  1. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jun 27, 2006 -> 11:44 PM) First, I take offense to that comment. Their problem is pitching, they lost a lot of key cogs from that staff last year including: Millwood, Elarton(not huge here), Riske, Rhodes, Howry. Their bullpen was such a huge part of their success last year and when you lose three of your better bullpen arms and your ace..you're going to have some issues. Just tell them to look at Knightni's sig and they'll know..
  2. QUOTE(thedoctor @ Jun 27, 2006 -> 12:45 PM) -pedro martinez for delino deshields Boy that was bad... That Randy Johnson deal they had a few years ago was awful too.
  3. QUOTE(Hurons @ Jun 27, 2006 -> 11:11 PM) You were 15 up and held on. The Tigers are 11 on the Twins and they will hold on as well. You just said that you don't like looking into the past. Now your saying since we managed to hold on to that lead in the end that the Tigers (who are a different team than us) will do the same from the Twins (my dark horse) team? Elaborate.
  4. QUOTE(tigerfan @ Jun 27, 2006 -> 11:05 PM) For anyone who thinks we will fade or fail to win the division this year, consider this statistic. Through 78 games we are 53-25. That means that in order to reach 100 wins this year we only need to go 47-37 the rest of the way. If you don't think we can do that, or do better then that then you're kidding yourself. Boy I heard that alot. The sox had a better/about the same record as you guys do this season and the only thing we had to do is play .500 average ball the rest of the way to get to 98-100 wins. We did exactly that, but the Indians played outstanding ball the rest of the way. Could it happen this year? Keep your eye on the Twins who will probably be the dark horse when it's all said and done. Just take this into account. Three of our starters (Garcia-Garland-Vasquez) are underacheving before the break. If this guys figure it out after the break, I don't know how you guys can beat us at our best when they are on. Buehrle will be the same pitcher as his track record shows, and Contreras will pitch alittle better or alittle worse but will be about the same as he is right now. Your starters on the other hand are mysteries. Rogers is the only sure thing and we know he pitches worse after the break. Bonderman is probably going to be even better after the break but who knows how the Verlanders and the Maroths (how will he be after in injury) etc.. be afterwards.
  5. QUOTE(Hurons @ Jun 27, 2006 -> 10:58 PM) If you think the Sox are going to manhadle the the Tigers based on the early season results, you may be mistaken. You may be mistaken yourself, that's why baseball is such a great game. IMO, we probably will beat us more than you will beat us, but at the same time, that doesn't mean we would win the division if you guys keep doing your part (beating up on the bad teams, which we haven't done too good this season) and if your pitching, bullpen, hitting, etc.. all hold up in a cohesent unit like it has pre-break, and if it can carry on post-break.
  6. Ronaldo is just a freak. He's been my favorite player for like 8 years now and Brazil is my 2nd/3rd favorite team internationally (Mexico/U.S.-of course)
  7. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Jun 27, 2006 -> 03:48 PM) I think Canseco also speculated that Tejada juiced. Mark up another name he's probably gotten right in his book.
  8. QUOTE(lukeman89 @ Jun 27, 2006 -> 01:02 AM) didnt he call tadahito "Iguchison" at some point in the game? Thanks to his 3-run HR and his GS, they called him "The Legend of the Iguchison."
  9. Joe Borchard 2.0 (w/o the hype?)
  10. And he's the one who said Ozzie has issues..
  11. QUOTE(beautox @ Jun 26, 2006 -> 01:14 AM) I'm pretty sure Mackowiak can play first, i would think McCarthy would be the odd man out and would go back down to AAA to get starts. Then that begs the next question. Who is going to be the long relief man? IMO, they would option Gload first before they do McCarthy. QUOTE(Thunderin @ Jun 26, 2006 -> 01:15 AM) Iguchi is DA MAN!!! If you haven't watched the video yet on chisox.com, please check it out, it does bring a smile to your face seeing it.
  12. QUOTE(whitesoxin @ Jun 26, 2006 -> 01:08 AM) You my friend are in denial. And that's putting it mildly.
  13. Just went on chisox.com, watch the Iguchi grand slam, and its still makin me excited even though we lost. Jon Miller, for once, made a great call on that homer.
  14. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Jun 26, 2006 -> 12:52 AM) It's weird, cause I'm getting the same tingle I got last year. **Won't make joke.... won't make joke....**
  15. QUOTE(zoomzoomK @ Jun 26, 2006 -> 12:42 AM) I think its obvious I'm not a "troll", so please don't treat me like I'm an idiot. Trolls say things like: Sox suck, Thome blows, etc... I'm trying to have fun here, just like y'all From what I've seen from your 5 post, your a "hella" poster. (gotta get use to me saying a Cartman line) I think you and a couple other tiger fans here will enjoy the board, and there's also a Cardinal, Twin, Marlin fans here too. Some posters here have other teams they like from other sports (Football, Basketball) etc., but what everyone has in common is they all like the Whitesox even if some of those posters are living in different areas/countries. (NY, Australia, etc..)
  16. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Jun 26, 2006 -> 12:25 AM) This is not a $12.5 million pitcher. I'll give you this statement since your factoring in the $$$ Now that's just plain ignorant. So I guess the Brew Crew is also a minor league team since KC just swept them? I'm not making any excuses for Javier. He hasn't pitched to his ability yet but since he had a horrid start today, several of you wait till now to bash him? Like I said before if he had a 6+ 0-1R start this thread would be mute. If Garcia would have had a bad start his last game instead of a good one then everyone would have his head. The only starter where I can say deserves any bashing this season is Garland and techincally his last outing, he pitched better than his numbers indicate (bad D behind him) Once Vasquez has his great outing say next time, will this thread be back up? It'll be a back and forth process. Garcia's era before that stellar outing he had was in the 5's. Now it's back to respectable. If your gonna bash someone, be consistant with it.
  17. QUOTE(ZoomSlowik @ Jun 26, 2006 -> 12:17 AM) I'd much rather hang onto Vazquez than Garcia or Garland. His stuff is considerably better than the other two, and the money is basically a push when you factor in the money we got from Arizona. His problems are in his head, and you can work with those issues. Contreras was an absolute mess when we got him, and that's turned out great. Give the guy a chance. Until this round through the rotation, he was still pitching considerably better than Freddy and Garland as well. His ERA at the start of the day was 4.46, which is a number we would have killed for from a bottom of the rotation starter 2 years ago. We got a little spoiled last year with all of our starters pitching pretty well most of the year. That doesn't happen very often. For a team that's 49-26 and was 3rd in the AL in runs allowed and 4th in ERA at the start of the day, people sure b**** about our pitching a lot. Excellent post. One of the rare ones that made sense on this thread. QUOTE(ZoomSlowik @ Jun 26, 2006 -> 12:18 AM) 4.43 actually. Ah even better. Thank you.
  18. QUOTE(drowninginflame @ Jun 26, 2006 -> 12:14 AM) Just got home, great game and free seats too bad we lost You my friend, are a loyal fan.
  19. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Jun 26, 2006 -> 12:06 AM) 1 bad start? He's been pretty brutal for a while. For a while ey... And yet you guys waited all this time to finally say that he's awful doesn't speak volumes for itself? Hmmmm QUOTE(shoota @ Jun 26, 2006 -> 12:10 AM) A 5.00 era on June 26th equals one bad start? Don't give me that s*** cause comming into this game his era was like 4.52 or so. If he have a 6+ 0-1R game this thread wouldn't even be up here. That is my point.
  20. Boy this is soxtalk for ya. Make one bad start and your in the doghouse. I wonder when Buehrle gives up like 10 runs will people jump him too? I would expect alot of posters here who are jumping on Vasquez (except Aboz who will never bash Buehrle) to do the same with Buehrle.
  21. The water bottle!!! why couldn't he save the water bottle?!
  22. Man.. looking at some of the boards around, they cannot believe what we almost done. We must be feared.
  23. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Jun 25, 2006 -> 11:37 PM) Indeed. I thought the loss against Cleveland was the best I'd feel after a loss. Now, it's a tie. I was gonna ask that too. I honestly feel this game was a better loss than Clevelands.
  24. Didn't we have a thread already about this? NEVER count out this team. Don't be an idiot. The fans who stayed=class/loyal.
