...
  3. OK - the Twins are better than us. You are 100% correct, we are all dumbasses. I bow down to you. Will you leave now?
  4. Hey, while we're ripping on people - I mean, you are ripping on Kenny Williams, aren't you? Let's rip on... hmm, who should we rip tonight? Herm Schnieder. That bastard probably caused Maggs and Frank's injuries. And Roger Bossard too, that asshole - I saw piece of grass that was longer then the others! Grr!! We've set a record for posts in a day, and most of them have been commenting on a select few morons.
  5. I'm also interested in Sweeney/Anderson too. If Anderson ends up hitting .280-.300+ at Birmingham, will he start at Charlotte next season? Ditto for Sweeney, except at Birmingham?
  6. Good control, awesome stuff. Keep the kid healthy and we have a damn good one on our hands! Congrats on the callup, Gio! Just out of curiosity, IIRC he threw like 91-92, just based on the little scouting tape I watched on him. For the people who know minor league and just about high schoolers in general, is it likely he'll add a MPH or two more as he proggresses and matures?
  7. I like watching Bears games alone - most times I get so pissed off, I start punching things. If the Bears don't win on a specific Sunday, I usually don't go out for the rest of the day. Simply put - Bears lose, me mad. So no chat for me.
  8. When has he been given the chance to play like a top pick?
  9. Great pics, chimp! If I remember to take my digital camera wheneverr I go, I'll try and bring back some nice pics. It will be my first time down to Bourbanais, so I have a question. First, how long are the practices? Second, do you (for those who've went) stay for both the morning/afternoon and night practices, or do you usually just stay for one?
  10. I dunno how long this will last, but I wanted us Bear fans to get all of our thoughts compiled throughout the next month in one thread. I'd also like to get your thoughts, say if you went to the camp, or have heard things, on who did well, stuff like that. Here's what I've heard so far: DAY ONE -Grossman has a poor first day. -Gage looks to be outstanding so far - very, very good, might be able to beat out Terrell for #2 WR. Not to say Terrell is having a poor camp, though. -Urlacher hurt. (All of this per ESPN 1000 Silverman.) Day 2 Practices at 8:45 AM and 7:00 PM. Feel free to post anything you heard about today, or any thoughts, notes, etc.
  11. Like I said - if you know they aren't going to make the playoffs, then go the f*** away. Honestly, why the f*** are you here if you know we aren't going to win. My gosh - some of you just need to go away in some hole in the ground. Oh, and how old are you, 2? White 'Sux'. Very clever, dips***. :dips***
  12. All per ESPN 1000 - MRI tonight, results tomorrow. It's a hamstring injury.
  13. Urlacher hamstring injury - not a day-to-day thing, MRI tomorrow. Lengthy injury. f*** f*** f***
  14. If you don't like it, don't read it. As much of a Sox fan, I'm that much and more of a Bears fan. Training Camp breaks out today, and as much as I look forward to a successful September and August and hopefully October (yeah, I know - August comes before September ), I've always loved football as my number one sport. Way to get everyone in to camp. Anyone plan on driving down to Bear-bounais this summer? I'll be there, perhaps with a grill and some dogs and brats, and maybe even cornhole! .......
  15. Having fun, Minny? Good - congrats on the sweep. Now - here's a look at the next month or so. Enjoy. 3 vs Boston 3 vs Anahiem 4 vs Oakland 3 @ Seattle 3 @ Cleveland 3 vs NY 3 vs Cleveland 4 @ Texas 3 @ Anahiem 3 @ Texas Not to mention while our final six conclude vs. Detroit and KC, Minny will be going against NY and Cleveland. Have fun!
  16. OK - party is over, time for YOU to leave gr8. Bye bye, and as the saying goes, don't let the door hit you in the ass on the way out. We played like s*** and deserved to get swept. Now shake that off, and go to Detroit and KC and take four out of six.
  17. Saturday isn't the end. In fact, most moves will be made in the waiver deadline period than before the trade deadline, IMHO. IIRC didn't we get Sully last year during the waiver deadline period? :sigh: The team goes into the slightest slump - and people on the board start to show their true colors... It's unfortunate, but there seem to be a lot of bandwagon jumpers here...
  18. Just for reference, here are Frankies numbers this year: 189 ABs, 1 HR, 24 RBIs, .323 Avg, .364 OBP, .444 SLG, 12/23 BB/K, .809 OPS.
  19. And all of that is wrong. Our current lineup can beat the Twins - you choose to take a two-game sample size in which we are playing our worst baseball of the season. Talk to me in two weeks - and I'll still take our lineup over their lineup. Just so happens they're hot and we're not. It's all about the momentum - they got it, we don't.
  20. I agree 100%. Even with Thomas and Maggs out of the lineup, I'd take our 3, 4, 5, 6 (Lee, Everett, Konerko, and hopefully in the near future, Valentin) over a lot of other teams. I'd really like to see a correlation between how our 1 and 2 hitters do each day, and how our offense as a whole does that day. It seems whenever our top of the order guys don't play well, our offense goes down easily.
  21. Pitt is dying to give up that contract. Frankly, I think that if the Sox were willing to take on Kendall's contract, not only would Pitt give us Benson, but it wouldn't take much more than a prospect or two to get both from Pitt - which, IMO, would make us a very, very good team. Kill three birds with one stone - a.) Improve our catching position. b.) Improve our staff. c.) Keep a solid pitcher away from Minny.
  22. Ah - take a chill and relax thread, we need more of these on the boards. Breathe in, breathe out. I'm lovin' it. BTW - I like Jason Kendall. I bet Kenny likes him too - unfortunately, that big ol' contract...
  23. Funny - you have two posts - and surprise surprise, it's another one of these threads. I love it how all these people start posting now that we've lost three in a row, yet are no where to be found when we were rattling off four out of five. You people give me a headache.
  24. Wasn't Minny something like seven or eight out at the deadline or in July last year? But yeah - the season is over. rolleyeyes.gif Surprise surprise - the two biggest knee-jerks on the board, Shuf and Jeckle, have given up on the season. My one beef right now is that Ozzie has Jose hitting in the two-hole, and he obviously shouldn't be there. Jose is a HR/RBI guy, not an OBP guy. Tomorrow, I want to see Harris and Rowand leading off - at least Harris will take a lot of pitches, and Rowand is a good contact guy to put right in that two hole.
