  1. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jun 18, 2006 -> 05:23 PM) I sort of wonder sometimes whether or not there might be a couple of pitchers in the AL who might be able to hold together a .250 average if they were given the chance to hit every now and again. I'll tell you one cat... C.C. Sabathia is a hell of a hitter. FWIW.
  2. QUOTE(danman31 @ Jun 18, 2006 -> 12:42 AM) It was a rough game to watch with my two favorite teams facing each other Felt that same way when The U.S. faced Mexico. Very, Very hard to watch.

QUOTE(Maverick0984 @ Jun 18, 2006 -> 11:27 AM) Pablo has 1 career home run, i love the guy, but he\'ll never hit for a cycle. With his speed, he could get lucky and have a ball hit a part of a pole or something, then see it bounce around and he can get an inside-the-park homerun. If Konerko can do it, anyone can do it.
  4. QUOTE(Maverick0984 @ Jun 18, 2006 -> 11:22 AM) no crede Or BA... I'm very surprised Widger isn't starting considering he caught Garland his last start when Garland pitched pretty well.
  5. Anyone know if the hot bats (Anderson, Uribe) are starting? I know Thome is today.
  6. QUOTE(Dam8610 @ Jun 17, 2006 -> 11:16 PM) But that's a great hitter, isn't it Victor Martinez? Whoa.. don't compare a .293 career hitter to a .258 career hitter ever again. Victor can go hot and cold, but not like Uribe.
  7. A very streaky hitter no doubt. Could hit like .400 in a month and then the next hit like .100. That's one negative that I would like him to at least work at. Try to be semi-consistant in each month. He gets in major hot and major cold streaks.
  8. Ozzie made a similar move in the W.S. in case you didnt remember. (it wasn't the CF position, but you know what I mean.. He's been in the NL before as a coach and was around some of the best managers around so he knows how that works.
  9. Well usually I don't post many threads but I just had to give major props to the bottom of the order. It seems they really are starting to produce some offense. (besides the "D") I'm just going to say basically Uribe and Anderson since we are playing NL teams right now and AJ and Crede were already producing offensively. Brian Anderson's Stats (also at the bottom of my sig line) Stats last six games hes played: H-7 ABs-23 (AVG-.304) R-4 HR-1 RBI-4 BB-3 SO-3 OBP-.385 Juan Uribe's stats (He is really getting hot, so expect him to carry this team for a while like DJ said today) Last five games hes played: H-8 ABs-22 (AVG-.364) R-6 HR-2 RBI-6 BB-0 SO-2 OBP-.364 Usually I would like to see how this is during a 10 game stretch, then bulid on that, but right now both are basically half-way to ten games and are both looking really good especially because the drop off from the top of the order in Pods and Iguchi (not counting the incredible Pablo Ozuna) Every player is going to have his struggles, especially during a particular order (3-4-5, 6-7 still haven't quite yet) and it's up to others to kinda carry the team besides the pitching and defense. I don't know if it's the NL that's helping (even though we've only played 2 games now) or if some of these guys are starting to see the ball better, but ever it is... I'm liking the results. Like I said, I'm not going to get carried away cause I got basically six games to back me up, but that's six games of producing that we haven't seen at all this season for the sox. Just thought I'd throw this out there.
  10. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jun 17, 2006 -> 09:18 PM) Perhaps it's time to bring back the Rancid sig. I'll take your sig then..
  11. QUOTE(Dam8610 @ Jun 17, 2006 -> 09:11 PM) Brian won't win the Gold Glove. He's the best defender, but it seems like those awards are all about flashy highlight plays and offense. Brain makes a few highlight plays, but his bat isn't good enough to win it. I know that shouldn't be the case, but it is. Joe Crede can tell anybody that. Hell even Rowand when he was here.
  12. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Jun 17, 2006 -> 09:01 PM) He's going to have to hit at least a little bit. He's starting to come around. Yes he is... (sig) || || || || || || || || || || \/
  13. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Jun 17, 2006 -> 08:55 PM) According to Baseball Prospectus if he keeps up his current pace he will have the greatest year defensively for a CF since 1887, yes 1887. From Baseball Prospectus: Last week, responding to the struggles of rookie centerfielder Brian Anderson, who is hitting .163/.263/.296 in 157 plate appearances, the ever-unpredictable Ozzie Guillen announced the team was going to stay the course in center. Bolstering Guillen's support was his belief that no one else in the organization "can play center field [well enough] to win a championship." Usually, such proclamations are based upon a misguided understanding of the dynamics of winning baseball, in that run production is inherently far more valuable than defense, and also easier to accurately evaluate. Last year's White Sox team, however, revealed just how powerful elite defense can be, and thus Guillen's words can't be simply laughed off. Anderson has indeed been horrific at the plate, with a negative 8.8 VORP. Through his first 54 games in center, though, he has saved 10 runs more than the average center fielder by RAA, and 15 more than a replacement glove. Anderson is producing on defense at a RATE of 124, meaning that if he keeps up his current play he'll have saved an astounding 24 runs above the average centerfielder (think the once-spectacular Andruw Jones since 2004) over 100 games. Since 1900, no centerfielder has kept up a 124 RATE for a full season--not Willie Mays, Tris Speaker, Curt Flood, or Jim Edmonds: Amazing. And I'll say as of right now, Kalapse has the best sig on this site, bar none. I am a HUGE Anderson fan.
  14. I'll take his brother, Jared but not him.
  15. Time to update my Brian Anderson getting hot meter..
  16. I'll say this, Garland can at least swing the bat pretty good for a pitcher. 16 K's for sox pitching tonight..? That'll work.
  17. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jun 17, 2006 -> 07:13 PM) Edgar Matinez' career would have been over 8 years before he retired if the DH didn't exist. It helps players who totally suck at defense, are injury risks in the field or are just too damn old to play the field a way to prolong thier careers. I hate watching National League baseball anyway, you see so many pitchers walk the 8th hitter in order to get out of a jam, in the AL there isn't usually that incredibly easy out in every lineup that pitchers can bank on. It deflates ERA's and and inflates strikeout numbers for pitchers. Paul Monitor wouldn't be in the Hall of Fame at all if it wasn't for the DH rule.
  18. Uribe is really getting hot now. Thornton has been just outstanding for us this year. Count, Crede, AJ, Ozuna, the WHOLE DAMN TEAM.... YES!!!!!!!!
  19. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Jun 16, 2006 -> 01:12 AM) Dallas is clearly the better team here, but that might not matter. It probably wouldn't cause the best team in the East is currently at home watching the playoffs..
  20. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Jun 16, 2006 -> 01:10 AM) It's almost getting ridiculous, Pablo just gets a hit every time he swings that magic wand of his, and it's usually f***ing ugly to look at. If only he could play defense *sighs*. *Fixed*
  21. The Heat will probably win the next game and the Mavs will finish them off with 2 at their home court. I hope I'm wrong cause I want to see Dallas steal one in Miami, (esp. since I have a bet already with Mavs in 6.. ) but sadly.. I believe this is how it's gonna happen.
  22. Pollite should just have the surgery if it is bone chips like it's being indicated. Have it now, be ready for the playoffs.
  23. Didn't see the game but I'm glad we got the win. As for getting Riske...
  24. I don't need to explain myself. Everyone knows how I feel about it.
