QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Aug 4, 2006 -> 09:13 PM) Damn Yankees just took a lead in the 9th. Posada HR. At least we lose ground on no one. Every team came back today. Yanks, Twins, Tigers, Red Sox. It really blows. You can actually say we did too though.

Garland with another quality start. I'm sure he doesn't like his era right now but he'll sure as hell take that record he's sportin.

Official Game Thread 8/4 - Sox vs Jays 6:05

So ya... Pods is up... I can feel the excitement for this game yea!!!! -
I'll put it to some of you this way. Let's say about 100 people I know were fans of eigher the sox or cubs/both/undecided. Before last season about 65% of them were cub fans. 30% were sox fans and 5% were fans of both. Now.. I would say about 48% cub fans and 45% sox fans and 7% still fans of both/undecided. so... 65% > 48% cub fans (decrease) 30% 5% I'm not gonna say this is all of Chicago but at least from what I've seen where I live/ from classes/ even from Florida (more sox clothing from people than cub clothing) I can say we are really close to becomming a sox town and if we win it again, there's no doubt that those undecided will be sox fans/cub fans changing up.

What the hell happened to Crucial Conflict? Man those mo fo's were f*cking talented. They were not like Bone as many people suggest. Another Chi-Town crew representin too. A shame when I think of so many talents in any music/sport/etc. that just had mad talent and was basically wasted in some sort of way.

QUOTE(The Ginger Kid @ Aug 4, 2006 -> 02:27 PM) If I were Ozzie I'd tell my wife's cousin's nephew's sister's husband, Freddy Spicoli, to lay off the hippie lettuce. Whats wrong with it? What he needs is some Eric Gagne, potential career ending j-u-i-c-e!!

QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Aug 4, 2006 -> 02:20 PM) He's been playing almost everyday. ESPN says he's played in 78 games, and we're slightly over 100, no? That's a buttload of games. I don't see how he'd magically revert to his career numbers so suddenly. ^^^^^^^^^^^^^ So I'm guessing Crede is going to go like 1-40 and return around his .260+ avg since every season is indicated that a player will revert to his career numbers..

QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Aug 4, 2006 -> 12:52 AM) I want the Marlins to win the Series almost as much as I want the Sox to, but I'd rather the Sox do it sooner rather than later, as Florida can wait a little while longer. They will win it again in 2008. They are basically getting set for that year whereas we are just trying to build a dynasty right now since we are trading alot of our future.

They are honestly the best kept secret in baseball. Amazing what a small market team with a bunch of kids who would be on a AAA team for most teams are doing. They are my favorite NL team.

QUOTE(chimpy2121 @ Aug 4, 2006 -> 12:26 AM) I leave August 19th, no go for me. It's a terrible date. You and maggs just posted youz leave earlier then the twenty sixth, or twenty seventh, and Greg is gonna just type it down anyway? You suck Greg, way more than your pitching and your two dislocated shoulders.
-
I can rock any pitcher who is on this message board so you know I'm down. If I, or someone else, ever gets my s.o.b car running, then I wouldn't mind a road trip, scooping up some posters (who can play or can eat.. ) and get them to a nice field. Too bad it's really a no chance type thing though. Me (also a couple others) requested something like this a long time ago though.

QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Aug 3, 2006 -> 11:45 PM) You know if Garza dominates it'll only enrage me further. Tizz, I'm actually surprised that you haven't mentioned Daniel Cortes being the next "Liriano" simply because for one, he just traded a talent like that for a reliever who is injury prone, also the fact that he is a 19 year old kid extremely raw with, from what I heard, good stuff, also being a latino doesn't hurt eigher. Maybe if you see his numbers looking better you will?

Happy birthday you tools..

And of course Sportscenter just showed Ozzie's quote and nothing but Uribe highlights in the game. His first two ab's (2 k's) then his error, Joey talking to him, then his HR.

QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 2, 2006 -> 10:54 PM) I still want to know this: since when did our expectations get so low for our guys? This isn't directed towards you at all...I admire you sticking up for Sox players. Since we started sucking? And don't worry, I'm solo on the sticking up bro. Almost everyone here hates Vazquez.

QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 2, 2006 -> 10:47 PM) Don't know how those came about? Yep...guys were hitting hit fastball solidly all night. Teahen got a cheap homer cause of the wind, but it was still a towering fly ball on a terrible pitch. Garcia seemed to throw a lot of fastballs tonight, compared to his usual arsenal of sliders/change-ups. I guess I just am not too excited by 6 inning plus, 4 run start. That's not going to win you very many games, even if you're playing the Royals. I'm just saying don't assume he just sucked it up though. The same can be said about the D behind him. Pods cost him a run alone and he barely bailed out Uribe's ass from not catching a foulball and Gload wasn't much better. That pitch was not terrible to Teahen eigher. Inside up Teahan just did a good job pulling those hands in and rotating his hips (if you didn't know Teahen has been on a serious tear) If your surprised, I've said it many times I will back anyone in that sox uni.. (except Pollite who is now gone)

QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 2, 2006 -> 10:38 PM) He gave up 5 runs, 4 earned in 6.1 innings. If that's pitching well, then we might as well quit playing the rest of the season. Better than he usually does actually. If 4 earned runs ain't making progress from his usual 6-8 earned a game then we should have been already looking to 07. And I really know you didn't watch the game today, since you don't have a clue how those runs came about.

QUOTE(SoxPride56 @ Aug 1, 2006 -> 08:55 AM) OK friends, I need your help. I dont no what to do for our one month. I want to do/ get her something nice You just answered your own question.

QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Aug 2, 2006 -> 10:31 PM) This game was over the minute Freddy decided to light up the gun with his medicore fastball. If a crappy hitting team can light up Freddy what will the Yanks do. Oh wait we already know the answer to that. Freddy did pitch well today. Teahen actually was out in frount of that ball, but the wind worked to his advantage. And even that pitch wasn't bad at all. Might have been a different ballgame from that or Pods horrendous D costing us another run.

QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Aug 1, 2006 -> 07:00 PM) Too Cub fan-esque. QUOTE(hitlesswonder @ Aug 2, 2006 -> 07:43 AM) I agree it's too Cubsesque. But if it were to happen, it should be the "BArometer" QUOTE(The Ginger Kid @ Aug 2, 2006 -> 01:45 PM) yes, too "cubbie" Since this thread has started, BA has only gone 1-8 since. Coincidence?

QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 2, 2006 -> 09:47 PM) Please don't post this stuff unless it becomes official. For those of us who are no longer watching Comcast, this is the only place for us to get an update. Ah my bad, but I highly doubt we'll see action unless we get incredibly lucky the storms clear Kansas City. It's a safe bet (hope I'm dead wrong) that we'll finish it.

This game is... ova.

QUOTE(iguchi=dank @ Aug 2, 2006 -> 06:32 PM) This would be 3 straight bad outings for him and a bad start to the non-varitek august. And you better believe the e.c. bias..er.. media is going to be all over this.
