Here are Shane Spencer's stats as well. Nothing special from both him and Ty Wigginton (sp?): .281 AVG, .332 OBP, 4 HR, 26 RBI, .742 ( :puke ) OPS. I doubt Kenny Williams is looking at getting either of these guys. He's looking at one of: Brian Meadows, Rob Mackowiak, Jason Kendall, or anyone else who could help the Sox bullpen. JMHO.
-
Spencer is on the DL, IIRC.

I really, really find it hard to believe the Sox are just going to be involved in a deal just for the hell of not letting a rival get a guy. If we are truely in on this deal, then we will get something of value in return, I guarantee it.

Leading off Sportscenter, they showed pics of them putting up huge nets at Wrigley, with a piece of cement falling caught on camera. That just makes me laugh so friggin' much. They said if the city doesn't want the game to be played tomorrow because the net isn't safe enough/isn't fully installed, they won't play the game tomorrow!

Just for s***s and giggles, here are Wiggington's numbers this year: .285 Avg, .334 OBP, 12 HR, 42 RBIs, .821 OPS. Nothing special. I doubt this is the guy Kenny is looking at from either Pitt/NY.

Ah - thanks for the laugh EJ, I need some after tonight's embarrassment of a loss. Seriously for a minute, I really hope what Kenny is trying to do here is have New York pay for some, or a lot of Kendall's contract, and have Kendall come to us, while we send not much of a prospect to Pitt. That way, Pitt rids itself of a contract they don't want, yet still get somewhat of a prospect (thinking of it now, if we send Pitt a good prospect, we better get someone good, whether it be from NY or Pitt.)

I really hope she can 'grind', you know what I mean? Kenny likes those grinders...

OK HERE Is the official deal: Mets get Kris Benson Bucs get Josh Stewart. .....And the Sox get.... Drumroll, ANNA BENSON! Wooh! We made out pretty good in this trade, don't ya think!
-
Good post. At this point, we need to take what we can from games, because honestly, our whole team is out of sinc. Let's hope we'll be taking some wins out of the next couple games, too.
-
Agreed. This team is playing very poorly right now, I'll admit that. And for those of you saying Maggs/Thomas missing are the problem, while they would help out our offense a lot, even they can't control our defensive woes. I can understand a slumping offense. I cannot, for the life of me, understand why the f*** we're in such a 'defensive' slump...

Four out... Hawk is pissed.
-
We've deserved to lose the past five games, and this one will be another one of those...

Sox botch the DP....
-
Come on, Sox. Let's get some runs!!!

Would it be fair to call Josh Stewart a poor man's Mark Buehrle? I know Stewart was up with the big club a year or two ago, and had the liner off his chest, but I don't quite remember him.

Official Bears Training Camp Thread

Hell, I'm excited. I've always believed that the lines (defense and offense) are what makes the whole system click, and our offensive line could manhandle people, especially if Quasim Mitchell or Aaron Gibson are able to step up and take that LT spot. Our D-Line, OTOH, could go either way. It's gonna be very young, either way - I'm expecting Brown-Harris-Johnson/B-Rob-Haynes to fill out our line, so you never know with young guys. Nice pics, Champ. BTW - I'm seeing/hearing two different things. On CB.com, it said Terrell had a good day, but others are saying he had a s***ty day. Another thing - Thomas Jones is so f***ing buff. Look at those biceps! Just a little smaller than myne... -
Good point - so this year, our defense corps (without Berard - who still might be in, might be out) looks like: Vandermeer, Cullimore, Mac, Poapst (ugh), Robidas, Babchuk. That means that if Berard is signed - f***, another year of Norfolk for Babchuk. I was hoping that Poapst would be let go - that way, you could maybe even make room for Barinka/Kukkonen (I like Kukk a lot, he played a lot better than others on this team last year, yet for some reason, Sutter, IMHO, had it out for him, thus he was sent back to Norfolk.)
-
Oh - I see - so the only difference would be playing in a different location with different uniforms and nicknames, but still the same players, correct? Thanks for clearing that up, ss2k4.

Article I was just reading about this now, over at WSI. Have any of you guys heard anything about it? It would make a lot of sense, more fans from the big club would be able to see the games, less of a drive. I'd like it, I'd definitely make the trip to Indy if the Knights were there...
-
Hey - I didn't know about this tailgate. Excellent, I'll have to get tix. It's gonna be nice to put a face with all of you guys, rather than just thinking of you as whoever your avatar is...
-
So - from what I've read (the article you wrote) - he throws three pitches very well right now (curve, fastball, changeup). May I ask, do you think he'll just try to improve each of those pitches, or will he try and work on another pitch, such as another type of fastball (cutter, sinker, 2-seamer, splitty)? My personal opinion is that if he has good command and control of those three pitches, he won't need another pitch, but I wanted to get someone elses thoughts about it.
-
Good resigning of Robidas, I like that. I dunno about resigning of Poapst, though, the only thing that does is take away a shot from one of the kids. If there is a season, this year, I really hope that they stick with the rebuilding plan, as opposed to trying to squeek into that 8th spot to get some extra playoff bucks. Stick to rebuilding, let the Babchuk's, Ruutu's, Yakubov's of the world get the most minutes (which I doubt will happen with Sputter), and in a few years, it will pay off.

Randy Johnson rumor in Daily Southtown
CWSGuy406 replied to Al Lopez Ghost (old)'s topic in Pale Hose Talk
Wow.... Just - wow. Go get 'em, Kenny! (I'm thinking of a rotation of RJ-Garcia-Buehrle...) Oh - my. And - as a first timer, here goes. -
Yeah, good point Jim - I actually think Kenny will make a move or two during the waiver-deadline period. Hell, we might see nothing before Saturday, and then two or more trades after Saturday.
-
I like both of these ideas, probably Hairston a bit more (base stealing threat, younger). BTW - forgive my stupidity, I thought Hairston was a secondbaseman. But, between here and WSI, I hear about him playing RF? Is he like a super-utility guy, who can play basically anywhere, or what are his specific positions? But I'm still with Rex - go after Jason Kendall. Take on the ugly contract - at the end of the year, if Giambi is still suffering from the parasite, trade Konerko to New York for that one catcher they have, Navarro, and a major leaguer (I dunno who, maybe A-Rod ). Kendall would make our lineup, just so much better, but as the trade deadline comes closer, my hope dwindles.
