  1. QUOTE(LVSoxFan @ Jul 21, 2006 -> 04:33 PM) but rap is sucking right now. And rock is dying.. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Jul 22, 2006 -> 12:27 AM) My thoughts exactly. I don't care how you get there, because it's what you do once you get there that makes all of the difference. So if we end up with a wild card spot, I'll be happy we made the playoffs, and then we can see what happens from there. ^^^^^ Even though I still prefer to win the division.
  2. Greg Maddux is just special. He is the true meaning of a "pitcher." But my favorites personally growing up were Blackjack McDowell, Carlos Perez (I loved his funky motion as well as Irabu) Kevin Brown and Bret Saberhagen. I was never really into pitchers growing up though. My little brother does fit the mold of a Maddux though which I want him to duplicate. (I wouldn't have him duplicate any other true pitcher.)
  3. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Jul 21, 2006 -> 10:56 PM) It is a BS excuse. Leave it to Garland to give us one of these excuses. He has a history of them.
  4. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jul 21, 2006 -> 11:55 PM) 4.) Winning brings chemistry, not the other way around. Kalapse...
  5. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Jul 21, 2006 -> 11:37 PM) Joey Cora is a moron. There's a name noone talks about. When our whole team plays badly (meaning pitchers, hitters) then some of the coaches can be affected as well. Cora has been just bad his last few games down there. He might have cost us some runs that could have won at least a couple games for us during this stretch. I've heard the names of Ozzie, most of our starters, some of our hitters (mostly from the bench) Coop here and there, but never Cora.
  6. QUOTE(Young Gun @ Jul 21, 2006 -> 10:58 PM) Sexy. ^^^^^
  7. Thank god I'm going to Florida and away from stressing on the sox for a while.
  8. I love when I'm right (esp. in predictions) Brian did it in the last game of the series I should pull up that thread when I backed him (also pwned a poster which I don't like doing but it's a gift sometimes) saying he can keep his hitting per month (this month esp.) going and will improve each month possibly getting closer to/around .400 in a month.
  9. QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Jul 20, 2006 -> 08:11 PM) Anyone willing to bet on whether or not someone gets beaned this weekend? I think you've done enough betting for one week young man. You=future gambler.

    Where the hell did Sweeney get this power surge of his from?
  11. QUOTE(Sox Machine @ Jul 20, 2006 -> 10:39 PM) He should bat in front of Widger when he's in the lineup -- but here's hoping that won't be an issue much longer. Took the words right out of my mouth.
  12. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Jul 20, 2006 -> 12:10 AM) fish you spiff head beach
  13. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Jul 19, 2006 -> 12:52 PM) AJP has the best career BA of those listed. I would say on that alone he has the best chance. Not only that he is the only one who has actually hit .300+ in a season not named Konerko. (even though Pauly hasn't done it in like 3 years) IMO, Crede can do it since this will be a career year for him this season, and we are really seeing him start to blossom. AJ is going to his gap hitting roots like he did with Minnesota. And it's not like he's doing it as an advantage. AJ is hitting .300+ at home and away, something Pauly never does/did (Kong always hit better on the road) This will be an interesting discussion no doubt.
  14. QUOTE(Felix @ Jul 19, 2006 -> 12:13 PM) I doubt that AJ, Thome, or Iguchi will hit .300 at the seasons end, and I don't know if Paulie or Crede will either (although they'll be close to .300, like the others) You don't think AJ can hit .300+ by season's end?
  15. Happy Birthday to a poster legend. :cheers
  16. QUOTE(Drew @ Jul 19, 2006 -> 01:44 AM) ¿cojones? Que?
  17. QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Jul 19, 2006 -> 01:53 AM) A course i was a big fan of getting Vazquez too so that hasnt looked as good. But ive always been against Freddy so i can be proud of that too =p Don't even worry about that. I have backed Vazquez a ton on this board. Wouldn't mind going to war with someone else as a backer. And I guess I'm alone on Freddy..
  18. I've said it before, Cliff Pollite was the only sox player (that includes pitchers and hitters) that I've criticised this season (surprising I have backed Widger more than once) and I knew Garland was going to get his s*** together. The only time I ever put down Garland was when I said he was the Darin Erstad of pitching (mediocre player, had 1 career/fluke season, is living off that season in $, and is back to mediocre) I still expect him to get his era into the 4's whether its the average 4.50 or better/worse.
  19. QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Jul 19, 2006 -> 01:42 AM) Umps won the game for the Yankees tonight...thanks jackasses. I can honestly say the Mariners got robbed in that one. It was just an ugly game all around to watch from the field, umps and weather.
  20. Javier better step his game up. The series is very important season wise. Hopefully he has grown some cohunas.
  21. QUOTE(Jordan4life_2006 @ Jul 19, 2006 -> 01:24 AM) Mark had a 4.24 era the first-half of '03. That includes the month of May in which he went 0-4 with an era over 7. Not much difference at all. :rolly I won't waste my time.
  22. QUOTE(Jordan4life_2006 @ Jul 19, 2006 -> 12:56 AM) It's gonna take a lot more than 3 rough starts for me to think Mark is suffering from some kinda innings abuse. Just think 2003. What he start that year? 3-10? Ended up 14-14. His record that year and his record this season is not a good comparison. Not only are they different but his era is worse right now this season Plus, he had the worse defense I've ever seen behind him that year which caused him to have a ton of unearned runs. It was so bad I'm still remembering it off the top of my head.
  23. QUOTE(The Ginger Kid @ Jul 17, 2006 -> 11:29 PM) a cat fight between kittie fans, I dig it. aren't you guys amazed at how well bonderman and robertson are pitching this year? I'll honestly say Robertson is surprising the world. Who the hell knew he was going to pitch like this. Bonderman... no I'm not surprised at all. The kid has improved in almost every pitching statistic in each season he's pitched. He'll be a future ace on this staff right next to Verlander when it's all said and done.
