  1. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Aug 7, 2006 -> 02:45 PM) I think a lot of people are disappointed in Lance's periphrials. I'd like to see the Sox promote him soon, as I think we can be a little agressive with him. If your gonna use a big/non common word Alex, at least spell it right.
  2. QUOTE(Steve9347 @ Aug 7, 2006 -> 08:52 AM) man, Buehrle's ERA is 4.74... damn did he have a rough stretch... Copy that to the fact that he is 9-9 now. If he loses today then a 9-10 record will not look pretty especially from a team that is 21 games over .500. Hopefully Brian Anderson can go 4-4 if he's playing. If he does, his average will reach the .230 plateau.
  3. I honestly hope, and pray, that Arnie Munoz proves me wrong and gets his spiff together. He is still young enough.
  4. If you factor in just money, I would agree that he is very underrated.
  5. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Aug 6, 2006 -> 03:29 PM) He will get his chance next year, hopefully. Freddy and his 86mph fastball should be gone by then. ^^^^^^^
  6. QUOTE(whitesoxin @ Aug 6, 2006 -> 01:10 AM) Am I the only one who is an avid fan of Vazquez? No, your not and I'm surprised noone mentioned me. I backed him more than once (and twice on Sundays) more than enough. But then again, I would back anyone..
  7. QUOTE(SoxAce @ Aug 5, 2006 -> 08:32 PM) I'd feel waaaaay better if Wickman was still there for Cleveland. Their "closer"/"closer by commitee" is/are horrible right now. Being right does suck sometimes too.. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Aug 5, 2006 -> 08:52 PM) Yes, he held his hands in the air. He was not running around the whole time screaming and waving his arms. His celebration tonight was over the top, similar to when he has a damn orgasm after beating a ball at 1st late in a game. That's how he is. Did you remember the playoff game when he blocked the plate for the win (he was a Marlin) and him screaming his ass off "I got the fishing ball!!!" Don't hate Willie. Complaining on how a guy celebrates hitting a HR, winning the game for his team shouldn't cause a hater-rade from you.
  8. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Aug 5, 2006 -> 08:47 PM) How many players run the bases with their hands up the entire time, from the moment the ball is hit? Jose Valentin did it against the Cubs when he walked off. Not sure if it was the entire time but I know it was for quite a while.
  9. Unreal. This year is a special year for them. Pudge with 2 outs hits a HR. Wow...
  10. I'd feel waaaaay better if Wickman was still there for Cleveland. Their "closer"/"closer by commitee" is/are horrible right now.
  11. Tigers getting the same breaks we got last season. Hate to say it, but it's true. Everything seems to bounce their way.
  12. He does play LF... Actually I wouldn't mind him at all. He isn't walking much this year in the bigs, but looking at his minor league numbers and college numbers he has excellent patience. Hopefully by next season, he'll turn it around since he is getting a good taste right now.
  13. QUOTE(brijames @ Aug 5, 2006 -> 08:15 PM) Tigers about to pull out yet another miracle late inning win against the pathetic tribe pitching. Damn I hate the Tigers. Casey Blake nearly gave the game away. Cleveland still up though.
  14. Just got home, and I'm glad I came home to a sox winner. Javy, this is why I back you on this board. Thank you.
  15. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Aug 5, 2006 -> 12:52 AM) It'd be better if it were Grossman than the 2 running backs. It's crazy seeing Grossman and Benson, two guys who were never injured at college, and are now potential injury-prone players. Just a crazy game and level.
  16. Separated shoulder is what I heard. He's done for the season. But that would be worst case senario sense it's pure speculation on my part. I saw the video and it just looked like a stinger since they said he was holding his wrist and hand not really the shoulder/numbness and all. The hit really wasn't hard honestly they barely touched him, well Urlacher just kinda pushed him into Brown. They have the video of the Bears practice and that hit on their site FWIW.
  17. Sweeney, for once, got PWNED. 0-4 3K's. Ouch considering Garza is major league ready.
  18. QUOTE(Benchwarmerjim @ Aug 4, 2006 -> 10:59 PM) 3 walks in one inning will kill ya Twins with a 3 spot in the 10th What's new. I'm speaking both of the Twins winning and the Royals being the Royals.
  19. QUOTE(Jake @ Aug 4, 2006 -> 10:39 PM) Your boy blew it. Nah my boy is DeJesus. And I'm actually serious. He's my favorite player to watch on KC. Jake, now you can say my boy blew it..
  20. QUOTE(iguchi=dank @ Aug 4, 2006 -> 10:35 PM) thats the spirit!! beautiful! bunt by buck with 2 strikes, 1 out man on second for KC. odds? I'll say this. They pinch-hit Berroa for Costa (Shane Costa can flat out hit) so there's a good chance but won't hold my breath cause this IS KC.
  21. QUOTE(Jake @ Aug 4, 2006 -> 10:29 PM) Explain to me how the errors cost him runs if they were all earned. If every error was scored as an error then if it cost him runs it would be accounted for. I was about to say.. maybe he meant "mental" errors. Then I can understand.
  22. QUOTE(iguchi=dank @ Aug 4, 2006 -> 10:21 PM) soxace. verlander is a stud. and i would take him over any of our pitchers. BAA is like under.240 and if he learned to strikeout people more he would be the right-handed liriano with higher velocity. just don't sell the guy short. and in last 10 games only 2 were 4er, 1 was 3er. 1 was 2. all the rest were 0,1 Ok, let me put it into simpler terms. All I'm saying is don't rely on a rookie to just suddenly stop winning streaks especially one who is unproven, who struggles a bit against the good offensive teams, (like the link I provided his dominence against the weaker teams) and who has another pitcher on the same team who is only one year older, whose numbers have all been better each year, and is basically the #1 on that team. Verlander is gonna be a good one don't get me wrong, but personally, I'm much higher on Bonderman. And please don't ever use Verlander and Liriano in the same sentence.
  23. QUOTE(iguchi=dank @ Aug 4, 2006 -> 10:12 PM) Well KC is gonna give everything they got to lose this game, mauer goes deep first batter of 9th, 5-4.. Thank god they scrapped in an insurance run in the top of 9th HAHAHAHHAHAHHAHAHAHHHAHAHAHA back to back, tie game I'm telling you, and even you called it, The Twins are going to win this game.
  24. QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Aug 4, 2006 -> 10:05 PM) I don't know why Leyland would, unless Verlander comes up sore or just starts getting rocked. Sure it's not territory Verlander's ever been in, but Leyland is old school, I doubt he gives two spiffs. It might not be just Leyland. If you haven't heard, they have already given him some time off after the all-star break for him to rest and they are skipping him on his next turn and his next start will be against us. I never did call him an ace. But he is a good young pitcher now (and will be an ace down the line) who has excellent stuff and can definitely stop a losing streak if he's on. I can bet you he will have the lowest era of the Tiger starters this season including Verlander who probably won't pitch as much in the second half. Bonderman is a stud. QUOTE(iguchi=dank @ Aug 4, 2006 -> 10:08 PM) And soxace, watch him pitch, he blows everyone away, last 10 starts he hasn't allowed over 4er. He has better stuff than any of our starters this year, that i know. Oh I have he is a good pitcher, but he does struggle against good hitting teams including us. And you might want to look at his last 10 starts and the teams he faced. And to say 4er is solid anyways it's not. The only impressive outing I see there is Cleveland and even they aren't too good this year. His best outing are mostly against NL teams who are very weak and he didn't pitch too well against the Cards eigher. http://detroit.tigers.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb/t...layer_id=434378
  25. QUOTE(iguchi=dank @ Aug 4, 2006 -> 09:52 PM) Verlander is a stud so he's gonna stop any losing streaks. Maybe he could, but I doubt Detroit is gonna pitch him every 5th day now since he is entering unwanted territory in innings. So they could have a good losing streak before he pitches but I'm not sold on him since he does struggle against the big boy teams. If there is anyone who can stop a streak its Mr. Bonderman.
