Even not sold out, in a town that has lost its love for hockey, it was STILL an awesome atmosphere. Sure, the team sucked the life out of us fans, but from the National Anthem on, I was on the edge of my seat. Say what you want, but a hockey playoff atmosphere = awesome...

Hawk was really, really pissed off about that too. I think I heard him slam the table. He was right though. I mean, Lowell was basically five feet from him when the ball hit the bat. At least take some pitches, take a hack, something...

IIRC don't you (YASNY) like Finley? I and a bunch of others think he is a nice solution rather than giving up the farm for Beltran...

The ONLY way I can see this going down is if Washington feels they wouldn't be able to afford Ovechkin, and panics and gives up the first pick for a couple of picks this year and a couple of picks next year (and a prospect or two). I'd make an offer to Washington like this (And I'd give up a s***load to get that pick too. Ovechkin is about as can't miss as Lebron.) 1st round pick this year, 1st round pick next year, Two second rounders this year, a Fourth rounder, and Vorobiev/Radulov. That's a hell of a lot - maybe too much. But for Ovechkin, damn... I wanted to ask you about a couple of things Blackhawk related: First about the third pick. Say we keep it. Who do you like? I personally like Tukonen, the kid from Finland. He seems like he'd be a solid fit, plus a guy who could hang out with Ruutu and hopefully they could gel. As for the rest of the draft, I'm really hoping they package some of the second rounders and get another first rounder, as I'm hearing this draft isn't very deep. Then again, the more picks you have, the more likely you'll get a diamond in the rough, right? Well, probably not with the Hawks... Then, about Vorobiev - when he was drafted, all I heard about the guy was how he was a hard worker willing to fight in corners/stand in front of the net, who had scoring touch and got those garbage/Kyle Calder-like goals. I saw none of that from him in his limited action this year. I really hope it was just him taking it easy on the knee. He probably isn't too fond of Brian Sutter's system either, but he'll have to live with it for AT LEAST one more season. (Sorry about the length of the post.) Oh yeah - for all of you hockey/Blackhawk haters, I've been to three out of the four playoffs in this city (Bulls playoffs in '96, Hawks in '02, Bears in '01. I had tix for Game 5 of the Sox vs. Mariners series, sadly, it never got there... ), and hands-down the Blackhawk vs. Blues atmosphere was the best. A hockey game is easily the best experience to see in person. My hope is that someday, Ruutu and Bell and Arny and Calder and the rest will get a chance at the playoffs. Hopefully sooner rather than later.

Brando's principle is correct though. We are way too righty-dominated in this lineup. Hopefully if Reed/Sweeney/Borchard stay in our system, that will really help balance out the lineup.
