What is interesting about Mazara besides the gap power.. his ISO has gone up the last 4 years. '16 - .153 '17 - .170 '18 - .178 '19 - .200 (and that was only 469 PAs) Still not great, but it's very encouraging.

I agree with everything except this. His bat is pretty damn good.

His arm is very good. Arm runs factor in outfield assists (as well as runner advancement). That's part of the reason why '18 is a bit skewed.

This. Hell Keuchel at least has had past success. Still waiting on Mazara to get to even 2 WAR let alone 1 (I hope he does figure it out).

I think if the Sox would've gotten Wheeler, some people's stance here with the Mazara acquisition would've been more "meh, I don't care" variety.

Actually that was my mistake. That was his career numbers in general against us.

It's an interesting gamble based on his age and gap power. If he can somehow improve his barrel % and his launch angle... could be a homerun. Alot of ifs... but definitely not impossible.

One thing I will enjoy with Mazara out there is his arm. Dude has a very good arm. Not much on range, but the arm is damn good.
