  1. QUOTE(robinventura23 @ Sep 13, 2005 -> 07:26 PM) Even though one pitch hasn't even been thrown in the KC series, I thought I would look ahead and show the possible pitching matchups in the Twinkiedome. The Sox really need to step it up against KC. Friday: Garland v. Baker (rookie, haven't faced him yet ) Saturday: Hernandez v. Santana Sunday: Contreras v. Lohse Thankfully, Saturday's game is not on TV. That Santana has a blister is BS. Not only was he not moved to friday to face the Sox, but by moving him to Saturday, we face him not one but two more times.
  2. QUOTE(Jordan4life_2005 @ Sep 11, 2005 -> 08:50 PM) Well that's that. Way to go A.J. Boy, my fear is that first game of the series that we blew will be reminiscent of the 16 inning debacle against the Twins. That game put us into a hole for a week! If this happens again, we're screwed.
  3. QUOTE(Jordan4life_2005 @ Sep 11, 2005 -> 08:49 PM) 1st and 2nd with one out. Runner at third with three outs!!!
  4. QUOTE(CYGarland @ Sep 11, 2005 -> 08:25 PM) I think Duque may have just lost his spot in the rotation for the rest of the year. Yea right, not with Ozzie. He will pitch El Duke just to spite everybody
  5. QUOTE(Greg The Bull Luzinski @ Sep 11, 2005 -> 08:17 PM) Would it be considered a personal attack to call Ozzie a mental midget who is more qualified to sing and dance in the club house than manage the team? No.
  6. Not to panic pedal, but the fact that Pods was missing the entire game raised concern about his health. At the very least, couldn't he have come in late in the game, as a defensive replacement at the very least. At the end of the game we had Blum at third (bad), Gload at first (Not Great), and Everett in left (Bad, though he did take away a HR). In the end I thought that Pods would have had a better chance at Vlads double in the 12th.
  7. QUOTE(White Sox Josh @ Sep 3, 2005 -> 03:44 AM) Im sorry but this is so bulls***. Give him his damn money. My god. My opinon of Brooks has officialy nose dived a ton. You know damn well that this was a money decesion. Any money decesions are Reinsdorf decesions. Unfortunatley, Jerry is such a coward he will hide behind his lackeys who will take the heat instead of him. In this case it will be Boyer.
  8. QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Sep 3, 2005 -> 01:13 AM) We should have Mac, Jurko, and Harry announce our games I remember they started it once for some reason when our games were being announced on another station and they were hilarious.... im kidding btw although it would be funny. Bad..Bad...Bad....This does not surprise me for two reasons...One, the Sox have as much PR savy as a neonazi organization. I find it somewhat ironic that they make this announcement on the same day that they are sponsoring 'Mullet Night'. Second, remember that the club is getting a lot less money from the radio rights fees. You know that this is boiling down to the almighty dollar, and when you consider the list of popular anouncers that have left town, Caray, Paciorek, Wills and now Rooney, anouncers in the little wotld of Jerry Reinsdorf are very expendable.
  9. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Aug 1, 2005 -> 11:25 PM) The real benefit of standing pat this year will not be known for a couple of years. This year, hopefully we'll make a run in the playoffs, and yeah if we overpaid for someone that could have helped. But 2 years or so down the line, when El Duque and Jose are gone from the rotation, and Konerko and Crede are gone from the infield, and Dye is gone from the outfield, and Hermanson and Marte are gone from the pen, and they're replaced by guys named Anderson, Fields, McCarthy, Gonzalez, Jenks, or someone else along those lines, and KW then suddenly discovers he has the money to keep Jon Garland and Mark Buehrle and AJ Pierzynski and Scott Podsednik because he has young talent filling the holes created when the more expensive free agents departed...that's when we'll know the benefit of standing pat this year. Well said. The difference between KW of old and the new KW is that the old KW was so overanxious to make deals, he was wiling to overpay. Everybody wants to win today at the expense of tomorrow. However, ther are very few instances in the course of baseball history when rent-a-players made that much difference.
  10. What?????? Every time this guy deals he overpays.
  11. If the Sox were smart, they should make every Wednesday and Thursday home games in the Summer weeks as day games. They would draw better.
  12. The problem is....once you hand him the everyday job, he'll tank again. Some guys just play better off the bench, and I think thant Rowand is one of them.
  13. The correct answer to your question is ...it depends. I believe that new stadiums built in the midle of no where are a waste of money (ie. US cellular, Miller Park). The more successful new parks typically are key components of larger urban planning efforts and closer to downtown locations, such as Camden Yards and, Coors Field (and I believe the futue Cardinal stadium). These latter examples are tied into other urban redevelopment projects such as urban waterfront redevelopment, the introduction of infill retail and residential, and, other major entertainment attractions such as restaurants, clubs, theatres, etc. The term that urban planners use here is 'Critical Mass'. It means that in order to have a successful vibrant urban environment, you also need to have in close proximity, a multitude of land uses that will contribute to the vitality of the area and feed off of each other. The mistake that is often made in the siting of new stadia is that the cheapest site is selected in order to keep project cost down. As we have discovered with some of the more successful projects, and the poorer ones, it's well worth the extra money for that prime location.
  14. I said before the season that this team (Royals) like the Sox, definitely needs to get off to a good start, otherwise, it's Fire Sale time! They spent a lot in the off-season, plus they have some key guys that will be free agents.
  15. Hasn't that question been asked and answered the last three teays?
