so i had to watch the game on ESPN last night...
I've already made my point about him many, many times on this board. Never liked him since his comment about sox fans when we hosted the all-star game.

Midseason Top 20 coming soon
QUOTE(Heads22 @ Aug 12, 2006 -> 11:28 PM) Tonight showed why he's still got a ways to go. I'm not saying top 10 Alex, but he at least has to be considered in the top 20. His numbers before tonight were just plain sick, and that was only like his 4th or 5th start. He's mostly been a reliever. And I shouldn't even point out that he just turned 20 this year. His numbers as a reliever are damn good even though he does struggle as a starter. He still should be on the list, maybe top 15. And you all will be sorry when you forget the name of the mighty Joseph Hunter..

I am absolutely stunned that NOONE mentioned Jason Rice. He has got to be in there.

Thank you Verlander for making your track record known against good hitting teams..

8/11 @ 7:35 PM Game Thread
Verlander struggles against good hitting teams so hopefully, his track record will carry on even though he has gotten plenty of rest now. This is a BIG series.

Who, in your opinion is...
There's alot but I'll just name at LEAST two. Underrated player: David DeJesus/Chris Young Underrated manager: Joe Girardi/Jerry Narron Underrated General Manager: Terry Ryan/Dayton Moore (thanks to him the Royals future looks WAY better) Overrated Player: Kerry Wood/Barry Zito Overrated Manager: Dusty Baker Overrated General Manager: Billy Beene (nuff said)

Left field
I wouldn't mind at all seeing us swing a deal to get the hitter we just saw hitting 9th in the Yankee line-up Melky Cabrera he's young, has good developing power, speed, has a great eye, can work the count, and can be steller in D especially playing left field. If we can somehow pray him away from the Yankees, I'd be estatic.

QUOTE(pierard @ Aug 11, 2006 -> 01:28 AM) Even better than just assuming that the average person could get his joke, whoever it was (the new guy) said "get it because he's Japanese." Ohhhh now I get it, LOL! ESPN......YES! And I'm assuming the "new guy" is Hispanic am I right? Typical.

AND THAT'S A WHITE SOX WINNER!!!
QUOTE(shoota @ Aug 11, 2006 -> 12:51 AM) The guy was/is seeing a therapist to work through his problems and I believe the poor guy loves the Yankees franchise so much and wants to retire a true Yankee legend, and it's got to paign him that fans don't think of him as a "true Yankee." ARod must be asking himself what more he has to do to become a "true Yankee" when he's already the best player in baseball. And through it all, he keeps a grounded attitude, agreeing with the fans and saying he wants to do better. It's a shame then. Even if A-Rod plays like 10 more years with the Yanks, I (and other people I know) will always see him (and Griffey) as Mariners.

AND THAT'S A WHITE SOX WINNER!!!
That was the first game in a long time that Javier Vazquez grew some balls. He really battled out there. Ima still back you up and it isn't because your first name is the same as my brother.

Any run-in with yankees fans
QUOTE(GoRowand33 @ Aug 9, 2006 -> 04:08 PM) the most annoying fan I encountered was a whitesox fan who sat a row behind me for a couple innings. she didn't have a clue about the game, referred to AJ as the "official team captain", was contemplating running on the field to take better pictures and was obnoxiously loud for a continuous amount of time Sounds just like Steff...

Attributes of a good poster
QUOTE(whitesoxin @ Aug 10, 2006 -> 12:17 AM) It's an internet message board, who cares what makes a good poster. This is supposed to be a place where you can come to relax and talk Sox, not become the best poster you can be. You see this is a definition of a bad poster..

2006 White Sox Catch-All Thread
Everyone talks about the Tigers season. The Twins season to me is even more impressive for ALOT of reasons. Our sox are offically in 3rd place in the Central and the Twins are officially among the top in the WC. Damn shame Liriano is hurt, cause that could have just cost them a playoff spot even if it's 2-3 starts.

One observation of AJ...
QUOTE(Kalapse @ Aug 9, 2006 -> 12:38 AM) It's just a way for the catcher to keep the batter from peaking at him to catch the loacation of the pitch. Or the runners. Don't know if anyone notices, but AJ also looks like he sets up to the inside/outside then when the pitcher begins his windup, he shuffles to the outside/inside. Runners on second especially can bark/signal/move to the outside/inside of the bag to tell that they're going to the outside/inside. Done it plenty of times when I played.
